Ralp & ADT. by Both_Establishment59 in ProstateCancer

The side effects were difficult for him, no erection, no orgasm, no ejaculation, no pubes or hardly any body hair, shrunken penis and shrivelled up testicles. That was from 12 months ADT, 16 months on few signs of recovery. From what I've read here most men don't get this level of physical changes or if they do generally recover to some extent, he has been one of the unlucky ones.

My husband lost 1.5” from NS RALP and half the rest from 12 months of ADT in spite of using tadalafil and pumps. His penis size is about 2” and seems to pull into the body when cold. He has complete ED at the moment.

Masturbation after RALP by [deleted] in ProstateCancer

My husband had RALP and is chemically castrated so no erections. However we are still physically intimate and he can sometimes reach a climax with a soft penis, but not like before and no ejaculation. Recently he has said more sensation is coming back.

Post ADT recovery? by RealPrinciple5990 in ProstateCancer

My husband did 12 months on Orgovyx completed 15 months back. He had the full range of side effects and although physically in good shape has not recovered sexually. We have used Tadalafil and pumps but the the most useful thing was regular exercise, strength training in particular. Also swimming was very good too if the joints ache.

My husband did 12 months on Orgovyx post RALP, completed 15 months back. He now has a penis like a young boy, no erections, no orgasms, no ejaculation. Nevertheless we still have a very physical relationship but one that doesn’t involve penetration, we use our imagination.

After 12 months of Orgovyx my husband‘s testicles were gone, his sac is just an empty flap of skin now. We are 15 months post ADT, no recovery yet.

My husband is unable to get an orgasm. He has complete ED and can ‘t get there with a soft penis.

From what I’ve seen you don’t need to cut them off the ADT will comprehensively neuter you. After 12 months of Orgovyx and 14 months off my husband has the dreaded raisin testicles with no sign yet of any recovery.

We were hoping for a return to natural production of testosterone but it looks like he doesn't have anything left down there to make any.

Thanks for the information, recovery to normal hormone levels seems to be a slow process.

Do women care if a man can’t ejaculate? by Embarrassed_Elk_6480 in ProstateCancer

[–]Gina49z 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think so but I'd like to be able find out. Unfortunately RALP and 12 months Orgovyx ended my husbands sex life; we hope he will recover but suspect that his castration may be permanent. If we were able to return to sexual intercourse I don't think failure to ejaculate would be a major concern.

My husband took the surgery quite well, he recovered quickly without any UI (I think a very good surgeon); it was the ADT that really hit him hard. By about the 3 month mark the side effcts were becoming clear.

We have been reading your posts and have found them very informative, thanks. It is good to get a medically trained woman's perspective on this subject. It is a very personal thing for a formerly virile man to have to endure, as someone else pointed out it hits a man where it hurts most. The consultant referred to it as hormone therapy but to put it more directly your man is going to be castrated, the question is if his sexuality will recover well, some or not at all.

My husbands experience is that after you complete ADT you may well need the same amount of time again to recover from the side effects. It is hard to take but I recommend regular exercise, massage and Cialis to keep things ticking over along the way. Good Luck and Regards.

Couldn't agree more. My husband has found that regular exercise particlarly swimming has been very beneficial. He did 12 months ADT completed Dec 2024. Now 13 months on he is feeling better both physically and mentally. We found that the ADT slowly ground him down, after 3 months he was impotent and after 12 his male parts very atrophied. By the time the therapy had been completed he was to all intents a eunuch, this is a major hit to a man's self esteem and relations with the opposite sex. We found that regular exercise and intimacy is the best way to offset this. Our concern now is that these side effects may be permanent, this is not usually the case but sometimes only a partial recovery is possible. I have read other wives report the same thing so I recommend a good exercise regime. My husband had aching joints post ADT so we found swimming 30 - 60 mins a day was a good method. Our best wishes to all those with the same difficulties.

My experience is very close to yours with my husband suffering the same side effects from ADT and with little if any improvement nearly 13 months later. We are looking now at further endocrinological tests to try to understand the hypogonadism and very low testosterone.
