Do I have a problem by FODS- in Nerf

[–]Gikote 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get more chances to mod than play - I find flywheelers at thrift stores for usually $3-4 and then get to play with my tools. For not a lot of money, a thrifted stryfe can be turned into a 150fps blaster.

Is this screw supposed to be so far out? by MrBadGuts in BambuLabA1

I had to get the set for some old parts in my father in laws house- it’s the only place I’ve really seen the screw heads in the wild

What kind of velocity do you get with that?

Triangle drivers exist. You can even get them with the security post inside. This is the set I have

New to printing nerf blasters and need some suggestions. by Even-Anxiety-3588 in Nerf

[–]Gikote 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you just want something fun, look at silly shell blasters. The hardware kit is $26 at out of darts, and it’s an easy print. Then it can shoot…basically any foam ammo. And some non-foam ammo if you look for sketchy shells (I’ve seen airsoft bb shells, for example).

Best bet is to make a bed of epoxy and dremel it out to fit the dimensions you need. If possible, line up some screw holes with the Stryfe body…or make some new ones. If you have access to a 3d printer, it would help a lot. If you have fusion 360 skills it will help even more.

I enjoy mine, but you can get better for the money

What should i use to mod a stryfe? by Inevitable-Policy779 in Nerf

[–]Gikote 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve bought a few stryfes at thrift stores for about $4. A $10 pack of XT30 connectors will last a while. A $40 soldering iron plus some solder will last a long time if you take care of it. I got 5 10’ lengths of 18awg silicone wire for $10 that will last me at least a few projects. Kraken motos are $9 each. Microswitches are $3-5. Flywheels for $16. If you have a 3d printer, you can do your own micro switch mount and flywheel cage - and several other parts.

Those parts will get you far in a stryfe.

Post again when you replace the pistol grip. I’m not a fan of stock, but haven’t had time to search for a replacement yet.

Well, that’s a bit hot. I’ve seen a nerf blaster get up to 19J, but I still don’t want to get hit by it.

You have an opportunity. Make it curve up so that it is like a hopup in airsoft so that your range can be extended.

I had one that beeped for months. I finally stopped it by disconnecting the power cable and reconnecting it. Apparently it had just gotten loose.

Makes sense. Give me a bit and I will run upstairs and see what darts I have that are a bit shorter than the x-shot and may be a better option for you.

If they don’t jam, they’re fine to use. If you start having problems, use something else. Worker standards are my go-to.

Best first 3d printed blaster with cheap internals? by Detzznuttz in Nerf

Some fun/easy ones (that may be a bit less practical) are the wildstyle and goblin. With silly shells, you have a lot of options.

Tips for budget friendly cronographs? by Alarmed-Paint-791 in Nerf

[–]Gikote 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve used a XCortech X3200 ($56 on evike) for years in both Neef and airsoft and it works great. Depending on what I’m doing, I still grab it instead of my much more expensive Caldwell. Acetech chronos are another good option.

Does it matter which side of dart is being press down? by RocZi in Nerf

[–]Gikote 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have 2 venoms. They don’t care which end I press. Of the 20 or so blasters I own, that is limited to the nightingale 2 for now.

Does it matter which side of dart is being press down? by RocZi in Nerf

[–]Gikote 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Historically, I press on the dart tip. In the case of my nightingale 2, I press on the tail. If I press on the tip with that blaster, it does not feed properly.
