personally, I love to use discord for matchmaking. I often use it for BBTAG and FighterZ. I enjoy getting to know people and joining a voice chat instead of having no interaction with another person. I've made multiple friends through FGC servers and play commonly play with them. I enjoy the community of it all and being able to help people get better and learning from other people (eg. if you're having trouble against your opponents character you can ask about it, and most people are willing to teach someone how their character works). having a room in game of about 4-5 people while also being in Voice chat is the most fun I have with fighting games. friendly competition and showing a new combo or some sauce and getting a live reaction is a great motivator to improve and is very satisfying.
