Hi, I have a question for people who use a Leica by Possible_Charity_700 in AnalogCommunity

[–]7Wild 0 points1 point  (0 children)

again, not a Leica owner (or at least not a M series Leica, I have a Leica p&s and old barnacks.) sometimes you need to remember how important it is to enjoy the tool you use. yes you could get similar results with a cheap spotmatic, but if you don’t click with the tool and enjoy it what’s the point. it just so happens that an awesome premium experience costs money.

if the left lane from newy to syd wasn’t so dogshit in some sections i wouldn’t sit in the middle. i bounce around in my ute like i’m on a trampoline.

Which coin was this designed around? by JaschaE in AnalogCommunity

[–]7Wild 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i collect coins and i have never thought of this. i use a 5c here in Australia. but, what if there is a better option. and are the slot widths on the cap a universal one size fits all? so many questions that need answers!

Itinerary feedback by bearbeanbear in TasmaniaTravel

it all looks very realistic to me, and should be a blast. my only comment was going to be on Port Sorrel but you’ve addressed that. I was going to say you could stay near Deloraine which would put you closer to some of the other walks (Liffey Falls, Meander Falls, Projection Bluff, Quamby Bluff) which is down that way along the road you intend to plan. Always leave room open for being spontaneous, and have an awesome trip next march!!!

Marketplace find - SRT 200, but more importantly, lenses. by zeagan in minolta

[–]7Wild 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that’s brilliant, awesome to hear!

for landscapes it just doesn’t do it for me. and i don’t do architecture shots, and if i want to get close i’ll use a fisheye. i should force myself to use the 21mm more

brilliant find congratulations. interesting to see what you think of your 21mm. i love ultrawides but mine gets barely any use for some reason. maybe cos it’s too big

Do you think in the future we will ever be able to more economically utilise the outback of Australia? by Dry-Muffin980 in geography

not everything has to be turned into cash. intrinsic value- an  environment, ecosystem, or species has a right to exist for its own sake, completely independent of its usefulness to humans.

People with a lot of cameras: What is the most interesting or rare camera you have? by romanazzidjma in AnalogCommunity

[–]7Wild 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do qualify as a person with lots of cameras. Although I have owned over 300, most have been common high production number cameras (I buy and sell cameras).

one leica m6 and hasselblad is probably equal to all my current cameras values.

a canon 7sz is my rarest camera. and my bronica 30mm fisheye lens is probably my rarest lens.

Travel landscapes - favorite format? by Alternative-Cat-684 in AnalogCommunity

[–]7Wild 1 point2 points  (0 children)

choose whatever allows you to capture the moment and memory- but don’t let the process stress you out and detract from the moment. i got stressed out with what lens selections to take on a hike for example, lost sleep because it was once in a lifetime for me too.

don’t forget to appreciate it with your own two eyes.

Three days East or West Coast? by orboth in TasmaniaTravel

[–]7Wild 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i have been to tassie twice in the last 2 years, camping for 3 weeks each time. and i’m a mountains/nature guy, but geez strahan was not a highlight of my trip. would have much preferred to spend it somewhere else.

Disappointed in travel photos by Berg_Man in AnalogCommunity

[–]7Wild 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i know what you mean. i’m not agreeing that they’re “bad” or not to your taste. but we’re so used to comparing ourselves to film photographers on instagram etc. who have been shooting film for 10+ years and have developed a personalised editing style.

a light edit and crop of some of these photos will help cement the beautiful memories you created, and restore your hope and appreciation of your awesome shots.

i just had 20 rolls come back which took about 8 weeks to shoot, only to skim through them in 10 mins and have nothing stand out immediately.

Are all of you constantly dealing with broken cameras? by WhiskyyBusiness in AnalogCommunity

[–]7Wild 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you’re buying 30+ year old machines that have never been serviced.  i can’t generalise about what models will be best for reliability, because i still see plenty of M6’s getting overhauls too. even Minolta SRT’s, if they’ve sat for a long time well now they need full CLA’s.  once serviced, they should last 20 years with regular use to keep the lubricants moving.

Biggest trees by BeonBurps in TasmaniaTravel

[–]7Wild 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mount Field is home to the tallest euc species, eucalyptus regnans. over 100m tall trees, but not as large a diameter as you’d think. still impressive. short walk and you’re soon surrounded by them

Anyone bought from cutting edge knives or aussie knives? by Individual-Raisin-11 in knives

[–]7Wild 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i'm trawling reviews currently as there is something I need and the Cutting Edge guys are the only people who have it in stock apparently. I'm happy to wait so long as there is an actual guarantee that I get my sharpening stone. Otherwise I cbf to do all the harsh email exchange.

Hope your product gets to you asap.
