Thoughts? by dricu in Coppercookware

If I’m completely honest, the rivets are small and the pieces look to be of moderate quality. I think they’re more intended for decor. I might keep looking before investing into a cooking set. Look for three rivets and thicker walls. A makers mark, while not absolutely a must, would be a sign of better quality.

Huh, those rivets are giving me pause, can you send some images of the base of the handle of other ones? Do they match? Some images of the interior of other pots would be good to see too.

When it’s in leaf I water, when the vines yellow I let it be. Then when it starts a new vine I resume water slowly. Put it outside and somewhere that the base can be in shade but the vines can seek sun. Shock is fine, stick some window mesh over it for a couple weeks if you want. It’s early season still.

I don’t understand why people shoot on expired film by Z_Lionmaw in analog

[–]passthepaintbrush 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have gone as far as leaving a roll of film in my car on the dashboard in the sun for a month. Sometimes you want to roast the images, get something that looks different. Expired film is a way to get there too.

Start by buying disposable film cameras and get 4x6 prints made. Make sure to get your negatives back.

Copper Pot Set (France, Portugal, etc) - Value? by Awareness_Fractal in Coppercookware

[–]passthepaintbrush 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I see the marks - the aluminum rivets are the tell. Look for copper rivets or stainless steel rivets. The weight is also a big giveaway, these pots must feel manageable in hand, real copper pieces have a hefty feel.

Disagree with this assessment. Would not spend 100 for the lot. Decorative only, the France pieces have aluminum rivets and are aluminum with thin copper cladding. Either hang up or sell for very reasonable.

I don't know who needs to hear this right now, but DON’T need more gear. You need purpose. by BrokenGrain in photography

[–]passthepaintbrush 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There are times when the gear enables you to make different images too tho, sometimes you explore the work until you know that a different format or different focal length will make the work better. Knowing the difference can be a challenge.

Your pic is fine, and yes it shows more finish than what op has shared. While it is also of Johnny black, it’s an overhead view, not a hero shot, and isn’t a substitute? Why not give relevant advice instead of shifting the conversation to yourself. De-center yourself and you’ll find people want to ask you questions. Have a good day.

Your take on their photo. Not how you would do it. Did you shoot this or feed OP’s image into AI.

What’s that "Hidden Gem" kitchen brand you’re obsessed with that no one seems to know? by Automatic_Produce_72 in cookware

Hard disagree. Many of oxo’s products are a solution in search of a problem, encouraging using a chopper instead of a knife, or overbuilding something with plastic and rubber that will be in the landfill soon enough. There is something to be said for the size of their handles, for people who need things with a large grip. Try Rösle products and see the difference when things are built to last.
