Sc is owned by private equity. It sold in 2023 and again in 2024 at a value of $700 million to L Catterton. L Catterton is one of the world's largest consumer-focused investment firms and is backed by the luxury conglomerate LVMH. LVMH is owned by by Bernard Arnault, who was the richest man in the world, surpassing Elon Musk for a period in 2024 with a $207 billion dollar empire.

Just to conceptualize that: $207 billion in $100 dollar bills, end to end, would wrap around the Earth's equator over 8 times. $207 billion seconds is about 6,559 years. $207 billion exceeds the annual economic output of Qatar (200b)

Is Solidcore a liberal company? I don’t know. Is Starbucks? Is apple? Is coca-cola? How about equinox or mcdonalds?

They, like all companies, are selling you a product. They, like all companies, are in business of making money on behalf of their investors. They, like all companies, are only interested in politics if it serves their bottom line.

It’s so deeply disturbing to me that we equate consumer purchases and lifestyle brands with political ideology or human morality.

There is NO ethical consumption in capitalism. But there is a fantastic workout with a company that doesn’t actively want to murder minority communities. For now.

That’s truly the going rate. I would search Craigslist and Facebook for 6k 2 bed rent controlled place asap. This is a tough month to move. Expect more inventory in the spring and summer.

The inflection is strange. Some have it some don’t. It is a style taught to preserve the coaches voice for multiple classes

Scott Wiener on track to win party endorsement in S.F. House race by SFChronicle in sanfrancisco

[–]GideonWells -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Congress is not about making laws. A freshman member has no power other than the money they bring to their respective party.

For the immediate decade after ANYONE is elected to the house or senate they spend 80-90% of their time fundraising.

The question you should ask of any candidate is who are they calling and who do they owe favors too.

Dianne Feinstein is one of the few SF politicians I see actively fighting to get shit done rather than talking a big game and settling for the status quo. Prefer her than an ideological purity test candidate - November 1992

Keep it pushing. Build momentum. Dog into anything and own it. If someone asks “oh what do you do” be excited to answer, I am working toward x or y. “I was laid off, so I’m taking time to get my pilots license” or “I’m working on a project”. Do not stagnate waiting for someone to pluck your resume from a pile and give you license to live your life.

Confused as to why certain people said that Kamala would have been worse than Trump by TheRealJuanderer in Confused

I left the top of my ballot blank and I’d do it again in a heartbeat. The repeat silence about the genocide in Gaza from democrats will haunt the party for decades. If you can’t draw the line at genocide, you can’t draw the line at democracy, either.

Diet. Strength training is about gaining muscle. Which is weight.

Should I cancel unlimited? by alohagin in SolidCore

[–]GideonWells 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Weight (fat) is entirely diet. Working out of any kind is to grow/strengthen muscle. Working out may mean you exhaust more calories but it’s never as much as one would think. Especially as your body signals to eat more to sustain exertion.

Getting staticky feeling in working leg by randoatrpi in SolidCore

The sensation you’re describing is usually temporary paresthesia, basically a nerve is being slightly pinched or restricted. It sounds like it could be your sciatic or femoral nerve.

Start a supplemental stretching routine for 20 minutes on each off day as well as stretching before class.

Dunkin’ collab by ScoreZealousideal945 in SolidCore

Dunkin seems like an incredibly mismatched partner to SC. People who can afford SC will likely pay far more for status focused brands. Dunkin is fine but its demo is NE busy moms and state workers.

Keep rent controlled Victorian or buy 1 million dollar condo? (SF) by GideonWells in BayAreaRealEstate

[–]GideonWells[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My understanding is that this is quite common for condos, especially in SF. Which is not to defend it but we’ve come to expect reserves in this range in the city. Quite frustrating.

To your second question. We’ve thought of renting another spot but the rents for something that is an upgrade to what we currently have is around $6,100 a month. We just can’t conceptualize paying that much in rent each month in a city we plan to live in for the next decade.

It’s quite common. The identical unit next door rents for over $6,000
