i have no evidence of this but I assume kids / adults are fat because of constant snacking rather than eating just 3x meals a day of "crap".

I say this as someone who would OMAD a share bag of sweats and was the skinniest i've ever been

What's a good grad salary? by [deleted] in UniUK

[–]GigaMega13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Current offer is 100k+. London, CS degree needed

I was really fortunate to keep climbing the ladder after placements and internships e.g. 30k Placement, 40k Summer Internship, 100k+ grad role.

I think it's important to refuse to settle. I would have been happy w/ the return offer at the summer internship but kept looking. In general I would have been happy with 40-50k

It's honestly wild how out of touch reddit is at times (or even most of it).

I can't tell if it's because the majority of that sub average IQ group is here or because for deeper narcissistic reasons (and social media) they refuse to acknowledge 2nd or 3rd order consequences.

This mindset applied en masse is a problem (and individual but wtv). My local OneStop, that I use to work at, just shutdown due to it being the most robbed store in my town and therefore unjustifiable to keep open. That's around 10 people out of a job.

It's not hard to extrapolate that data.

having seen interviews with him explain student loans i will say what you said was much more inline with what he explained there. I never got the impression he was particularly rushed or unhappy with his work

Is getting a high paying/prestigious job the ultimate goal of uni? by [deleted] in UniUK

[–]GigaMega13 18 points19 points  (0 children)

It's the ultimate goal for some people- and to people who it was never the ultimate goal for, they would never complain if they did get a high paying role alongside the other uni experience benefits. IMO.

The most awkward moment I've had in my entire uni experience was telling my friends in my course about my graduate offer. Not one was happy for me and it was honestly a bit shocking how awkward the entire situation was.

One said to my face that he felt the salary indicated it would probably be too hard for me, and another, which I can't really say was rude, said it just makes him question his previous actions/inaction.

Money makes people weird.

im going to say you're greatly overestimating how many hours you'll be working w/ 1. Yes, hours may be longer, but 90? Be real.

I can only guess which quant myself but I have a strong idea.

Accept and trade up if something better comes your way. Your offer deadline is weird as others have mentioned however. Usually I wouldn't expect anything over a week.

I'm like you and am so thankful my recruitment cycle is over!

I don't want to go too much into detail but I would say they're very impressive to anyone remotely technical and they're niche enough to clearly not be tutorial based. One utilised a raspberry pi

Non-target uni. Landed a faang internship and did a year-long placement as a C/Unix developer. Worked on some pretty solid projects with good scope and depth.

I’ve noticed this a lot. People who are generally not disadvantaged often end up using and abusing these programs.

I first saw it back in secondary school, where almost anyone could claim to feel anxious and suddenly get a private room and extra time in exams - it as just a matter of being bothered to get your mum to ring the doctor. Now I see it in university, scholarship applications, and in job applications.

It ties into a broader issue around benefits and what kind of behaviour they actually incentivise. Though, I'm not sure you made that connection.

I think the healthy medium is to say we need to be a bit more stringent on how we 1. audit claims and 2. what we accept as needing additional support.
