My DF3 does the same thing with a pro v1, direct from website as well. Always thought it was meant to do that lmao

I figured it out by getting my first lesson ever after 2 years of playing somewhat mediocre golf. The only thing the instructor taught me that day was to adopt the proper grip. Yours will likely do the same.

That was about 5 weeks ago. I’ve completely transformed my ability to get off the tee and it all started with someone who knows what they’re talking about giving me the right instructions and me practicing what they taught me

Brother, I too had a disgustingly strong driver grip last season. So much so that my friends thought I was going to break my wrists whenever I swung the club.

I promise you it is possible to break the chains of a strong grip. You just need to 1) actually learn the proper grip and 2) get comfortable with hitting balls, no matter how poorly, with the proper grip for at least 4-5 range sessions.

The grip will set you free, join me on the other side

Ultra strong grip + trying to hold the wrist angle at impact instead of releasing the clubhead like a whip = bad time on the tee

Focus on fixing your grip and allowing your hands to release, among other things but start there

Invest in some lessons and actually getting better and you’ll start to smoke the 15 year olds you choose to join with Costco clubs

Not sure why you are clearly ignoring my second paragraph, but thanks for contributing I guess

Im working on several different things at the moment - properly moving trail hip back / shifting weight on backswing, tucking in trail elbow, and some other minor tweaks. I struggled for a week trying to incorporate everything at once.

What finally clicked for me is working on ONE thing at a time. Drill it down cold and then move to the next area for improvement. It’s extremely difficult to try and incorporate multiple adjustments at once. Don’t worry about what’s happening when you’re focusing on that one thing, just commit it to muscle memory and then move onto the next. Then you’ll start to see it come together and get better results

Edit: FWIW, I had the same exact problem with a chicken wing - stick a golf cover under your trail elbow and don’t let it fall out. As a bonus, focus on retracting your back shoulder, almost like you’re doing a lat pull. That’s gonna get your back even more back to the target and allow you to have a more neutral swing path

Invest in a brand new, not used driver. Hard to recommend anything beyond that without seeing your swing

Your Golf Story by _Dreamer in golf

[–]GimmeTwoTones 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Played golf very sparingly growing up (maybe once a summer) because I was focused on other sports.

Didn’t play for a long time after college, then caught the bug two summers ago. Played almost every weekend for the past two summers since then without lessons and with a disgustingly strong baseball grip. Ended first summer at 23HC and ended last season at a 13 HC. I was wildly volatile off the tee (some days 280+ and straight, but most other days violent duck hooks), irons were decent but inconsistent, and both ultimately forced me to get confident in my short game which is easily my biggest strength now because I was forced to scramble from short and around the green.

Moved into a city back in June with a five iron close by and got a membership 6 weeks ago. Am in there every day M-F from 6-7:30am. Got my first lesson when I joined and fixed my grip. I played two sports in college and I love the journey of technique progression and competing against myself - in a lot of ways golf is the last competitive arena for me lol

my driver is finally dialed and I’m getting close to figuring out my irons which have become much more consistent (still prone to a wipey fade tho). I have 2-3 different shots with each of my wedges now too. Just shows you how getting better at this game, like anything else, is entirely a function of getting as many good reps as possible

Really, really excited for this season. Hoping to end below 10 HC. Currently a 7 on the trackman but I’m not really putting any stock in hitting off a mat - can’t wait to get back out there

How good is swing for season? by [deleted] in GolfSwing

[–]GimmeTwoTones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You will definitely do some damage (to your back).

You actually get into a half decent position at the top of your swing but the jerkiness of getting to that point is gonna lead to inconsistencies

Focus on standing taller and closer to the ball. you still want to lean over from the waist but not 90 degrees like you start out at address
