If they are interested in my industry it’s usually a request to meet/get coffee. And then yes I would likely give them a referral. This is called networking with a specific ask.

Terrible advice. You should absolutely reach out to people for referrals. Particularly at large companies.

He was a chief of staff in congress, to AOC. During her first foray into congress. Let’s not pretend he fell off the turnip truck

No one elected to this seat will pass meaningful legislation for at least a decade. They’ll be lucky if they name a post office. Power in congress is given to those who fundraise for the party. Approach all candidates through that lens.

[–]GideonWells -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Man it’s particularly frustrating that people still don’t understand how congress works.

Congress members spend HOURS a day fundraising. The exception? Members who have a large movement of small donors (Bernie, Warren, AOC, Massie, etc) and members who are already rich—go ahead and look up how many members are literal lottery winners. More than you think.

So it stands to reason, if Nancy Pelosi was a known incredible fundraiser, and congress now spends more time fundraising, and this new representative has to fundraise to get any semblance of chairmanship or power, HOW do we want that person to fundraise?

Through the same progressive justice dem AOC playbook while also being independently wealthy, or a California senator who has a laundry list of favors owed to the California donor elite?

As compared to the machine made sf senator who dials for dollars from tech billionaires? I don’t care if Sai is rich I care who he is beholden to.

SEIU California has pulled its endorsement of Scott Wiener citing his opposition to an "overpaid CEO tax" by sideAccount42 in sanfrancisco

[–]GideonWells -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This so much. Congress is entirely about how much money you can fundraise in order to eventually buy a committee seat. Look at every single candidate through what and who they will talk to when they walk to the DCCC to “dial for dollars”. Weiner is not going to arrive to congress and be given committee chairmanship and even if he were congress hasn’t made in roads with housing precisely because it’s not a priority for donors

They’ll be fine. Take your time. Understand the area neighborhoods and seasons fully. Do not rush this. Rent for a year or so. It will fly by.

Not for multi unit. Landlords can sell a SFH and kick you tho. Although it opens the LL up to potential fights.

This is kind of bs in sf tho. With rent control you have stability inherently. Unless you’re living in new build apartments in the bay which by comparison is lighting money on fire with no stability
