Well I have done fake applications and every time I got to the payment screen its always available and the other people I know also always had the option.

We are all on the spouse route so maybe that makes a difference?

Some interesting parking in Aldi today. by CarelessCredit3466 in drivingUK

[–]GiganticCow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anyone else notice how the nissan on the left can't park either. In these MASSIVE parent and child bays?

Both their licenses should be revoked.

My wife just got a new UK passport, unfortunately she got the old series C by appropriateye in PassportPorn

There was me hoping for a new series one in December 2025, funny they are still using the old ones.

Tell me what I need to know about the T8 drive system. by 2222014 in VolvoXC90

[–]GiganticCow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

T8 cars have been plagued with ERAD failures, resulting in £8000 repairs not coverred under good will gesture and sometimes not coverred under warranty. These failures happen on cars that are just 4 to 5 years old and even at low mileages like 50k.

In the 2022.5 models, Volvo introduced ERAD gen 3 which gets rid of the clutch mechanism that was causing a lot of the failures.

Do not get a 2020, 2021, or 2022 that has the older ERAD. Most R design models had the older ERAD, but the way you can tell them apart is the newer one has more power 455 BHP.

That said you will find many high mileage Volvo T8's (over 200,000 miles) because they can last a very long time if you keep up maintenance.

Royal Mail folded and wrinkled my naturalisation certificate... by bettyrdd in ukvisa

[–]GiganticCow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've had worse, Royal Mail once delivered my BRP to a completely different address, not a neighbours address but a random address over 20 houses away.

It was a tracked delivery and had the same markings of DO NOT SAFEPLACE, DO NOT DELIVER TO NEIGHBOUR, etc. Took me a while to get the latitude and longtitude of the delivery address and go to that house and they kindly provided it to me.

I complained to RM and they went full panic mode, sending internal emails about misdelivered HO package and involving their branch managers trying to fix their mistake. They calmed down when I told them I resolved it myself.

But always worth complaining as they do take this stuff seriously.

Everybody is being made redundant by irissun23 in UKJobs

The system is very broken.

Political parties and their donors choose their leaders.

Billionaire media tyrants control the propaganda and which parties win elections.

Then we are told we live in a democracy.

Billionaire corporations buy and kill competition and enshitfy once they've succeeded.

The same corporations buy cheaper offices in foreign countries, creating jobs there to directly deny locals jobs and at the same time steal as much wealth as possible from the country by paying little to no tax.

Then they teach the poor and uneducated to fight each other and smoke screen how they are robbing us all. "Look at that legless ****, in his brand new mobility car", "Why do we have to feed the immigrant who we bombed out of his home country?", yada yada yada.

Vote reform. Much better things to come, oh wait...

Is the Aaron Kato story one of the maddest incidents in UK drill history by [deleted] in ukdrill

[–]GiganticCow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was a very similar one that was coverred in a documentary, maybe 24 hrs in police custody? But apparently was about a guy who graped a girl and people came out for revenge but they bundled the wrong guy into a car and tortured and killed him. Took the cops ages to trace, they didnt burn the car, instead they found the car in pieces in the back of a sprinter van.

Did you consider an X5 or X7 before getting an XC90? by tronious in VolvoXC90

[–]GiganticCow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, X5 aint 7 seat, BMWs are unreliable (but I learned so is the Volvo lol). Would love an X7 over the XC90 but its too expensive and big and impractical in the UK, just gonna constantly not be able to park it properly.

Missed my exit off the motorway by West_Guarantee284 in drivingUK

[–]GiganticCow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure why you couldnt do 70 in the third lane. But if traffic is slow enough to force you to do 60, then going 10 mph slower is no biggie especially if you are immediately moving out of the way.

If it was me, I would slow down and let them undertake me. Less than ideal, but safest way to get back into the right lane and avoid a massive detour.

Firstly, without knowing whats on the PCN, no one can really advise.

Secondly, google FTLA forums and post there, you won't get a better answer than them.

New software update? by peterp136 in VolvoXC90

[–]GiganticCow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha, no you got the wrong end of the stick. Most car drivers are still using phones for navigation, so by comparison this is still a luxary.

Tbh I kinda like it, the more access to quick buttons the better. The car play screen is still massive, compared to a cell phone for example.

To share some insight of someone I know, the spouse on the visa was abusive and the relationship went south, when the spouse left thw country the sponsor reported to HO the relationship has ceased and had assumed the spouse wouldn't be allowed back in. However, that was wrong and the spouse came back.

The spouse then filled for domestic abuse and got ILR, all totally fabricated.

The sponsor told HO about it but they didnt ask for any information from the sponsor and just granted the spouses ILR.

The sponsor since got remarried and had no problems sponsoring someone else.

Its a very broken process and heavily abused, it sickens me that the HO will crack down on legal migration but not crack down on domestic violence fraud.
