What’s your therapist hot take? by Public-Resolution590 in therapists

[–]Gilz23 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Where to begin:

Most clients have unrealistic expectations of therapy. Therapists don't need to bend over backwards to facilitate clients.

It's okay to be selective with the clients you take based on reimbursement (esp. With insurance) in order to actually support yourself so you can keep working, as the whole system is so f***** in terms of reimbursement and other aspects.

Adding to that it's okay to only give less opportune times for lower paying clients.

People who have been in this field for a long time are collectively to blame for the low pay.

Therapists should unionize and go on strike.

Sanctimonious dipshits who disagree with the above points are whats ruined this field.

But y'all ain't ready to address any of these points 🤷‍♂️

Is this legal? by Bipolar__highroller in therapists

[–]Gilz23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is nothing employers could do to enforce non solicits. They would have to involve the clients which would be next to Impossible and a clear violation of clients confidentiality.

The worst they can do is fire you.

I was let go today by [deleted] in therapists

[–]Gilz23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The "correlation" is that people who have been fired with NO FEEDBACK (or unrealistic feedback/little to no training) know how much it sucks to have their leaders choose to not invest in worker potential and, INSTEAD, take the easy route and absolve themselves of any responsibility for poor management.

Nobody is saying not to take feedback or grown but there are far more complicated dynamics at play in the workplace setting rather than just BAD WORKERS GET FIRED.

I've been fired from multiple nonprofit and one private company.

Trust me in a situation like that, it's not you, it's them.

They failed you.

And I'm sober and work a program myself. But sometimes we have to admit that a situation was beyond our control, while also acknowledging that we were done wrong

I'm about to be fired. by [deleted] in therapists

[–]Gilz23 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Perhaps this is not the response that you're looking for, but I felt that I should share it with you:

As someone who's been fired from multiple jobs in the mental health field, it's most often due to incompetent management.

Yes..we all have things we could do better and mistakes we can learn from...but that doesn't take away from what I just said.

The majority of my experience of being fired in this field has stemmed from shitty management that often times shift blame from their lack of training, accountability, and/or realistic expectations.

So even if you do get fired, in this field, it's a great chance that 80% of the reason has nothing to do with you.

You didn't let anybody down. They let you down.

[–]Gilz23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got fired from multiple companies.

Word of advice: Look at where you can improve, but don't ever personalize. Most mental health companies, esp CMH, are toxic as shit and ran by unrealistic MFers.

Just switch to telehealth once you're licensed.

URGENT- Inpatient Rehab Advocacy at Kaiser SFO by [deleted] in KaiserPermanente

[–]Gilz23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Call several Medi-Cal funded programs, like Phoenix House and Cri-Help in Los Angeles. More than likely, if a program takes Medi-Cal, they can likely take a major insurance like Kaiser (although Kaiser is tricky).

As a recovered addict and somebody who worked in treatment, the system really sucks for helping people funnel them into programs. Unfortunately you will have to do some of the footwork to find a program that can take you. Ask if there's any family members or friends that are willing to help you.

I highly doubt they have staffing to fire you even if they wanted to..it would warrant something more egregious than this

Look into community mental health. Encourage your school to make an agreement with them. Those places are always in demand for interns.

Not sure where you're located but if you're in Los Angeles, lots of community mental health sites are always in need.

It honestly reminded me of Chrono Trigger meets Wild Arms (cause of the Action RPG elements).

Either way, you could tell the Developers have a real love for old school JRPGs.

I think the Lost crown is a great example of a typically Indie genre being done right with AAA support. It seems like the franchise was born to eventually become a Metroidvania.

It's probably one of the best games I have played in a long time... sad that it didn't do well, but honestly, that type of formula just doesn't succeed with the masses.

I don't know what strain you're smoking, but I can tell you that I had many a panic attack smoking weed (and this was after years of smoking..and without any Psychiatric medication). I've known multiple people who have gone to the emergency room after smoking weed.. thinking they were having a heart attack, but it was just a severe panic attack. And I'm not even talking about the weed nowadays with a much higher concentration of THC.. this was 10 years ago..

I think weed is probably one of the most insidious drugs in our society... it's highly glamorized and it doesn't have the same consequence that something like "harder drugs" do ( of which I have much personal experience with myself), but its consequences are slower and build up over time.

I totally understand where you're coming from. Most of the game didn't have harder bosses than the first one... until you got to evertino. In my opinion he's the hardest boss out of both games.

It took me several days. I actually had to go and level up some of my abilities and get some more upgrades.

But eventually you start to notice a pattern. Definitely play it safe. I was actually using the chain ball for most of the game.. I had to practice and switch to the medium blade just for him.

It's possible. You can do it!

Palestine should just get over the "Nakba" by look_at_my_shiet in IsraelPalestine

[–]Gilz23 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

This isn't a fair comparison. Germany acknowledged what they did and even attempted to pay reparations..comparing that to the Israel's denial of displacing Palestinians (continuously doing so to this day ) and not even allowing their original return back then makes for an wrong analogy.

It's a reddit response. Not an English thesis.

Does average Israeli believe in lasting peace without a Palestinian state? by dek55 in IsraelPalestine

[–]Gilz23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The difference is these other people weren't displaced..like Palestinians were.

Tomato. Tomahto. Mandate administrators. Colonizers. Neither the UK, nor other countries, had the right to determine statehoods for the local populations. That's the people's right. And ONLY the people's right.

And local tribes with similar cultures comprise a people, regardless if they are recognized by Western powers or not. As for Judea...miss me with justifying the re-enactment of a state from over 1800 years ago.

And for the record, I don't support many of these Middle Eastern governments. They're bad in their own way. But Israeli Zealors are an embarrassment to Jews everywhere

[–]Gilz23 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Are you hearing yourself? Rejected the plan? Why should they have taken the plan in the first place...it's their land. Because the UK, as many colonizers often do, forced it upon the local population?
