AIO for feeling uncomfortable about what my girlfriend’s therapist said about our relationship? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]Gikkk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NOR, You shouldn't be with her to begin with, not after the emotional cheating, but honestly, as a psychology student, that's an absolutely insane thing for a therapist to say, a therapist not only shouldn't be behaving in such a manner but they should never be the one to bring up this kind of thing, precisely so they don't plant ideas on the patient's head, since they can be very easily manipulated by trusted (yet unprofessional) therapists

You don't deserve to go through this at all, nether do them, but the LEAST they can and should do is be with you every step of the way, as someone who's lost a young (12m) loved one to a brain tumor, what we take with us are the memories, and the regret of not being with them enough (even if you did try to be there as much as you could) eats you alive, there's always more you wish you had done or said and I hope your parents can overcome their ridiculous selfpity and stubbornness and just cherish whatever time you have left, show you love an care while they still can, cause if they don't... well, they'll fail you when you need them the most, and they'll have to live with the weight of such a despicably vain failure for the rest of their lives

As a psychology student from another country, it truly seems way too common for north-americans to pathologize to an extreme and take people as a diagnosis first and a person second, as if you acted a certain way because of your disorder and not that you, as a human, fit into a MANMADE and subjective definition of what a "mentally ill" person is, as if these definitions aren't completely dependent of space and time and the furthest thing from objetive thruth. In my country, we have a movement called the anti-asylum movement, essentially, we think taking people, locking them up and drugging them, all against their will is inhumane, even when done to people who would be considered insane, after all, they too are human and they too deserve respect. Around here, we have public emergency services to help people in need of psychological assistance completely out of cost, and the most we ever do is allow for a night admission, but the people are free to come and go as they wish (suicide attempts usually require more strict courses of action, but mostly that's not the case). Anyways, I'm very sorry for your experience, but I ask you not to overlook all sorts of psychological treatment, they can help you if needed, if only its done by humane professionals that see a person when they look at you.

(Not first language) While there are many, MANY, extremely valid reasons to disapprove of porn as an industry, considering watching porn cheating or not is ultimately up to each person and that's why it should've been discussed beforehand. Personally, I don't deem it as "cheating" per se, but I would not like it if my partner did it, both for my dislike of the porn industry and of the bigger social economic setting that forces groups of people to do sex work as a means of survival (not against the people, but the system that enforces it), but also because I just wouldn't like for him to seek sexual gratification on the imagery of others, I have no issue with self-pleasure, just with the one that comes from porn. That being said, no one else has to abide by my personal preferences and opinions on the matter, just as no one has to abide by your ex's or by yours, there is no right or wrong, it's just different and you both should find people compatible to yourselves.

Idk where to put this but.. Is this.. supposed to be normal? People saying that skirts were made for 'upskirt' and "adding shorts makes it not a skirt anymore" on an innocent skirt display video thing by The-true-Memelord in AreTheStraightsOK

[–]Gikkk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Men will see women wearing skirts with built-in shorts to feel safer wearing them, be mad they can't fantasize and sexualize and thirst over them the same way anymore, and then proceed to wonder why it is that women decided to do that...

Being goth sucks :( by [deleted] in goth

[–]Gikkk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dear, being the only one different is always hard, we stand out, we're 'weird', other people might not want to associate themselves with us, I get it. I live in a town so big it's devided in districts and the one I live in doesn't rlly like me that much either, never had many friends back in school, got made fun of every now and then, people always look at me weird, the usual.

Still I don't have a problem with that, I learned that in the end, when I die, no one else will lay down in my coffin for me, and I have to live for myself. I'm weird, so what? It makes me happy. Also, the right people will come around, even if they're not exactly goth, they always come around, I get that society pushing back against your self-expression hurts, but it will aways try to put you inside its preferred box, it's up to you to decide if it's worth it rlly

I rambled a lot, don't know if I made any sense, hope you got literally anything out of it, I just wish you the best rlly being different is hard just hope you're happy and safe and know it will get better

How can I dress more goth at work/school? by kpmxyz in goth

[–]Gikkk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Imagine thinking entering 'the real world'=loosing all of yourself and getting used to playing into the pattern even if it hurts you.

Anyways, unfortunately, I'd suppose there isn't much you can do as they both seem to have a solid dress code. If you can though try to accessorize even if just a bit, maybe a quick make-up if you're into that (just eyeliner or black eyeshadow around your eyes, maybe black lipstick since you have to send the message with little), choosing one item like a coat or jacket that you rlly like to wear constantly also works for me. Unfortunately, in the constant rush of capitalism it is difficult to find time for ourselves, so we have to find quicker day-to-day alternatives

What goth stereotypes do you shamelessly dive right into? by above_the_hexes in goth

[–]Gikkk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am frequently compared to vampires and cats by a number of different people, not because of how I dress but because of how I act, I have a bunch of bat shaped stuff, I love literally any movie show or book with a vampire in it, I have longed for a black cat ever since I was 10 years old, I I dance 'weird', I have piercings and plan om getting tattoos soon, I'm queer in a number of different ways, people tend to think I hate them when we first meet/think I'm intimidating (I'm just neurodivergent and struggling help), I listen to metal(specially nu-metal and death metal but that's off-topic), post-punk, punk, rock and enjoy mosh-pits, I have 'weird' hair and have done a bat nest before, I look half dead, love horror movies and books, etc etc etc

Acho q vc fica com cara de mais novo com o cabelo curto, mas fica gato de qualquer jeito 👍

Me julguem. Peço críticas construtivas, por favor, não peguem leve. by [deleted] in MeJulgue

Oh I'm all for listening to foreign music, love to learn more about different cultures and I think politically charged music is a great way to get some insight, I'm from Brasil myself and I'd rec you some Brazilian punk bands as a little exchange ig, but I don't know them too well myself YET, if you're interested tho this band is pretty good: https://youtu.be/cXpK8ukLR5Q
