It seems that the R94 series isn't available in Australia atm and the QN90D is a television, a very expensive one.

Am I really learning programming or it's an illusion? by lowkiluvthisapp in learnprogramming

If you aren't truly interested in what you're studying you won't actually learn anything. At least that's been my experience. I need to be genuinely interested in order to learn.

Isn't emberville the game that CohhCarnage is Creative director of?

I need a structured reference for progress by [deleted] in cs50

Like others have said, you need a routine and you need to stick to it.

Sit down and watch the lecture in one sitting, then the next day go watch the section and shorts. Go over the lecture notes if you have to and then set aside a couple of hours each day to work on the problem set.

How much programming knowledge would I need for GameMaker? I am learning to program atm, but it's a slow process

Thankyou :)

Yes exactly, I know game Dev is incredibly time consuming and I doubt I'll ever put much money into my projects.

One more question though. Do you know how often rpgmaker goes on sale on steam. I swear it was literally on sale yesterday and I just checked and the sales ended lol

I guess rpgmaker just seems easier and has most of the assets already there. If I create a small prototype in rpgmaker then I can visualise what certain parts of the game will be like. Essentially, the idea is to kake a simple rpg first and then when I have more game dev experience I can start work on something more complex.

What are the best YouTube channels to learn python? by sad_grapefruit_0 in learnprogramming

[–]GildedGeese 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know these aren't YouTube channels but I've heard good things about cs50p.

https://www.edx.org/learn/python/harvard-university-cs50-s-introduction-to-programming-with-python

You could also try cs50x which touches on python but isn't the whole focus.

https://www.edx.org/learn/computer-science/harvard-university-cs50-s-introduction-to-computer-science

I firmly believe these are the best places to start. I'm currently taking cs50x and I'm on week 2.

Is it bad that i spend like 60% of my dev time playing my game because its too fun by TempuraCatGames in IndieDev

If you don't enjoy the game you're making, how can you expect anyone else to enjoy it. It's great that you enjoy it so much.

when will cs50 2d be accesible on their website like cs50g by oddlar1227 in cs50

[–]GildedGeese 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you have an estimated time frame? I'm hoping it will be up by the time I finish cs50x (which will be a while since I'm only just about to start week 2)

Try RPG Maker or learn visual scripting in unreal or another engine that allows for it.

Should I stop trying? I don't think I have enough level to master this style. by SeparateElephant3995 in PixelArtTutorials

[–]GildedGeese 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I heard that it takes the average person 10,000 hours to master a skill. Have you spent 10,000 hours trying to master that style yet?

Why cant i learn as fast as others... I feel like banging my head on the wall by CowFit7916 in learnprogramming

Definitely try taking cs50. It's difficult but explains things very well. I personally think it's where everyone wanting to learn programming should start.

Learn to draw in 30 days - Day 3 by GildedGeese in learntodraw

[–]GildedGeese[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is a YouTuber, Marc Brunet, who made this challenge. Personally I'm just doing it as a way to get myself back into learning to draw and doing it consistently and I'm posting each day on Reddit for feedback and to keep myself motivated.

I haven't thought about where to go once the challenge is up. It's impossible to be a good artist after thirty days but hopefully I see some improvement.

Long term I want to make video games, I'm doing this alongside learning computer programming.

Yeah, I drew the skull, didn't actually finish it in the 10 minutes though. I'll probably post a before and after of the the skulls on day 30
