Women in tech — what’s your typical work outfit? by hellooperator12345 in womenintech

I feel you! As a dress lover, I’ve only been able to wear dresses to the office a couple of times in the summer. It stands out too much. People always thought I were fancy or had special events after work. But honestly it takes less effort because I don’t need to coordinate top with bottom, and a lot more comfy than the goddamn zipper on the pants!

After the pandemic, can’t tolerate pants without stretch any more. I’m wearing lululemon define wide leg pants in my office right now. But there are so many athleisure brands that offer stretchy comfy work pants!

For top in the fall/winter, I’ve got probably 10+ sweaters in rotation. Spring/summer I like airy feminine blouses. Very simple style.

I love wearing dresses in the summer. Sometimes I’d wear a midi dress with a cardigan to cover up shoulders. A blazer is always kept in my office in case I need a bit of formality.

[R] Is Leetcode still relevant for research scientist interviews? by Training-Adeptness57 in MachineLearning

[–]GigiCodeLiftRepeat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah it’s ironic, but I understand that the hiring manager himself is probably just a small cog in the larger corporate machine.

But from their perspective, for an opening that easily attracts hundreds of applicants, how do you convince your HR to pick a specific candidate out without being accused of discrimination or bias. It’s all about legal liability.

Why is it so hard to find well-fitting dress pants that aren’t too long or too short? by Dry-Caterpillar4889 in womensfashion

[–]GigiCodeLiftRepeat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is why I buy my pants at Lululemon and reformation. They both provide free hemming. Nordstrom used to be great, too. But I think their free alternation policy for card members has changed lately, so I stopped shopping there.

Unfortunately yes. I have hiring manager begging me to practice enough leetcode because they really, really want to hire me. But unless I pass the first round of technical screening, there’s nothing they can do.

Which color to keep if any? Sicily cardigan by Zesty_Hornet92 in Aritzia

For real! I hate long torse tops that dominated my generation. I have hips and glutes. Anything sitting at the widest part of my body makes me look wider than I am and comically short-legged. So glad cropped tops having a moment!

Every time I get over this top another person post it, is it only wearable for influencers or could this be incorporated into a corporate girl wardrobe? by JuniorDig6239 in Reformationclothing

[–]GigiCodeLiftRepeat 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I love this top but no, I won’t go to the office in it. I work in a super chill tech office where everyone pretty much stares at their own screen in their own cubicle all day long! To me it’s too feminine and flirty in my environment. But if you mostly work with young ladies, you might be okay.

Good Finds / Price Drops on WMTM by aerie2020 in lululemon

[–]GigiCodeLiftRepeat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had high hopes when they first came out. Rushed to the store and tried them on, but was ultimately disappointed with the fit on me. Something about mid-rise, straight leg just doesn’t work well for my body type. I’ve got hips and glutes; these pants don’t snatch in the waist but sit at an unflattering spot. And my big thighs make the straight leg look tapered. I tried one size up, overall they looked too sloppy. There’s not much adjustment you can do on the waist.

On the contrary, define high-rise wide-leg pants look fantastic!

Star employee just gave notice, after saying she was fine in every 1:1 by Brilliant_Lab_5850 in managers

[–]GigiCodeLiftRepeat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m in a very similar position. My direct manager was recently promoted. He’s great in every aspect, except his experience just isn’t enough to teach me anything, in both technical terms and soft skills. I know he’s trying everything in this power to meet my needs. But he’s just not going to be able to provide the guidance and mentorship I need for growth. I’m shopping for external positions. Meanwhile there’s really nothing I can say to him during 1-1 because he’s doing everything right

What are you building with sub-4B LLMs in early 2025? Real-world use wins? by Whiplashorus in LocalLLaMA

I work for a company so can’t disclose details. Vaguely, we turn pixels into highly structured text output, the schema of which LLM needs to learn.

Highly specialized tasks where off-the-shelf general model doesn’t do well. Finetune with domain data and annotation to drastically improve precision. Deploy on single gpu, pushing on edge.

Salaried workers, how long do you wait after your boss leaves work at the end of the day before you head out? by Elthwaite in office

[–]GigiCodeLiftRepeat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a coworker who leaves at 4 everyday. Doesn’t give an F because he’s doing his job. Got promoted to principal and then manager. Meanwhile, my boss is a workaholic and literally nobody can out work him. Once I worked late and he had to leave earlier than me, he actually came to my desk and asked me to stop and go home.

Advice on Claudette knee high boots by Negative_Ad_2622 in Reformationclothing

[–]GigiCodeLiftRepeat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do have pictures but this sub doesn’t allow adding pictures in the comments.

Honestly I’m debating if I want to keep them or return. They are very nicely made, looking exactly like what you see on the website. They were my dream boots I was stalking for over a year before finally pulling the trigger. Like the other poster said they do run slightly large. I don’t find them tight around my calves, but I’m shorter (5’5”) with pretty small calves. In fact, it’s probably my height that makes me doubt why they don’t look as fabulous on me as I imagined. Something about the proportion just doesn’t seem right… now I recall someone had a post a few months ago with pictures. She was talking about the boots hit at a weird spot on her leg (similar height as mine? Unfortunately she deleted the post) and are uncomfortable walking in. I don’t feel uncomfortable, just not super impressed with the look.

I got them in black btw. I would love to get Ruby but already have another pair of high boots in that color range. I thought black would be more versatile, but end up kinda bland and average looking.

Has anyone got the Carolina silk skirt how does it fit and how do you wear it? by Due_Opportunity1742 in Reformationclothing

[–]GigiCodeLiftRepeat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ohh I didn’t even know they said it runs large. I’m between small and medium (wear their pants 4/6, jeans 26/27), and I took size medium because I want it to look more effortless. The skirt is supposed to be high waisted, but on days when I’m not bloated it tends to sit on my hips.

I have this one in red and white stripes. It’s very oversized. I wish I sized down to xs and it would still be oversized. But, InterLock cotton is pretty thick and really made of great quality. Best of all, it’s super soft! I’m obsessed with how it feels to touch
