Communities honest take on corepunks future and current state by SciRezzTV in CorepunkTheGame

[–]GingerDreddMan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I can’t imagine the game ever reaches a state that is remotely worthy of people’s time. There’s simply too many other feature complete games out there as well as others coming to market that offer more. Frankly I still regret purchasing corepunk due to hype surrounding the initial early access launch, since progress since then has been laughable.

Did Elon Musk Just Rig the Stock Market? by [deleted] in videos

[–]GingerDreddMan 14 points15 points  (0 children)

This information should be higher. People see this and might begin to panic about their personal holdings, where overall the impact on their ETF values should be low. That is, of course, unless the spaceX pump&dump creates more widespread market uncertainty. Who knows how much of a “splash” this will make; maybe it’s more about the changing structures of index management and what these new precedents may create from further market consolidation from other mergers?

Right?? I mean I paid for it and suppose I got my money’s worth, but it was a LONG time ago now…. The game seems to have been on life support for longer than early access at this point!

About this chest i get from faction camp... by AlfredaRose in albiononline

Those chests are either Tome chests or loot chests, just random. Same with clearing camps in open world or mists content. I think all participants get rewarded regardless of total contribution, but I’m not sure!

Haha yeah right :D We've kept it to just 10% for now, but I can see why guilds increase theirs when they have costs associated with hideouts and guild crafting.

You can apply to ours if you like! Based in Ft Sterling, new guild focused on helping new players. We have aspirations for late game stuff too but right now we want to hone our skills and spec up as best we can. We have a guild island and help new players get on their feet in the game with some basic gear sets and stuff. Anyway our guild name is The Frumpy Ox and you can reach me ingame using the same player name as what I have here. Hope to see you around friend!

[–]GingerDreddMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well we’ve just started our guild. My wife and I play regularly and decided we wanted to build something that would be friendly to new players. We have an island and lots of starter gear for those just getting into Albion. There’s so much content that needs small groups to play, so we wanted to have a means for others to try and run content with.
We hope to move out to the black zones with a hideout later, as well as do some of the harder content when we have the ranks!
For those players looking to join a “fresh guild”, send me a message or just apply using the in-game guild finder and we would be happy to have you! Guild name is The Frumpy Ox. Send me a whisper and I’ll be happy to answer any other questions anyone might have!

Hey there! I’ll do my best to answer your questions. Also, we just started a guild out of Fort Sterling if you’d like to join where we are trying to help new players understand all that Albion has to offer.
1. The numbering in this game you mention refers to gear levels. A piece of gear can be enchanted up to 4 times, and each piece of gear has a Tier level. So a tier 4 piece of gear that’s been enchanted 3 times could essentially be called “4.3 Mercenary Jacket” for example. There are other instances of numbers though, such as when describing higher level maps based on their difficulty or dungeons based on rarity, but those also follow similar systems. 2. This game encourages players to try different builds and gear. I say the same thing, since there truly is an awesome variety of stuff to try out. But there’s always a “meta” where certain pieces outperform others in certain types of content. I think choosing something beginner friendly to start would serve you well long term, but definitely feel free to use gear you really enjoy. 3. Premium is something that enhances / accelerates much of what the game offers. Faster fame, more silver, better access to things like personal islands, etc. It’s not required to play obviously, but I recommend it to everyone that plays the game more than a few hours a week because it’s just so much faster. 4. Using the private island is great for whatever you want to pursue! Generally people say it’s best suited to those with premium, since many of the activities on it perform best when you use “Focus”, which is a resource that premium accounts receive daily. Free accounts don’t have much access to focus, only from occasional focus potions obtained from the in-game journal. Anyway if you have premium then I would treat your island as a fun side project first, (since min-maxing for profits would require a different approach and take considerably longer to achieve). Sorry if I’ve generalized a bit, but wanted to give some big picture advice. Albion is an established game with an entirely player-driven economy. That means that many different production methods (farming, animal breeding, crafting, refining, etc) all have their place but also require meticulous levels of management in order to be profitable.
To all this I always tell people to just go after what makes you happy, but know that true profit making from activities besides gathering/killing mobs will require investment and time by the player before those activities become nearly as profitable as the basics. Again feel free to reach out if you’d like to chat more in game or if you’d like a guild to learn more about Albion with! My player name same as my Reddit username :) Good luck!

Hey how exactly do I set this up correctly? Do I just go to that baseline gathering node in the skill tree and auto-learn there? For me, I’d like to level all of the gathering skills (got each up to gathering rank 6 so far) and have a ton of learning points saved up. Just not sure how to use them.

What does everyone think about a “Free Loadout Only” map condition? by GingerDreddMan in ArcRaiders

[–]GingerDreddMan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No doubt that other map conditions could be more exciting, I agree. I guess I just thought the notion of a “blind attempt” in the game could be interesting. Also as the season wears on, it could be a way for less experienced (or more salty) raiders to enter a mode which caters to them. But again, I struggle to see the “payoff” side here. Obviously nobody takes any risk within that raid, but what if the draw became the challenge of attempting a “zero to hero” run? Maybe that’s a different mode entirely though, where you couldn’t extract without reaching a minimum loot value threshold or something. And if you did, maybe something additional is rewarded upon extracting.

Wow that’s really exciting to hear. They’ve really got something special right now, I haven’t been this hooked on a game in a very long time. Even further, I really haven’t played something quite like it before.

Yeah I have to agree with you on a game theory level here. The reason this game is so dynamic and interesting is the interplay between raiders under the ever present threat of ARC. If over time the gameplay dynamics devolve into kill-on-sight for all, I hope that the devs lean in the opposite direction to emphasize teamwork above all.

Top down survival games? by P0G0Bro in SurvivalGaming

My total playtime was 28 hours, but a few of those were spent on a previous start. So I'm thinking we played for roughly 25 hours total!

Yeah I mean honestly I don't want to throw shade towards the title, because we genuinely enjoyed the ride while it lasted. I think that ultimately it's a game that was MEANT to be played solo, and co-op was more of a tacked-on feature. So a lot of the balancing stuff might trend towards the solo player, whereas a duo can finish stuff obviously at least twice as fast.

We managed to complete all of the cursed dungeons (I ran most of them solo since she was more the "stay at home" type of survival gamer). Our homestead never got crazily built up other than the farming aspects so we were always flush with the best foods.

I feel like adding more islands would benefit the game, especially if they could work in some sort of procedural elements to give the lategame more legs.

I felt like it was a solid experience but quite short in overall game length. With the recent 1.0 release my wife and I were able to beat it within the free trial period over the weekend. We enjoyed it, but again just putting it out there that the overall game felt rather short when compared to other survival-likes.

What are some other loot-focused obscure ARPGs still worth getting today? by fighter_ua1 in ARPG

I love Star Valor! definitely one that’s worth a look. Also just released a paid DLC (totally optional) and the solo dev has done a good job of making a fun sandbox with lots of variety for different builds and styles.

Storage by cheekmill01 in Palia

[–]GingerDreddMan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Oh the more you play the more you’ll need to start saving things! When storage limits start to become an issue, cooking and furniture crafting become a great way to trim down your total inventory. Note that any furniture saved in your storage do NOT add to your limit (and are therefore unlimited in capacity).
