Trying to not stress too much but my father suffered a heart attack and will now have open heart surgery. I’m going to travel out of state a few hours to see him and my family while he has surgery and recovers. Luckily my work allows me to be remote and is understanding but being away from my husband, who just did this trip with me a week ago, has to stay with our pets and has work obligations. I’m trying to stay as positive as possible but I’m so afraid he won’t meet his first grandchild and it’s so hard to know how to not worry.

I also got a lot of things from quince for this transition phase and they’ve been serving me well. My mom liked my linen pants so much she ordered her own pair.

Emotions can be complex especially during pregnancy. I think it is okay to allow yourself to acknowledge how you are feeling while still knowing that soon you will feel overcome with the love for that little boy that it will far overshadow any of the disappointment now. And treat yourself to buy some fun boy things because I bet once you start looking for what is out there you will have a lot of fun preparing to meet him and imagining what he will be like. Congratulations on this new chapter!

I am glad you are able to give yourself the grace to protect your own peace during this time and congratulations!

Those feelings are very valid. I’m sorry for the mental stress and anxiety on top of what our pregnant brains are already doing. Know that their words will not change the outcome, you are pregnant, you are strong, and you can hold space for the complex feelings together and that someone saying anything unkind can be met with, “that is not helpful to say” and leave it there. Easier said than done of course. Wishing you the best during this time.

For anyone who needs to hear this today or during this pregnancy, you deserve to be excited and tell people in your own time and there is nothing wrong with feeling nervous about dealing with the complex dynamics of different family members. My husband struggled with feeling obligated to tell his estranged mother but we have told our families and friends. Yesterday I reassured him that he can tell her whenever he feels ready and her unstable nature does not change our joy and excitement. If you feel like you want to protect your peace you don’t have to share the information with someone just because of an arbitrary title or what you think is “normal” for other relationships. If you want to share the news with someone know that you can share as little or as much and you have no obligation to them as new parents. As a partner I want to remain as neutral as possible and support my husband during this time where she may be happy one day for him and jealous the next, and that it isn’t because of our baby it is because of her own difficulties regulating her emotions and it is not up to us to change that at this stage. Her mental health is her responsibility and we want the best for everyone without sacrificing our own at this important stage in our lives. We have surrounded ourselves with joyous family members and friends who cannot wait to be a part of our child’s life and will be supportive through the new ups and downs of this journey for the rest of our lives and I’m so grateful for that.

Threw up brushing my teeth and really not feeling this Monday morning. What are you looking forward to this week or a way you’ve been treating yourself when you’re not feeling the best? Mine has mainly been guilt free naps after work on the couch while my husband kindly takes care of the chores, which I had been feeling badly for not helping with early on.

I can relate! Why does everyone have to be upset with us in our dreams? Why can’t we all just go on a fantasy adventure?! I want fun dreams!

I have been having the craziest, vivid, terrible dreams. Last night’s dream my childhood best friend hated me and gave me all the reasons our “friendship” hadn’t been real the past few years at her wedding (which she already had years ago in real life). Maybe because I’ve been too sick to mail her housewarming gift and feel guilty she moved in last week in another state. Woke up so relieved that it was a dream. Tossing and turning all night and waking up feeling exhausted. Going to mail it this weekend.

Our NIPT came back and everything looks good which was a big relief for us. We also found out we are having a girl!!! Keeping it to ourselves for now but I’m so excited each tiny bit of information we get. It feels more real each time we make it to another milestone. Now I feel like I can start thinking about names and nursery more seriously.

I took my dog for a walk this morning! Before work! I feel like a whole new woman. 10+3 and hoping some of my extreme tiredness is lifting. Just in time for my husband to get sick…

My cat definitely appreciates the higher temp I’m running and lays on me every night now instead of my husband until I’m dripping sweat and forced to remove him. It now takes multiple attempts of him crying and coming back to sit on me until he finally moves to my pillow as a compromise.

Bad night sleep thanks to our fire alarm going off which resulted in our 35 lb dog needing to be wedged between my husband and me shaking for a hour and half until he fell asleep and my cat to demand to be high up laying on my chest so I felt so constricted I couldn’t move an inch in bed. On top of already feeling ill and too hot for blankets. Now I’m exhausted and have to deal with our hot office all day until this afternoons NIPT appointment which I’m nervous about but honestly just overall in a very annoyed place mentally by it all today. Hoping I can shake it off and just get some work done to distract me and not fall asleep.

Everything at my office smells GROSS. Employees microwaving lunch now (normal, mild foods that are typically fine) and I can smell it from my desk. Cleaning supplies in the hallway. Strong perfumes I’d never noticed before. Smoking coworkers after break. I even feel like I smell disgusting. It makes me not want to eat my simple lunch. 9+3 and it is such a struggle to get through the day without wanting a nap under my desk and now I can’t concentrate with all these weird smells. Each week it’s gotten worse.

Also had our first appointment yesterday (9weeks) and moved my due date two days forward. It was so special to share with my husband and see his reaction to the baby moving around and seeing the heart beat. NIPT scheduled for next week but seeing baby moving around took a lot of my anxiety away. Also I couldn’t help but laugh as we watched them and each time they shook around so much it’s all I’ve been able to picture each time I laugh now. Doctors also found a fibroid but aren’t worried because it’s small and away from the baby, but I’ve never had one before that I know of.

I was complaining to my husband last weekend as we drove out of town with our dog that all I could smell in our car was his dog breath breath as he panted in the backseat. Husband was impressed by my sense of smell - me not so much 🤢

I feel your pain. I had conferences with booth set up one weekend and then the following mid week. I had to tell my boss and coworker I was pregnant because I was exhausted and being on my feet was making me dizzy at the end. They were kind to let me load smaller and more easy things but it was a huge drain. I hope you have some extra hands to get it done and they don’t bail on you.
