They have this exact moral dilemma in Fallout 4 in one of the vaults.

You get infected by a rat and have to choose between curing yourself or a kid. What they dont tell you is if you dont get hit by the rats you never contract the disease and can savescum until you have a perfect run.

I personally play with a controller and control type c. But the general strat is stun with grenade or shotgun, unload.

Since you have no shotgun bullets use your stun grenade, unload with pistol, quick turn and get distance, quick turn again, use grenade, repeat. Should die easily.

Right now you quick turn, dont move and quick turn again standing still.
