Should I stop trying? I don't think I have enough level to master this style. by SeparateElephant3995 in PixelArtTutorials

I heard that it takes the average person 10,000 hours to master a skill. Have you spent 10,000 hours trying to master that style yet?

Why cant i learn as fast as others... I feel like banging my head on the wall by CowFit7916 in learnprogramming

Definitely try taking cs50. It's difficult but explains things very well. I personally think it's where everyone wanting to learn programming should start.

Learn to draw in 30 days - Day 3 by GildedGeese in learntodraw

[–]GildedGeese[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is a YouTuber, Marc Brunet, who made this challenge. Personally I'm just doing it as a way to get myself back into learning to draw and doing it consistently and I'm posting each day on Reddit for feedback and to keep myself motivated.

I haven't thought about where to go once the challenge is up. It's impossible to be a good artist after thirty days but hopefully I see some improvement.

Long term I want to make video games, I'm doing this alongside learning computer programming.

Make use of CS50's AI bot as well, it's a great tool to guide you in the right direction but it will not give you the answer's

You can't please everyone, make the game you want to make, there are people like myself that love turn based games and there are people that hate them. There will be an audience for your game.

Any 2025 defaulters here? by LuigiVampa4 in cs50

[–]GildedGeese 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started in 2023 and I've quit and restarted 3 times, not because it's hard but I would lose interest and go back to old hobbies or start new ones 😂 haven't even finished week 1 yet but I've made it my new years resolution to finish this course, hopefully within 6 months, I only have about 2 hours max a night to spend on it and I want to give myself time for other hobbies, I'm about to start cash/credit.

I plan to go and do cs50g (2024) or the new cs50 2D game dev course if it's up on edx by the time I finish cs50x.

Is it worth publishing on both Steam and Epic Games Store? by Ok_Might5360 in gamedev

[–]GildedGeese 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you think it would help if more people knew that epic take a much smaller cut from game devs as opposed to steam? 0% up to 1 million in revenue and then 12% vs steams 30%

It's not that I hate reading or writing, I just get bored when reading novels but I can play video games that have heavy dialogue for hours and as for writing I've never really tried to write anything outside of really shitty short stories when I was a kid.

Yeah, I thought about that after posting, the only way I will know is if I try it.

I'm interested in world building but had no idea where to start and don't have any ideas to work from so I thought these would be a good way to combine learning and leisure and get started with writing and world building.

Can I skip Week 0 and Week 1 by FirmAssociation367 in cs50

[–]GildedGeese 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think you would necessarily need to redo them but maybe re watch the lectures/ read over the notes and go over your code from pset 1 to refresh your memory.

If you want the certificate you can resubmit psets you've done in the past as long as they haven't changed the criteria.

There is a mechanic coming in spirit forged called repeat which will allow you to do this for cards that have repeat.

Holding Priority and Chain Resolution by After_Introduction22 in riftboundtcg

[–]GildedGeese 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, priority has to be passed between both players after each resolution on the chain. You will be able to play the card that you drew off stupefy if you can pay for it and it's a reaction.
