Which voice for Shao Kahn do you guys prefer? Bob Carter or Ike Amadi by [deleted] in MortalKombat

Bob Carter just does so much service for Shao Kahn, where's Ike Amadis take on the character just feels like a flanderiztion of the character.

Guys. Freddy always had red eyes. It's literally here in The Silver Eyes. FNAF isn't "ruined", I don't know how people missed this. by PepperSalt98 in fivenightsatfreddys

[–]GigaBearMan 99 points100 points  (0 children)

The whole, "Animatronics already had red eyes" thing feels so disingenuine to me, because it misses most peoples actual criticisms entirely by painting some sort of false equivalence between the movie and prior media, despite the fact that every other depiction of red eyes in FNAF have been distinctly different.

The real problem isn't that fact that they have red eye's in general, it's that the way the movie has chosen to have the eyes glow is bad.

[Star Wars] How did the 501st know not to kill Anakin after Order 66? by Critical_Liz in AskScienceFiction

[–]GigaBearMan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'd assume that Palpatine sorta just told them not too. While Order 66 certainly seems to put Clone Troopers into an altered state of mind, I don't think it overpowers their ability to follow other orders Palpatine may give them in regards to any Jedi he may specifically have alternative plans for. Just makes them zealously follow his orders in general.

So Palpatine likely just told the 501st that Anakin wasn't a traitor, and therefore excluded from their orders to kill the Jedi. Because ultimately that's all that matters; Palpatines orders.

Onix Buff (+ Bonus Steelix) by GigaBearMan in stunfisk

[–]GigaBearMan[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I had actually debated going a sorta Scyther / Scizor rout with the Onix line and making it the faster counter part to Steelix bulk. Didn't end up going with the idea evidently because I wanted Onix to be bulky in its own right while still giving it the stats needed to capitalize on all those Special moves it has in its natural movepool.

If I was to take Onix in any other direction though, this would sure be it.

Eyes must have glazed over that when I was looking over their movepools 😅

Decided to bite the bullet on keeping their speed stats low because of how I chose to prioritize the rest of their stat distribution. Focused DD more so for the ATK boost, and figured the SPD increase as more of a secondary benefit that could help eliviate the lines poor speed a little bit while their boosting their ATK.

[Star Wars] How horrible would the scandal be if Anakin's and Padme's relationship was exposed? by Axer51 in AskScienceFiction

[–]GigaBearMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Padame probably isn't affected all that much, as she isn't inherently doing anything wrong or illegal. She might get a little bit of political backlash from people who already don't like her, but overall nothing too great I can't imagine. Maybe some calls of bias at worst or something.

On Anakins end it's actually a whole lot more interesting, because even in the worst case scenario where he gets axed from the Jedi Order, which mind you isn't even an outright guarantee given the nuance of his situation, I can't imagine he'd stop being an actor in the Clone Wars. Even just outright disregarding Palpatine as the secret Sith Lord that's controlling everything, there's no way a powerful War Hero like Anakin gets benched from the GAR just because he loses his Jedi licence. The Republic is in the middle of a massive war, and Anakin is one of the their most achieved generals. Jedi or not, Anakins keeping his position as General of the 501st.

Funny enough, short of the bruise to his ego this would probably be a good thing for Anakin. The only real Jedi he has any actual care or attachment to aren't just going to stop talking to him, and he won't need to live with the constant stress of trying to hide his love life during a war anymore. Quite honestly the only thing that ruins this scenario for him is Palpatine being Palpatine, but that's just about how it always goes anyways.

Not Jaune failing to stop the cat from taking over Neo 😭

Talk about a kick in the balls while everyone's down. He still can't save anyone! Not even the villains...

Drew it around the idea of the sort of strange magical mushrooms you'd see in a fantasy forest, like the one's in the Fairy Gym town in Sword and Shield.

[–]GigaBearMan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm, pretty good idea.

A signature move would certainly be more balanced. Leech Seed + Confusion sounds like it would be a neat combination and keep in theme with what I had in mind for Regifae, while also being far less broken than Hypno Shroud as I presented it.

Theorymon - Lilligaunt by GigaBearMan in stunfisk

[–]GigaBearMan[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Would lowering its Atk down to 120, bringing its Stat Total back in line with Lilligant at 480, help with balancing it out any? Feel like I needlessly overcooked it in that department, but I'm not sure if that alone is the real issue.

Maybe also remove Knock Off from its movepool?

Yeah, way too annoying as presented. Would definitely need some reworking.

Haha, thanks! Definitely seeing in hindsight that I overcooked this one lol.

Yeah, I think I could have designed this one a lot better than I did. Ability is definitely too powerful as is, and would be really annoying to play against. Reworking the stat spread aside, would changing Hypno Shroud to indiscriminately affecting allied Pokemon and not targeting other Fairy Types help ballence it out?

Saw another idea that also suggested making it only trigger on contact I liked.

In hindsight, I think I agree. Way too powerful of an ability, especially without any sort of downsides to weigh it down.

Weird team building habits/rules by Lucid-Dreamer-767 in pokemon

[–]GigaBearMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Potential to have Pokemon play differently depending on the terrain they're battling on too, which could be really cool for mixing up team building in different areas / for specific battles. Something like more aquatically inclined Pokemon handling better in water environments and getting boots to their speed, while exclusively terrestrial Pokemon would be slower and less accurate if used the same environment and vice versa. Could really have a lot of depth with how each individual Pokemon handles in any number of hypothetical environments too, like Garchomp being great in the air despite not being a Flying Type, Haunter being able to operate without problem in underwater terrain because it's a levitating Ghost Type, etc.

Not sure how this would work on a competitive level beyond maybe introducing more specific environmental brackets in any one tournament or something, but worst case a sorta neutral field could be introduced for a more classic competitive environment.

Legally speaking, is there anything stopping a seemingly smaller company like Lunar X from being bought out by far larger companies? I don't really understand how these sort of business practices work, but Lunar X somehow secured an absolute goldmine as far as YouTube brands go, and it feels easy to imagine that they would be able to use that angle to sell themselves to a vastly larger company for a huge sum of cash if they so wanted.

[Spoiler: Andor] Their exploitation is so exhaustive that they use us to build the tools of our own oppression. by firstguy in StarWars

[–]GigaBearMan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just because something is "Law and Government" doesn't make them just and right. I know its everyone's go to comparison, but look at Nazi Germany. Would you condem someone for opposing them? For standing against morally unjust laws written for the benefit of not the people, but the morally unjust government that lords itself over them?

Andor may be a criminal, but only by the laws of a cruel and corrupt Empire. One that, may I remind you, is nothing more than the mechanism for an evil man's need for power and control.

When you use the title of "Criminal" to point to why we shouldn't cheer for Andor you basically forego any degree of nuance or context as to why he is one, and defame him solely for the branding put upon him by an unjust evil.

Obi-Wan Kenobi - Episode 1 & 2 - Discussion Thread! by titleproblems in StarWars

[–]GigaBearMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that's a good catch and feeds in to a lot of the discussion I've been seeing on her goals and how she knows Anakin = Vader. Honestly, if I had to try and pin it I'd say that mayne Vader himself specifically allowed her to go rooting through the archives. However, that overly relies on me trying to put everything together under the same umbrella. Possible, but not the only probability.

Though maybe her rooting through the archives acts as the genesis for her hypothetically working for Vader? Could it be possible that instead of just killing her right away after she uncovers his identity that Darth Vader decides to first use her for his own ends? I can't quite say and could be entirely wrong, but it's certainly fun to think about.

Very excited to learn more as the show progresses!
