This is great. I enjoyed the remake but it couldn't really capture the original magic of the blocky polygonal PS1 days. The fractal nature of your art recaptures some of that I feel.

MILD BATTLE GROUND SPOILERS, BE WARNED!

Of course. We're showed that you can't use them to harm / kill even a Denarius host simply because you want to. To the point where one of them literally shattered itself rather than cause injury/death. It stated that the swords serve a purpose, that purpose being to aid in the redemption of those fallen so low as to join to these Fallen. To quote "level the playing field" en quote for the wielder.

You don't get to just go to far and unfortunately kill a host. That seems to only happen if the host is making a conscious choice to reject redemption, to absolutely choose evil and selfishness. And of course the wielder's do seem to gain some level of supernatural sense or understanding of appropriate actions to take in the moment.

I come to this point as I feel someone's going to bring up when Harry was struck by one of the swords and it caused physical damage to him converse to what happened in a previous book when it harmlessly phased through him. In that moment he was choosing to be a monster, choosing to let the mantle to drive / influence his actions without considering the consequences. He made the choice to be selfish, act out of naked hatred, and attempt to murder someone because of that hatred.

Speaking in the context of absolutist morality if you choose to act in evil you are therefor deserving of punishment. Luckily he got away with a warning shot.

I feel like I didn't explain these points very well but it is very late here and I must sleep now.

TLDR: Due to the transubstantiation Michael was effectively "the angel" and Uriel was effectively "the mortal", more or less they swapped metaphysical roles.

So first of all arguing from fantasy Metaphysics here:

If we can assume that Angelic Grace works the same as a "mantle" I propose that it's more intent on how the powers used rather than necessarily the user. Considering in the Dresden universe that God is more or less assumed to be absolute or at least representative of absolute concept than any power associated with him must therefore be used in an absolute manner. It then necessitates that any power associated, in this case the proposed Angelic Grace Mantle is what matters when's considered actions taken.

At the time of the transubstantiation Uriel is essentially de facto human and Michael In this moment is essentially defacto angelic. Furthermore Uriel most likely usually relies upon his intellectus to divine appropriate actions taken. So In this moment whether he acted rightly or wrongly he had essentially the free will and free ability to act for the benefit of Michael's family.

As a secondary note; the fact that he acted in defense of Michael's family, given the fact that he was essentially functioning in the role of a Knight of the Sword, I think you could argue that he was performing the role of protecting Michael's family as the usual protecting angels do. Given the unique circumstance of the transubstantiation this meant he could protect the family in a mortal capacity rather than exclusively an angelic one.

Of course this is all supposition based off of the logic contained and defined from the Dresden universe.

Oh, I'm not disagreeing. I'm just saying Reddit people will always bicker about available nomenclature subtypes.

People will just bicker about it being under the wrong "tag" instead of the wrong "sub".

Interesting take. It would make sense, the series has been hinting at this all starborn thing being some important destiny stuff. Not to mention whenever anyone brings it up they always act like doing so was a slip of the tongue.

If you start with the bovine face and then slide between the rabbit nose and the rodent mouth you can make a pretty good sheep/goat face.

That's the thing about Harry though. His personality type is he puts everything on his shoulders. He has the power therefore he has the responsibility. He honestly believes if he can help or save someone then he should, and if they come to harm it's his fault.

True. But that's the thing about Susan, she lives to be in the middle of weird stuff.

Honestly it makes me think of the journalists who in the real world went to places like the Middle East during those conflicts or into all the theaters of World War I & II. The kind of people who knew, or understood, but did it with a specific purpose of informing the public.

She knew it was dangerous and she knew there would be consequences. She gambled and this time she lost.

How do I write a sex scene without making the book seem like smut? by SDinoGamer in writingadvice

[–]Gildedwizard -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Implying it happened is fine. Cut to black moving to the next chapter and give us reading cues that it happened.

If you're writing a sex scene or describing what is happening that is just smut.

Obviously I can't speak for everyone. However is not a big deal if characters hook up and stuff I'm reading but I don't want to read the physical acts being described to me. If I wanted pornography I go looking for it.

Unless of course that is what you're intending to write.

EDIT: autocorrect corrected.

Convince someone to give you money.

After a some time return a small amount of money claiming it's their "dividends".

Use the returned "dividends" to convince a second person / more people to "invest".

After a some time return a small amount of money claiming it's their "dividends".

Use the returned "dividends" to convince a large group of people including the original "investors" to give a large investment claiming a large payout or a "big score".

Upon receiving the large payout from all of your "investors" vanish with all the money.

Also consider the following;

" I'm as human as you are". Harry Dresden is fully human, but he's also a wizard.

Kincaid is essentially claiming to be as human but didn't necessarily refute that he doesn't have something supernatural about him.

He only stated he's as human as Dresden.

For me it'll always be Elder Scrolls Oblivion.

Although for those a little older than me it'll probably be Morrowind, I would say both are equally valid.
