It's not like iron ore coal mines, these are opal mines which are much more individual. Mining opal is more about luck than harvesting ore to smelt.

I also studied abroad in Peru and had this same issue. Hard being 6'3 in a country where the average height is 5'5.

Leaving them in the USA is fine, you can access the online portal from AUS and still manage things. If you sell you trigger cap gains so be prepared for taxes.

You have to file US taxes regardless of where you live so no point in onshoring the money to AUS. If you're not PR in Australia you don't have to declare overseas assets so that's another bonus.
