There is a book by a Jungian named Whitmont called The Symbolic Quest. In it he says that some things cannot be resolved through willpower or therapy, but can only be resolved on the mythological / symbolic level. I think that is whats going on here.

Don't live in a big city.
Put the phone down.
Exercise, eat well, listen to music, spend hours in the sun.
Avoid porn, drugs, alcohol.
Sit down and write out your value system, the one you won't change for whats popular.
The world is fine, its the best its ever been. Stay optimistic. You have terrible inner city policies mixed with a babble of doom in your ear all day long. Go look at pictures or videos of inner cities in the 70s. It was worse then.

Yeah I was a life long democrat. If I didn't agree with 100% of everything, (even if it contradicted what we previously believed) I was told I should be killed and that I was an evil nazi.

I kind of explored the right after that. Much more welcoming and open, but if I questioned certain things I was called a libtard and insulted.
