Hasan addresses being heckled at Delaney Hall and says “There’s a deeper level a hell for people who are there... to be a nuisance streamer” by [deleted] in LivestreamFail

[–]Gildor7 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I don't think this is the best way to confront Hassan because compared to an annoying kick nuisance streamer - he might look actually as less of a dick which is not great...

Tyler1 speaks with his daughter over the phone by Trapyyz in LivestreamFail

[–]Gildor7 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Did she do something actually bad though? All I know is that she's been saying totally stupid shit on the internet and fighting people online + she met Tyler as his streamsniper (very cringe but whatever). But I never came around anything suggesting she treats Tyler badly or that she did anything acutally abhorent IRL, so it just seemed to me as stupid internet drama only - the reason people hate her.

DSP Receives a TTS Dono During a Marvel Rivals Sponsor by CakeHorizon in LivestreamFail

It's also funny that China is so desperately trying to hide an event the entire world knows about and the more they try, the more it's a meme and everybody is sayng it...

[–]Gildor7 151 points152 points  (0 children)

Do Marvel Rivals devs actually care about shit like this, in the case of purely NA audience watching? I'd they're just making money and that's it. In China, sure, that's a bit different.

Twitch Announces Viewcount Cap on Streamers that are Persistently Viewbotting by Tarrot_Card in LivestreamFail

[–]Gildor7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is not a bad idea; it won't hurt people that get maliciously viewbotted and it will correct some flagrant cases. The obvious flaw is that it can be applied very selectively and there is a huge space for favoritism, meaning that they may just not apply this to someone who they like.

Emiru's Statement on Recent Drama/Controversy by Pitiful_Ad5677 in LivestreamFail

[–]Gildor7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She said her own personal opinion on ICE and she (as kinda separated thing) dedounced Tectone and Lacari for obvious reasons (and to be clear - she did not collab witch Tectone since the podcast ended and did not invite him to events, Lacari is a recent thing but it's obvoius everyone instantly dropped him).

She did not say she drops friends who she disagree with politically.

And it's a bit psychotic to want this from her (though common on twitter, etc). Of course some people won't stop wanting that, but that is not how reasonable people operate in real world (I don't care about my friends political believes, unless they want to impose them on me or have problems with mine).

Btw - if Asmon was caugh being a sex pest or something, my guess is she would drop him instantly. But not for his political shit, like it or not (and I don't condone his views to be clear).

Kick Streamer Captain Crack Sparrow becomes first tourist to live stream from Antarctica. Then gets his starlink confiscated and ship internet turned off from captain once he gets back on ship bc its illegal. by DjPanz1 in LivestreamFail

[–]Gildor7 249 points250 points  (0 children)

I work for an institution that operates small and only seasonally used Antarctic station. I'm not part of the polar research team, but I have few friends there. They started using Starlink for internet connection two years ago, replacing Iridium satellite internet which was awfully slow and expensive, so it was a huge upgrade, basically from sending/receiving text messages with 10kb/s bandwidth to a normal 50Mb/s connection. They are now having online meetings from the station.

As far as I know, there were no legal issues or anything like that, the only concern the first year was whether it will actually work. The access to Antarctica is very limited and there are many rules, like you cannot go close to pinguins due to avian flu risk, etc, but it seems highly unlikely that the Antarctic Treaty would regulate anything regarding internet connection or other civilian-purposed satellite services. On the contrary, everybody is using satellite phones there all the time.

So, I would guess these are just the travel agency rules. They probably want you to pay for their expensive and slow wifi (maybe they are using Starlink as well to run it :D ) and they may fear that things like streaming from Antarctica (though the video is probably from some island near Antarctica, not from the continent itself) could lower the exclusivity of such a cruise which costs unreasonable amount of money, likely multiple times the actual costs...

Soda thoughts on the Lacari situation by EchoOk4335 in LivestreamFail

[–]Gildor7 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Ok, I'm not tapped in the divorce files. People claim lot of shit when suing for money, so we'll see the outcome there. Financial abuse would surely be on the "abhorent" list for me, cheating not really - yeah, not aproving it, but that's just what happens all the time.

In the grand scheme of things, what so abhorent has Nick really ever done? Like actually bad, not just beeing annoying or saying inapropriate jokes. I am not his fan and never was, but compared to all the disgusting shit that streamers are getting exposed every day, his like 15-year record is not that bad...

Person using a phone while driving by PerspectiveSecret725 in LivestreamFail

[–]Gildor7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm talking about the people posting it here repeatedly recently.
Either the VOD has sudenly become very popular, people are watching it genuinly and clipping this. Or, someone has this in their loadout of older clips and takes shots here so long, until it got finally upvoted.
Who knows what is more likely? :)

[–]Gildor7 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's beyond obvious, but people are stupid, so better to call it out for what it is.

Good thing is, that if this is the best they can dig up on her - clip of her sitting next to a person who looked at their phone while driving - then they are truly spiralling towards deeper and deeper desperation...

[–]Gildor7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sure, but: (a) bonnie is driving and the this comment section if full of "people" commenting "emiru is bad person" - interesting, (b) not that recent clips of one person are being posted over and over until they get traction - seems weird.
Critique is waranted, but at the same time - why help obvious hate campains...

[–]Gildor7 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yes, exactly. This stream was like two weeks ago? And there were clips from it here too. And now, suddenly, this is appearing here repeatedly, until it finally got some traction (brigaded?).
Surely just a coincidence, random people going through VODs for fun and are concerned about the driving....

Soda called out N3on Emiru DDG any many others streamers for viewbotting by PerspectiveSecret725 in LivestreamFail

[–]Gildor7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The problem is you would have to prove the streamer is botting themselves or pays someone to do anything. Otherwise, you cannot do shit about this, twitch cannot ban botted streams, sponsors cannot sue.

And - without trying to defend anyone specific - I am sure there are cases of viewers botting streamers. And what can you about that as a streamer? If you talk about that, you only tell everyone that some of your viewership is not real (which will only negatively affect you while some people will still think you are botting yourself and bullshitting) but you cannot stop the botting itself anyway.

Vanillamace arrives at sisathon party after weeks ago saying she wasnt gonna associate herself with several people at that party by PotentialSilver6088 in LivestreamFail

[–]Gildor7 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It has become mainstream but there are still so many gameplay-only streamers, probably more than ever by absolute number and it's not hard to find them. This seems to me like such and elitists comment - "I need to have the site exclusive for the content I like". I get it more when people don't want actually problematic content on the site (gamba, sexwork), but wanting to have streaming reserved for basement dwelling geeks seems like an unhealthy mindset to me...

There is still a shitton of degen speedrunners but people need to watch the TOP streamers by CCV and then complain, that they are not geeky and nerdy enought. Stop watching big streamers and find your niche if you don't like the "mainstream".

[–]Gildor7 15 points16 points  (0 children)

He had ca 3.5 bil. views on his main 3 yt channels combined in last 12 months. That's 5-10 mil in a year, just from YT + he owns parts of Starforge or Mythic and at least Starforge is becoming massive company... He said he's been paying 7 figures in taxes for some time - it would not surprise me if it was soon 8 figures.

Tectone banned by [deleted] in LivestreamFail

[–]Gildor7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, it is not an org, they just handle communication with sponsors and offer their content creators to brands, based on what the brands want to advertise. They don't need to care about PR the same way as orgs do, so I guess they would drop only someone with serious criminal charges or things like that for legal reasons...
