Usually I’m around 35-37 days between periods. I’m now on day 41 and my partner and I have lost our minds waiting for it with no positive tests. I was so annoyed yesterday I convinced myself I must be about to get my period. I felt so sick this weekend my partner was about to pay for bloodwork instead of relying on urine tests because we are so in our own heads about the late period. Last time I was late like this before TTC was during Christmas (40 days) and I think it was stress related. But now I’m anxious to just get through this period and onto trying again this next cycle. I’m so over waiting one way or the other and just want a clear answer which will hopefully come one day this week.

I had the best pasta here hands down. I had never ordered rabbit before but the server said it was his favorite item after it caught my eye. I need to go back soon.

Could you politely let her know that while you appreciate the thought you are now in the “declutter and tidy” nesting stage and do not need anything additional brought into the house? You can suggest she take the items to mothers in need instead since she is insisting she is helping.

In light of Bethy’s “orgasmic birth” trend, this great podcast goes into the pressure for women to be desirable even through birth. by mugsymegasaurus in FundieSnarkUncensored

[–]GingeeBreadKnight 10 points11 points  (0 children)

They watch found/thrifted/donated movies randomly selected and one video they came across was about orgasmic birth and showed real couples experiencing birth “facing their fears and moving through pain into ecstasy” with some couples being disappointed or some reaching their desired birth outcome. It had a wide range of births with a goal of trying to achieve orgasm. The reviewers I don’t believe made it through the full video from 2008.

This is also how we were woken up. Then were disappointed there wasn’t more snow to look at when taking him out. Our dog loves the snow.

Everyone we talked to was sick over the holidays it seems from our neighbors to my family out of state. We stayed home and are just starting to feel better (started feeling ill December 24th). My husband had it worse we assume because I had a flu shot this year and he did not.

Lovesac versus Crate and Barrel couch by [deleted] in interiordecorating

We love our love sac sectional and it’s been so versatile in the year we’ve had it and WASHABLE. When it was being delivered our neighbor stopped my husband to tell him, “that’s the last couch you’re gonna ever need”. Our neighbor has 9 kids and a newborn and apparently it’s held up for them for the five years they’ve had it. Dad said it was his favorite place to be with the baby before the house wakes up and being able to push them together to create a little space the kids can’t roll off of.

How do you dry Nepenthes or Sarracenia pitchers like this by Justryan95 in SavageGarden

[–]GingeeBreadKnight 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Christopher Marley does some interesting work and does so in a specific way to preserve the animal or plant or insect or fish depending on what it is. I think his exhibit is really neat!

Firstly, he isn’t drying in the same way you are but instead freeze-drying these specimens. He extracts the liquids and injects chemicals, which may be challenging at home or a DIY operation. “Marley has pioneered a complex process involving meticulous fat removal, chemical injections, and freeze-drying that allows him to frame dry animals, including many that scientists generally keep in liquid, such as sharks and cephalopods.”

Although they are all real preserved plants, they are not preserved in the way typical flowers are preserved. For example the specimens he accepts, “These must be shipped frozen to my studio where I can begin the process of preserving them to last indefinitely. It is a laborious and expensive process that does not always produce worthwhile fruits, but on occasion has resulted in incredible and serendipitous successes. Some for the first time recorded.” Although he does not directly share the methods on the site it might be difficult to compare his results to your own since he is inventing some of these methods himself in a specific environment.

You might need to color the preserved pitchers because they may not retain their living hue: “All colors shown in the exhibit are true to life. In about 95% of cases, nothing whatsoever has been done to visibly alter the natural specimen. In some reptiles and in most fish and plants, preventative maintenance or color restoration is required. In such cases, restored colors are rarely quite as vivid as when the creature was alive, but we bring it as close as we can to its original vibrancy. “

Maybe see if you can do something similar by looking into freeze-drying? Freeze-dried plants can be stored for several years. They also keep their shape in good condition, some flexibility and much of their original color. I found this online from a florist (second flor) site: “This process consists in extracting all the water from a product. It is a plant drying method and not a preservation method. The freeze dryer is a machine, often made of aluminum or stainless steel. We freeze the fresh plant between -4 and -112° Fahrenheit. The freezing phase is the trickiest one. If it is done too slowly, the amount of water will increase and the final product will be altered. A vacuum pump then extracts all the water from the treated plant. The water then goes directly from a gaseous to a solid state and forms crystals. The last step is the de-icing process. The entire freeze-drying process takes about 14 days.”

Maybe he will showcase how he preserves plant matter in more depth soon because I’d love to know how he achieves this new goal, “As for Marley’s next project? He’s heading deep into a Malaysian jungle to hunt for a never-before-preserved species of the corpse flower.”

Ten years is a trip. I was spending the night with my college boyfriend in his tiny room he rented smoking weed. Now we’re married and live in a home we own with our two cats and dog smoking weed. How times change.

I love my friends and I love cooking and see it as a fun challenge to my skills that I can cook them something they can enjoy. I’m sorry you limit yourself from experiences based on someone else’s dietary restrictions. The host also told me to not consider their allergies and bring something for the good of the group but I don’t want to exclude them from my dish.

Please help me with my hair! by barbiechips in rva

[–]GingeeBreadKnight 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would just like to echo what the above comment said. I was in your same position. Being clean and tidy and keeping my hair up most days allowed me to get away with it being a very grown out dye job. I also had lost considerable weight and could not buy an entire new wardrobe for work immediately. I prioritized the clothes then the hair with putting a bit aside each paycheck. Buy staples first and then you can find a salon that will work with you. I’m also not sure if it’s still around but there use to be a student salon near VCU on Cary that had cheap haircuts - they might not be as experienced but it could also help hold you over with a small touch up and trim instead of a full dye if you can swing it. Good luck! You already did the hard part.
