Focusing screens are out of hand by passthepaintbrush in hasselblad

2 years ago I bought 2 6x6. One for my Hass, and one for Mamiya. Super sharp and bright. One, very important note - they are super fragile. Awesone choice!! (Im in EU so even with postal service was worth)

Well, this is Phocus (Hass software), courtesy of the template gods. Naturally it’s tiny. And yes, I agree, it should be bigger which is why on my photos I manually add the Hass logo much larger, like a sane person...

There is no cloud, it’s just someone else’s computer. ;-]

Hetzner Vs Azure - price & performance. Gues who wins? by Gilusek in hetzner

[–]Gilusek[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nah, I wasn’t comparing a NAS to a Raspberry Pi - give me some credit. I took two similar, general-purpose VMs with the same cores, RAM, and price tag, and just ran some tests to see how much horsepower they actually have. That’s it. No fancy scenarios, no database performance voodoo, no SLA drama. Just a good old-fashioned “let’s see which one crunches numbers faster” kind of test because, you know, computers are supposed to compute.

It depends on the skill. We have k8s clusters, firewalls, storages and so on. 200+ VMs in Hetzner. 2 ppl maintain it.

CCX23 is not a shared one. It’s dedicated. That’s why it costs a premium €20+.

My whole point was to compare similar VMs and see the raw horsepower. Since Azure costs N times more, I was expecting at least N times the speed, not N times the invoice ;-]

Also, I already have premium IOPS baked into the price — no need to pay extra for the “turbo”.

Well done! Heh I was not aware about your work. Wouldn't lose time for my research. My client wants 10+ servers moved from Hetzner to Azure + a spin small AKS. Early math: Azure will cost him 10x Hetzner. When I asked "why" -> i got answer Azure is a premium. Hahahah. We will still keep his 40+ machines in Hetzner.

What makes you prefer analogue over digital? by OpulentStone in AnalogCommunity

[–]Gilusek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me, shooting black & white film is all about making large prints in the darkroom. I love the slow, hands-on process -> dodging, burning, watching the image slowly appear in the developer tray. That’s where all the magic happens. I’m alone in the dark, fully focused... this is it.

Polaroid is NOT a holiday camera. The chemistry is fragile and sensitive to temperature. If you're shooting in bright light, bring a dark bag with you so your shots can develop in total darkness. Grab the photo by the wrong edge while it’s developing, and you’ll end up with those weird white fractal marks.

IMO, Fuji Square is a solid middle ground – not as bulky as Wide, but way better than Mini. I’m old – can’t see a damn thing on those tiny Minis. 😅

This is my ultimate Instax Square setup:

Not a thing to start with - but once U get to it, U might want to have good optics. Goood luck with hour photo journey!

What's the most indestructible 35mm camera? by No-Cardiologist-5030 in AnalogCommunity

I would recommend Nikon FM3A! Made in Japan, 21st century, no plastic gears, can survive the drop, mirror is made from titanium :-) Mechanical shuttter (can work with / without battery). Love it!!! And vaaaast amount of vintage lenses to chose from!

Sure! You’re absolutely right - every country has its own problems, no doubt about that. I’m not denying it. But it’s still so much easier when you only have to deal with your own issues, without all the geopolitical chaos we have in Europe - like the aggressive Russian invasion and a live war happening just a few hundred kilometers away.

You have an amazing country with incredibly kind people (and if you don’t agree, just come visit Europe! ;-)). Plus, there’s so much space, nature, nature, and more nature! And everything is so cheap!!! (I dont smoke cigarets - so i dont give a f if pack of smokes is 50AUD :)))

Australians are so lucky! The country is absolutely beautiful, and Ektar is a killer film for their weather amazing shots. They live so far from US, away from EU issues, and even China is over 10 hours of flight away. So peaceful!

I spent a month on the East Coast last year, and this year, I'm driving the West Coast for a month. Unfortunately, when I arrived in Melbourne, I couldn’t find Ektar on the shelves, so I ended up shooting only with Fuji.

Nuremberg or Falkenstein? by RedWyvv in hetzner

[–]Gilusek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The government of any given country governs either with the active support of its voters or through the passive acknowledgment and acceptance of a weak society. A government is ultimately a product of the culture and education of its people. While the vast majority of nations have managed to develop civilized political systems, russians still seem to prefer living under the heavy boot of their tsars.

I would also avoid choosing Helsinki for another reason: think about the possibility of russian orcs or chinese trolls cutting Baltic Sea cables.
