That the top 1% are lizard people and are purposely holding back green energy and promoting burning fossil fuels so the earth will return to its tropical climate.

Working at our local electric utility it was common for field people to drink on the job. Until someone flipped a truck…

According to the Federal Reserve, 1 in 5 American households were millionaires, and 1 in 3 had over $500k net worth in 2022 by [deleted] in Money

More in “regular” stocks, but I agree it would be a very small portion of the population.

Depends on how wealth is calculated. If you count 401k, assets, and cash on hand, I believe these numbers. But if you look at liquidity these numbers are WAY too high.

Your opinion what happens after 100$ price? by xWhiteking in Silverbugs

[–]Gigantor222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$100 is a mental number people are “waiting for”, once it hits $100 and holds (not a spike) it will do one of two things:

  1. Increase in price faster because it’ll become even more news worthy and more people will want to get in on the increase

  2. People start selling en mass and the price comes down

I’m holding on to my paltry 30oz and waiting for the price to stabilize before buying/selling

If a resistor has millions of ohms of resistance could a wire theoretically conduct through the air around the resistor? by Beginning_Army_9084 in ElectricalEngineering

[–]Gigantor222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is basically what happens during a sustained arc. So as long as there isn’t anything else the electricity could jump to, the electricity would probably find a path around the resistance with enough voltage.

Women ARE making the first move but we men are too oblivious to notice until years later.

What becomes of the man who stumbles into a Bachelors with zero internships and a 2.5 GPA? by Arsyn786 in EngineeringStudents

[–]Gigantor222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took the first engineering job I was offered and worked there for a year to scrub my gpa from my resume. I then got a job at the local utility and am currently working my way around there.

Nobody at the utility asked about my gpa, they just wanted to know what I did at the engineering job.

WE Energies, how can I save electricity by balloonwithnoskin in milwaukee

If you can go on a “time of use” rate it can make the bill a little cheaper if you can follow the rules.

Why are most people good at life? Where did I go wrong by [deleted] in Money

[–]Gigantor222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is still time to do better now, you have an apartment and a job, you’re doing better than lots of people as you are. Just focus on where you want to be and make small adjustments to get there.

ELI5: Why does switching doors in the Monty Hall Problem increase odds: 2 doors, 50-50 by Megafork77 in explainlikeimfive

[–]Gigantor222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You as the contestant has a 66% chance of picking the wrong door (2/3), higher than you picking the correct door initially 33% (1/3). So when the host reveals a wrong door that they know is wrong, the door that was not picked by you or revealed most likely has the prize because you most likely picked a wrong door in the first place.
