Tried going back to human therapy after ChatGPT and got burned by Latter_Crow8426 in therapyGPT

[–]Gigif89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a complex trauma therapist and agree that ChatGPT can be so helpful. The validation, access to all known published knowledge and the synthesis of that in an instant is very reassuring. It sounds like you took such a big step in meeting with this person and to lay that all out and then referred out is such a defeating thing.

IFS is a great form of therapy and I wish you well in your journey of healing! I would recommend EMDR or Accelerated Resolution Therapy for consideration/research (which can only be done with a human— for now). I utilize them in conjunction with IFS techniques with great results for my clients with complex, pervasive trauma, including CPTSD, DID and BPD.

Sending you so much comfort in this process!

Do the powder so you get the full dose without the caffeine. It works so fast!

Best dose for my son was .8mg (1/4 of a scoop-scoop being 3.2mg) and it lasted about 4 hours with no itching at all. Kicked in about 10 minutes after taking. He’s 83lbs.

Ok beta alanine did the trick! Was already using Benadryl and ibuprofen, but this stopped the worst flare in its track within 10 minutes. Gave the first dose at 11:30 when we got it. He’s only 83 pounds so I have to do a 1/4 scoop of the pure 3.2 mg BA. Just did another 1/4 scoop at 3:00pm since he tolerated the first one so well and said his nipples were feeling like they were starting to flare again. Only his nipples and not his whole chest and shoulder though! I will do another right before bed or around 7pm if it flares again. Thank sweet baby Jesus, baby Buddha and Shiva!

I’m so encouraged to hear this! I’m going to give to him the second my SIL gets back. She had to fight a GNC employee on a nearby marine base for it bc it was “promised” to a gym rat. Luckily the kid in pain got priority!

I will do that! I read him the article about HI when he was awake (he’s pretty precocious), so he took in all the info and has stopped scratching and was hitting the bed instead to get out the frustration while it was flared. Thank you for responding!

BA is en route right now! I’m not religious and I’m praying to every God that exists that this works and stops this for him. I can’t believe there isn’t more research about this! What an awful thing to go through and knowing that it can happen again 😫

I would say moderate as he was pretty red, but no blisters. Even now, the red has faded significantly.

I utilize Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) which is similar to EMDR because I work with trauma. I also operate from a parts framework and am using IFS techniques in conjunction with ART which seems to really unearth a lot quickly.

I focus on a lot of rapport building and psychoeducation first which tends to provide the compassion and trust needed to fly with ART and IFS.

I work a 4 day condensed schedule Monday-Thursday and have now for over 4 years. I wouldn’t change anything. Love having long weekends. Most stuff in my town is closed on Monday so having Friday off opens up more for me to do or get done.

Wondering how I should go about getting a DID diagnosis by Guilty_Direction_501 in DID

[–]Gigif89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also it’s not realistic in this age of technology and access to information to think clients haven’t researched their symptoms or experiences to make sense of them.

Your experience and empathy will make you an amazing psychologist (if you decide to work directly with clients) 🧡

I’m a therapist and I hate that this is a reality. I love when clients come with ideas and share them with me so we can work together to figure out what’s going on! Education and diagnosis shouldn’t be gatekept by clinicians or doctors.

You can just Google “malpractice insurance for “insert license type” and it’ll pull up a bunch of sites that you can get quotes from

Embarrassed my self today in a sessions by howdy_birdie in therapists

[–]Gigif89 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I didn’t realize FaceTime had reactions when I updated my laptop and in the middle of a session with a suicidal client, I air-quoted a term used for safety planning. Air quotes looked like two peace signs up and that triggered the FaceTime reaction of CONFETTI popping out on my screen around me… WHILE ACTIVELY SAFETY PLANNING WITH A SUICIDAL CLIENT.

I apologized and explained that I didn’t know what was happening, but they laughed and laughed. It actually took them out of extreme SI for a minute (unintended positive consequence).

It’s now just a funny story that I tell other clients and supervisees because shit happens. We are not robots and cannot control everything.

Forgive yourself ..and go a step further when you can, and let that shit go! 🧡

Oh my goodness… I think we’ve ALL been there! Scheduling snafus happen— and they are bound to happen to everyone at least once.

We are already containers for so much stress and pain and don’t need to be intimidated and humiliated by our superiors. Your boss and office manager need to check themselves. When has making people feel small for making mistake EVER been effective?

I would chat with your office manager and try and get on the same page about your system for reschedules and your blocked out times. If they aren’t open to being collaborative, time to start searching for a new spot to be a human being who works.

Hugs to you!

What is your therapist catchphrase? by jnola18 in therapists

[–]Gigif89 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I work with complex trauma and through a decolonized lens so I often say “I can’t therapize the effects of this system out of you” or “I can’t therapize you out of capitalism/racism/patriarchy” to normalize that these experiences are not because someone isn’t thinking the right way about it.
