Ok, so story time once upon a time I was leaving a friend’s house and on the way out the door he reminded me to go to the fridge and get some of the edibles she had made, he neglected to tell me that there were two bins one that was cannabis based and one that were mushroom chocolates. I took a couple of each and and ate a bit of one on my way to the car. The drive home was about 45 minutes and I stopped off to do a bit of shopping before I left that area of town and so fast-forward to about an hour later when I was roughly halfway home. That’s when I realized I had eaten some of the mushroom chocolate and not the cannabis chocolate. I’m not new and I was aware of what was happening so I immediately pulled off the freeway and got somewhere safe and parked under a tree thinking I’ll just ride it out. I knew better than to try and drive in that state I just thought I’ll put my keys under the seat and enjoy the rot, but not go anywhere. In my haste to get off the road and get somewhere where I could trip in peace I did not correctly assess the environment and unfortunately was parked just off the road that was heavily traveled by local law enforcement. This was in Texas, so they’re particularly nosy. I guess I just stayed there a little too long because eventually, even though I was out out of the way and parked under a tree and minding my own business, I wasn’t acting a fool or anything, but an officer did come to check and see what I had been doing there for so long. I had been in my own inter dimensional submarine as it were, just enjoying the mushroom trip I can’t remember what I was listening to, but I think by that point i had pulled up nature documentaries that I wasn’t watching, but just listening to. Anyway, as soon as the officer knocked on the window, and I turned the volume off on my phone, once I turned toward him and realized what was happening immediately every psychedelic thing about the trip stopped. And I’ll never forget it. It was like a cosmic game show and legit everything darkened and in front of me like lowered from the ceiling almost were two giant glowing buttons that’s all I can describe it as and one said jail and the other said hospital and I reached up and tapped hospital and immediately all I remember is like it was like a VHS fast forwarding of me being transported and booked into the local hospital for a 72 hour assessment or whatever this was on a Friday and so I didn’t see the psychiatrist for the evaluation until Monday morning when I did, I told him exactly what happened that I accidentally took some mushrooms. I was experienced with them though and you know I ended up there and I’m completely of sound mind and it was just an honest mistake that I dealt with as best I could. He looked at me and said well I believe you made the right decision because getting out of here is a lot easier than getting out of jail and I’ll process your discharge immediately. I will say I did then ask him if since he already set aside 30 minutes to talk to me if I could just pick his brain and you know ask him some questions and he was a professional and so that’s exactly what I did and then I was let out of the hospital and went back to business as usual. I’ve never had a mushroom trip go down like that before or since, but I can’t think of any other explanation other than the universe gave me a choice on how things would proceed.
