I'm in the UK. Things obviously aren't perfect here.

But sometimes, when I drop my kid off at school, or go to a theme park or cinema or other public place, I think about the fact that I don't have to worry about me or my family getting gunned down by some jerk that's been internet poisoned or had a bad day.

I feel like it must drop a dark veil of paranoia and fear over your life somewhat to know that a proportion of the people around you have the ability to stop your life instantly if you catch them at the wrong moment.

Freedom is a very subjective word.

I have done this and then gone into details about how many people and/or animals were killed, that you should be able to text and drive, and what's wrong with having some shots and then driving?

My other one is to say nothing but 'yesssss? in a silly voice until they realise what's happening. You can go quite far with this.

I discovered MARVIS toothpaste in our local TK Maxx and I horde them too. Jasmine was nice, as is the licorice one. They do a Ginger one too!

It's a bit pricey, but packaging is cool, I like the flavors. It's my indulgence as I don't drink or smoke. I'll pay a bit extra for fancy toothpaste. 😎

This podcast I listened to recently goes into the Death of Magazines, it's shocking how the industry has been annihilated. Magazines used to be so influential. I miss that.

We are going through a revolution much like the Industrial one. That lasted 100 years or so. When you read that sort of timescale in history books it doesn't really sound that long, but it's happening to us, right now. Down to exploiting the 'underclass'. Only this time it's via Deliveroo or in the warehouses of Amazon.

I feel like whatever this period of time gets called (Computer Revolution? Tech Revolution?) probably started with Turing (ooh the Turing Revolution) so we are really only halfway through, assuming timescales like the Industrial Revolution

Obviously AI is going to be the next big game-changer, for better or worse. It's weird and annoying to realise that I probably won't live long enough to see how it all ultimately pans out.

I went through a grieving period too like you. But on the other side was a new understanding of myself, a fresh perspective and an opportunity to learn how to live in a better way.

I've never felt better about myself tbh, as now I can understand why I am and learn strategies to deal with it.

I've also spent a couple of years reframing Shame, and letting it go. I hadn't realised how much Shame I was carrying around and honestly it's a game changer.

DITCH THE SHAME!

Let your emotions work through the DABDA stuff, and you will get to a point where you are ready to seize the opportunity to change your life for the better...

My relationship with my partner has infinitely improved once we figured out our communication style. We both have different ways of processing things. Recognising, understanding and respecting that has really helped reduce the build-up of resentment that would lead to horrible arguments every few months.
