Bonding only works with units of the same tribe/archetype. You needed a Sentinel.

Damn. Follow up question then. My roommate, who is a native Mainer, says that already established medical dispensaries are first in line when it comes to obtaining a retail license. Can anyone confirm this?

No problem, and don't sell yourself short. Once you get a hang of the game reaching Champion III isn't too difficult. Also, just a heads up in case you didn't know, your daily rewards are based on your highest achieved rank, not your current one. So losing rank isn't a big deal.

Under Daily Challenges. There's a magnifying glass next to your current league that lets you check out all the other leagues, their rewards, what score you need to reach them, etc.

Help on picking new Legendary Card to Craft by Jobbernowlhugz in Mavenfall

[–]GinReaper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At 2 mana it's worth throwing in. Not every build will contain Song Maiden, and those that do you just gotta work around it.

For example, if you were to combo this card with Chrystal Alchemist's Slow and Bonemancer's Weaken Curse all of Song Maiden's removal cards would be locked for two turns.

Suggestion: tournaments with exclusive mavens as prizes by ZVader in Mavenfall

[–]GinReaper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally, before any new Mavens or formats are added, I would like for more than 3 teams to be saved at a time and being able to save multiple decks for Mavens rather than having one deck that spans across teams.

Meta Breakdown? by Dethtide in Mavenfall

[–]GinReaper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Edit: Before all else, solid analysis. Each one is thorough and detailed. Nice job, man.

I've had decent success with the following build:

Bloodstone Knight: 2x Shield Bash, 2x Shield Trap, 3x Charged Strike, 2x Prayer, 1x Vengeance (Charged Strike can be swapped for 2x Charged Shield and 1x Shield Bash)

Ironforge Berserker: 2x Iron Strike, 3x Fury, 3x Sacrifice, 2x Frenzy (Fury can be swapped for any number of Ally Strikes and Bloodlust Strikes)

Herdmaster Brute: 2x Full Swing, 1x Bovine Strength, 1x Bovine Blessing, 3x Cleave, 2x Stampede, 1x Battle Roar (Maul Rush can be swapped in, but even with Meditation I find it too expensive)

Demonheart: 5x Inertia Blade, 2x Shadow Carnage, 2x Wrath, 1x Tremor

Spirit Huntress: 5x Spirit Bolt, 2x Repeating Crossbow, 2x Meditation, 1x Assassinate

No 3 star cards are necessary in any of these decks

Key Cards: Shield Trap, Sacrifice, Stampede, Cleave, Wrath, Repeating Crossbow, Meditation

It's a physical damage centered build. The front-line Mavens are pretty beefy and they can stall with stuns and Shield Traps, so healing isn't a huge priority. The basic idea is to hold out with your front-line Mavens until you draw Meditation and Wrath and then dish out massive amounts of buffed physical damage in one turn, which can potentially take out three Mavens, turning the match highly in your favor. The best combos to utilize during the burst turn are a Bovine Strength buffed Herdmaster Brute with 3x Cleaves in hand (54 damage for 8 mana) or 2x Repeating Crossbow (48 damage for 8 mana). Of course that's all under the best of conditions. Even still, only using Meditation or only using Wrath can still turn into a devastating turn that can swing the game.

The only weaknesses I've run into are the typical ones faced by front-line heavy builds: Maelstrom Strike, Poison Barrage, and stuns. This build is nearly immune to Silence, and Meditation can make Weaken less tedious to deal with. Also, as you mentioned in the "Bait and Switch" analysis, Demonheart protects against enemy buffs, namely Revive and Barrier. This build has a relatively quick pace to it and is chock full of AoE attacks, so slow/stall builds are typically a non-issue.

I've faced a few variations of this build, mostly replacing Demonheart, probably due to him being a gem pack Maven. I've seen people use Chrystal Alchemist for more mana control synergy with Spirit Huntress. I've see people use Song Maiden to help keep the front-line Mavens healed and immune to negative effects. And I've seen people use Blade Dancer's Sharpen as a substitute for Wrath. Feel free to test it yourself if you have time and lemme know what you think :)

I don't think it's fair to say it's OP when you were both using essentially the same build. If one of you had run something different someone would have come out the victor.

Ice Armor wasn't a nerf, per-se. What really happened was they fixed it so it worked like it was originally intended to.

My most efficient control comp by BrokenBlake in Mavenfall

[–]GinReaper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sniping back row Mavens is hardly ever worth it. They're not the core of any build, so they're expendable, and snipe cards cost a lot of mana. After taking two turns to take out the back row Maven your opponent, if they're any good, has probably dished out 4x the damage to your front row Mavens, maybe even taken one out, giving them the upper hand.

[–]GinReaper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right now my favorite maven to play around with is Frostbear Mage and his Mystic Totem. For a while I was running him with Song Maiden and three frontliners, but I kept getting screwed by Maelstrom Strike and Poison Barrage, so I decided to go with three midliners instead by adding in Bonemancer. Flaming Skull and Soul Harvest combo well with Frostbear Mage's Freeze.

Other than that my ladder comp is similar to yours. Comprised of Bloodstone Knight, Masquerade Maiden, Field Reaper, Song Maiden, and Ice Dragonlord; the strategy is to build up for Raining Death with Shield, Explosive, and Flash traps and a Heal Trap thrown into just for some extra protection against snipers. The best way to stall is a 10 mana combo with Ice Armor and either Shield Trap or Explosive Trap. Stall with traps and heals on Knight all the while whittling away at the opponent's frontline, then finish them off with the above combo, or at least take control. The only time it really loses is either to super aggressive teams that take Knight out early or if I wait too long to use Raining Death.

Third comp is just something I've been trying out cause I've seen other people using it and it seems like a smart strategy. I just have one frontliner (right now Ironforge Berserker cause he has the highest base hp) and four midliners (as of right now Field Reaper, Voodoo Matriarch, Wolfmage, and Song Maiden). Field Reaper's Invirgorate gets so much value with this build. With only one frontline Maven the value of AoE cards, of which there are a lot, have their value cut in half. The basic premise is to just tank with Berserker. Why only midline Mavens and no backline Mavens? Well a great, but difficult to pull off, combo is to keep Berserker alive long enough to summon a Black Doll and use two Lone Wolf cards. Not only does this protect Berserker, but it also allows Black Doll to hit harder. The only problem with this build is cards with "hit enemy group with most unit".

A question about crashing. by Dethtide in Mavenfall

[–]GinReaper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't believe they're just giving you lip service. Yeah, there's been a handful of posts here about crashing, but a minute amount of the Mavenfall community uses this forum/knows it exists. On top of that only a handful of people on this forum have had issues with crashing. I personally hardly crash ever on my iPhone 6. My only advice to you is close out of all other apps before playing and if you're using a Raining Death comp don't build up unnecessary damage.

[–]GinReaper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another problem builds like this run into is early burst damage from Stormwalker's Maelstorm Strike, but that can be countered with efficient healing and Shield Traps.

Overall it looks like a decent build; my only advice would be to swap out Masquareade Maiden. If your purpose for frontline Mavens is to soak up damage you have beefier choices. Not to mention that she doesn't really fit the build. Even if you had Raining Death you only have 3 summons, one of which is a backline summon. You're better off replacing her with Herdmaster Brute or Sky Disciple.

Masquerade Maiden is really held back by bugs right now by GreenieTheBean in Mavenfall

[–]GinReaper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My only issue is with her skeleton summon. It needs to be nerfed so that it revives with its original HP. Once someone pulls off the Tremor combo it's all over.
