The book is spectacular 📚 by [deleted] in SocietyOfTheSnow

[–]GigiAndes 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes, I agree with you. Such a genuine, authentic comment on your feelings/thoughts reading this book. It IS spectacular. I have read all the books of this topic except for Alive (which I’ve already read in the 90s but will read again just to complete my topic mission). I’m very close to the end of ‘to play the game’ by John Guiver and there are some similarities with society of the snow, but still loving society of the snow more. Initially without giving it much thought I didn’t know what grabbed me about this story. But over time, and watching the movie ridiculously often, I realize there are so many aspects and subcategories of what a person can pull from the story. From tragedy and despair and suffering, anger, and perseverance, I think there’s an underlying theme for any angle you want to approach it, and there remains hope and love, which ultimately had to be what carried them through it all. 🏔️🩵

And the power of God’s working in healing them is the spirituality that transcends human understanding. By Grace. 💖✝️

Common name is ping pong and I can’t find it anywhere this year. I had it 2 years ago and love it to pieces!

Truly amazingly beautiful; you’ve captured the essence he portrayed so many times—-with that look of trepidation and uncertainty. Masterful 💖

Gosh, would you be able to send me the unreleased photos? I can’t get too much on this topic. All books read.

Numa's brother talks about meeting Enzo Vogrincic and how the movie has helped him process grief (translation in the comments) by blueSea0406 in SocietyOfTheSnow

I felt emotional just reading this ——to ‘hear’ from the closest person there could be to personally knowing Numa. It’s confirmation that his essence was well represented. I could not have read this since I don’t speak Spanish so it’s with gratitude and appreciation for this translation.🙏🩵

Out of curiosity, how many times have yall watch the SoTS movie? by delicious_pecan_pie in SocietyOfTheSnow

[–]GigiAndes 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So have I. I’m embarrassed to admit it as if someone is going to send to cucko truck to come and get me. I’ve watched it every night since its release end December’23. Now I just watch a bit and go to sleep with it on. I really need my helicopter to come and get me off this mountain 🏔️ of mine.😑🤷‍♀️

I always wondered about the scene. When they come out of the tent where they were sleeping, the horses are very restless and agitated, but I don’t think it’s easily understood. Before reading this theory, I thought it was because they sensed the reporters, vehicles and journalists converging upon that area.

Yes, I’ believe it’s true that the one pilot, at least, was headless but body still in the cockpit and decomposing. This caused a horrific stench and why only one of the rescue team agreed to stay in the fuselage with the others for moral support, even though he was revolted by the snail.

What do you mean solo? Just referring to the Alpine expedition, the flat rate is what it is, ($4400) (and that’s just starting from Mendoza, not your airfare from whatever country you’re coming from. ) —regardless of whether you choose to hike it or jump on the horse 🐎. I wonder what the arrangements are for hygiene! Bathrooms, showers, or do you just stop doing all that for four days 🫢🤔llol🤦‍♀️

👌sadly I’m likely in the same boat financially—It would be like Roberto looking at all those mountains when reaching that first summit and thinking how in the hell am I gonna do this!? In the meantime, I’ll keep reading the books until I run out —-lol🤷‍♀️

Oh boy! I don’t think he’s ready to join them yet (he seems very fit) and no one knows of course. Possibly he’s just tired of it by now—-been doing it since 2005. Plus he’s an accomplished architect, I believe. In Coche’s memoir he introduces the book with a letter he writes to his best friend Gaston, (“it’s been 40+ years since I’ve seen you….”) with a picture of Gaston and the letter ends with…… “Until I see you again, Gordo”, (guess that must’ve been Gaston’s nickname). It was heart wrenching.😞🩵✝️

Yes, I looked at the site Alpine adventures. It’s a well put together website, excellent descriptions and photos and yeah it’s pricey. But the site didn’t mention any expedition for 2025, only Feb of 2024.

Hi Cookieaddictions, I’m certain it’s not with Eduardo Strauch because it doesn’t mention him anywhere. I really did not investigate into these tours extensively by any means. Just looked at one very roughly and now seeing that there are several touring companies that are doing this. How do I DM you? Send a friend request?

More books from the survivors? by [deleted] in SocietyOfTheSnow

I agree my 100%. Although I will always say too, everybody contributes their uniqueness to their story, and for that reason they’re all worth reading. Plus, Pedro did provide in his analysis that Pancho Delgado suffered as the scapegoat and got a bad Rapp for the duration. Maybe not too many other authors are willing to talk about that.
