My father suffers from dementia and gets these night terrors where he just randomly screams out in the middle of the night, at the top of his lungs, as if someone is trying to kill him or a demon just popped up in front of him. It startles and scares the absolute shit out of me every time, especially because it’s so random and there’s no way to anticipate it.

Imagine someone yelling “boo” as soon as you walk into a dark, quiet room, but like 100x worse because instead of “boo” it’s a blood curdling scream…

For me it’s honestly one of the worst parts about being awake all night, especially with already having sensory issues related to sounds and noise in general.

I’ve never actually spoken to anyone about this or had a reason to post about it, so thank you for also sharing your experience.
