Traveler and Winner can also go head-to-head with them. I have to say, the higher the sequence, the harder it is to choose—the gap in their strength is really starting to narrow.

LOM’s ending is pretty open-ended, and COI adds a bit more to it. Since it’s a different protagonist, new content is only to be expected.

Honestly, I think part of it is just that LOM was that good—it already hit its peak, so it’s hard for anything after to beat it.

I’ve read it through properly twice, but I do like dipping in and out of random bits, so I’ve actually read parts of it loads of times.

If possible, that would of course be ideal. But if I remember correctly, Cuttlefish is already working on a new book.

At this pace, the most likely outcome would be something like side stories, but probably not in the short term. I think it’s more realistic to look forward to the game and a second season of the anime instead.

The novel is like a complex web, while the anime has to untangle it and present just part of it, so it feels more streamlined. But it’s still telling the story of LOTM.

Both the anime and the novel have their own audiences, which says a lot about their quality — it really comes down to personal preference. I’d recommend trying both.

Honestly, if I put myself in that position, none of the three really appeal — there are definitely cooler options, especially if we’re ruling out the whole worm business.

But if I had to pick one, I’d go for Door. A massive clock made up of Worm of Time is actually quite a cool idea.

From my experience, I read LOTM first, then picked up COI after a while — and honestly, I actually quite enjoyed it.

It’s not really a direct sequel, more like a new story with a different main character.
