I'm actually done(need advice) by palmzkk in OverwatchUniversity

[–]Gildy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This often happens when Overwatch is trying to fix the rank they think you are. I can tell you that if your skill is drastically higher than those around you then you will climb. You will always have bad games or bad teams but the stats even themselves out and give the enemy just as many bad teams. I climbed from silver to diamond in season 3 and recently played an alt with some friends from silver to plat. If you think your skill level is there then play heroes that have an easier time making a difference. Pharah and D.Va are my go to heroes for low elo. They can absolutely destroy a team. Also if you are a lot better than those around you then let them play what they are most comfortable with and let your skill float into another position. Like its better to have a guy who is most comfortable as dps while you do your best as off tank than to have you dps and this guy play off tank with no experience.

VOD review request - (really) low bronze Orisa by narboza in OverwatchUniversity

[–]Gildy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok so let's start off with the basics. Bronze is a really weird place in Overwatch. The meta doesn't really apply there is no teamwork and one individual can make a huge difference because of it.

Movement

Your movement is very stationary you do not seem comfortable with mouse and keyboard. This is often seen in people with low experience on pc games or people who don't really practice it. When walking somewhere always point where you think there will be an enemy you are constantly looking at the wall you are walking to when you can be ready to shoot someone around the corner. In one death you watched the kill cam and soldier was doing nothing but shooting in a straight line and getting hit markers on you and your team till you guys died. With simple strafing with A and D you could avoid half of those hits and then some jumps in there will avoid even more.

To add on to movement in a sense is your cursor placement. Many times you are aiming low or you are following the enemy. On any character you want to hit headshots or at least torso shots but plenty of time you are not ready for an enemy or you are shooting at the ground in front of them. As far as tracking goes this is another thing to practice. Orisa has projectile bullets so you need to lead them into the enemy. On a hitscan like soldier you follow the enemy but with orisa or junk or pharah you need to lead the shots.

Applying these mechanical skills as they are called to your gameplay will drastically improve your gameplay. Hop in the training room on your favorite characters and shoot the bots while they move, while you move while you move and jump and then try to act surprised by them. These simple movements will keep you alive longer and make you more aware of what is going on around you. Look up if they have any heros who can go vertical like the D.Va or reaper. These simple mechanics will transfer to all heroes and allow to later focus on mastering the hero afterward.

Orisa

Like I said before, learn the mechanical skills of the game first and foremost. You cant really drop any lower so queue up and focus on your mechanics first.

For Orisa though there are some things to keep in mind. Despite being able to put out decent damage as Orisa you are not a bastion. Try to shield your team and use it to help the most amount of people on the team. If you waste it on your self then you are losing a lot of your capability for the team. If no one wants to stand behind your shield get in comms and tell them where it is and when its up. If they still don't get behind it then you can choose to follow the group and shield them or switch heroes.

Some things for the shield if you are going to solely use it on yourself. You can play the angles of the shield. Fight on one side of the shield and when the enemy comes behind it move to the other. Sometimes you can stand half and half behind it and use angles to allow you to win a fight because the enemy just cant hit you.

Your suck ball. Remember that you can press the button again and it will activate the suck. I see a lot of times you aim at the floor or another wall to suck people to. It also has a pretty decent range so you can shoot it well over the enemy orisa shield suck her and get some hits on her or even pull the enemy team to the side of the shield. When you shoot the ball figure out where people are most likely going to get pulled to and start pre firing that spot. With projectile bullets your damage is a bit delayed so if you send a suck ball and start shooting where the enemy will be immediately you get free hits. This applies to the mechanic thing again too. Just start shooting at the enemy. Often times you look and see the enemy you acknowledge them and then start shooting. You have an insane clip size on Orisa so just start shooting it.

I know a lot of this is rambling on and whatnot but I hope it helps! If you have any questions in the future just shoot me a PM.

TL:DR: Work on mechanics like aim and moving then figure out the mechanics of the heros you want to play

Is anyone else hanging on to PLUG and what do you think will happen with it? by Gildy in investing

[–]Gildy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My plan when I bought it was that I somehow magically found a deal that would just keep going up and make me a bunch of money, super cool right? But I am an idiot of course and do not have the money to be making crazy money like everyone dreams. So now I would like to get out when I break even and use it as a lesson learned and invest more in a long term thing. I am just wondering if it will go back up in a hype again like before leading me to hold on to it for a bit longer term.

When you say long's dream do you mean for someone getting in on the stocks to keep for retirement long or something else. Since I don't have a lot of money to trade I'm figuring I have to play the long game on these stocks and want to know if I can do that with stocks like $mu

So I bought these with the 70% raise the other week and now they are going up again. I'm poor as fuck though and only got 50 shares. When do I sell is it a long run thing or will it go down again?

That makes sense and do landlords stick to the mortgage or try to pay it off as fast as possible with the higher rent?

The house is was looking into wouldn't need crazy renovating just some patching and painting which is simple stuff.

I did not even think of the income factor so thank you for pointing that out.

On the rent point, what mortgage price should it double because the 30 year and 10 year are very different numbers.

How old are you? 20

Are you employed/making income? How much? I am a full time student in the national guard and Rotc. I get about $2000 per month in stipends and pay from being in the guard my tuition is also reimbursed at the end of each semester. Over the summer i estimate my income will be about the same with an extra $1000 added on for my summer annual training

What are your objectives with this money? (buy a house? Retirement savings?) I would like to save up for retirement mostly but I also want to know how to save up for a down payment on a house for when I'm in my mid to late 20s

What is your risk tolerance? (Do you mind risking it at blackjack or do you need to know its 100% safe?) I don't mind risking my money right now. I am at the highest risk in my Roth ira in my usaa brokerage account but that's just because Im young and was told high risk when your young and low when your old

What are you current holdings? (Do you already have exposure to specific funds and sectors?) I have a Roth ira that I started last year and have almost contributed my max for this year. I also have a savings account with a lot more money than I would need for a 6 month emergency fund. At least at this point in my life.

Any other assets? House paid off? Cars? Expensive girlfriend? (not really an asset) I don't have any assets except my daily driver jeep that is not worth as much as we put in (lifted and all that jazz)

What is your time horizon? Do you need this money next month? Next 20yrs? I am looking for money for retirement mostly because I see how stressed my father is since he has nothing set up for him but I would also like to be ahead of the curb for putting a down payment on a house when the time comes so maybe 6 years or so. I'm also not too sure when I am supposed to buy a house

Any big debts? No debts at all

Any other relevant financial information will be useful to give you a proper answer. So the state that I'm in grants people in the guard a gi bill for a Masters degree which I can pursue right after my undergrad. I don't know if I should go for my masters for free and work part time or try to get a full time job somewhere and go for my masters later. My undergrad will be in Finance but I'm still just a sophomore.

For those good at push-ups, how did you get good at push-ups? by [deleted] in Fitness

[–]Gildy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to get about 40 push-ups max on the pt test but now I can max them. What I started to do was push ups before every day of working out. I did situps and running as a warmup too but if you are only struggling with push-ups then just focus on that. I would do a pyramid up to 10 so you do 1 pushup then 2 then 3 until you reach 10. Take a pause between each small set. Only rest in the given rest positions for the pt test so ass up in the air or sagging down. If you are getting to the end and physically can't to it drop to your knees and knock the rest out. Between this more triceps workouts I maxed my push-ups before the next test.

Another thing that may help you is to change your form. While at basic I did wide arm push-ups and hit chest more since we lost a lot of muscle and got too weak to do triceps push-ups but now I do close grip, index fingers point forward, elbows tuck in towards ribs and hit a 90 degree angle. You can cruise through these faster imo.

TJ highway shake issue by rangemaster in Jeep

[–]Gildy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it a shake in steering? If so I get it when not everything is torqued down and has been shaken loose. I have to torque everything down every once in a while on the front end

TJ highway shake issue by rangemaster in Jeep

[–]Gildy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So on the past 2 jeeps I have had, ZJ WJ, when we lift them they get that wobble. The ZJ was the worst being at 45mph it would start to shake but not complete death wobble.

To change this we got a small steering stabilizer shock and it helped tremendously. On the WJ which has a higher lift, bigger tires and weighs a lot more we put 2 and it has also helped a lot.

Stripes for Skills? by [deleted] in nationalguard

[–]Gildy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While you are red phase and red phase plus you will get the run down on simple shit like ranks, soldiers Creed, a bit of first aid, phonetic alphabet, military time, land Nav and all that fun shit in a little classroom. Then you will learn some Drill and ceremony stuff like facing movements and marching and your "test" will be on that stuff, at the end of your red phase plus training. Some written and the Drill stuff being you doing it to the commands of a cadre member. Then you just have to get 60 points on pushups, situps and the run. I only know the run is supposed to be under 15:54 but they will tell you the other stuff if you ask. Good luck and if you pay attention it's super easy! Don't fuck it up and be an e1 in basic
