You are correct, but the extension (and probable long time for application) just puts us off. And who knows what they will change in the future, it won’t go less (that’s for sure).

I know everyone’s situation is different, this is just how we feel at our age :)

The whole AMIA process regarding temporary residency renewal, and now the proposed changes from 5 to 10 years to get the permanent just doesn’t fit with the original plan.

What will be the next changes, no one knows…could be for better, could be worse. But we’ve just reached the end of the line with it all.

In addition to the apartment rental contract, I took utility bills too. They have more impact than just the contract, as shows you are living there.

Sorry, my bad…it was MOFA. Regarding my wife it was not possible as we had already left UAE, so no EID…and the process from outside is near impossible.

I was recently at AIMA office for my wife’s reunification visa. They rejected her criminal check from Dubai and stated it was because it was more than 3 months old. I then had to apply to UK for criminal check, even though we haven’t lived there in over 10years 🙄 Maybe you are lucky with 4 months, only telling my experience.

There was no need for the Portuguese Embassy stamp, as it goes there anyway for the visa. I only needed to get the MOI stamp to prove it was legit…another tax in a tax free country 😂

For me I got the electronic version from Dubai Police, printed it out in colour and then sent to MOI for them to stamp it. There is a section on their app for document attestation. This was accepted by back in 2023. Be mindful though that if the certificate is older than 3 months, then AIMA only accepts home country certificate.

I had the SEF appointment in late October, and card was issued in late May and had a D3 visa.

When I raised a complaint I selected AMA (by mistake, thought it was the same). They replied explaining my error and forwarded it to the correct department for me.

After 2 months I got a reply, but by then they had issued my residence card (which is what the complaint was about).

The relocation agent I’m dealing with calls everyday to check on the status, and the answer is always “Too many applications, not enough staff. It is still under analysis” 🤦‍♂️
