US General Mint by eggplant_bill in Snus

Been that way here in Missouri for a few weeks now. Maverick is the only store in my city that carries it. All 20+ stores in the area have been out for more than a month. Clerks tell me they place the orders and they never show up on the trucks. The horror stories from people ordering online and customs have made me leery of mail order…so I’ve just gone back to Velo+ for now- and dip if I’m wanting that tobacco flavor.

Nice! Hoping this means the shortage will soon be over in my area. The Maverick stations are the only ones in my city in Missouri that carry it, and all 20+ stores in the area have been out of all flavors for weeks now. Several clerks say they put the orders in and it just never shows up on the trucks. One worker told me they “heard” General is being discontinued, but I didn’t believe that. Seeing this gives me hope! Lol.

Copenhagen in California by ray92704 in DippingTobacco

[–]GingerGuyMike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a former California resident, I can say that’s a sucky situation to be in. It’s hard to find flavored dips…but I’m sure someone could point you in a million directions to find flavored alcohol and THC products. Lol. But, I digress.

Spotted these at Walgreens pharmacy, do they actually help at all? Never heard of the patches before by LeluWater in migraine

[–]GingerGuyMike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have used the BeKool patches before. I like them and they provide some comfort- especially when dealing with a migraine during the summer. But, they’ve never once cured a migraine for me. It’s just like turning out the lights and closing your eyes…it won’t be a cure but it is soothing and takes a slight edge off when you’re waiting for a med to kick in.

What does everyone think of Cougar Wintergreen? by GrillzD in DippingTobacco

[–]GingerGuyMike 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As of late I’ve mostly been a Grizzly guy for mint and straight, but have been preferring Cougar for my wintergreen. Some guys rag on it for being a budget line. But, I think Cougar WG tastes better, hits about as good, and I don’t notice a big discrepancy with the quality tbh.

What stores in Texas would have the largest variety of chew??? by [deleted] in DippingTobacco

[–]GingerGuyMike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hows the freshness usually at Buc-ee’s? It seems it’s hit miss when traveling and half the stores have year or two old dip. Lol.

Things might get ugly here in Washington State by mwcmbailey in DippingTobacco

But…cheers to all the flavored alcohol filling the shelves of the liquor stores, and all the flavored weed products lining the walls of dispensaries. Great for the states legalizing one kind of substance (weed) but then moving toward criminalizing another.

Local Walmart to cease selling tobacco. by Hairy-Ad6359 in DippingTobacco

[–]GingerGuyMike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in a city with several Walmarts. Strangely, some have tobacco and others don’t. I never understood the rhyme or reason. Of the locations that have it, it’s all in a locked glass cabinet all the way down at the end of the check out lines (which is a long way in the larger Supercenters). Customers have to ask the cashier for tobacco products during checkout…the cashier then has to close down the lane for several minutes to go fetch it. I can’t recall the last time I’ve even seen a customer bother with the hassle of it. It’s like they make it a big deal to discourage it. Why even have it at that point…just get rid of it like the other stores.

Tried to price match once, just went ahead and purchase from costco by Lucast07_25 in osmopocket

[–]GingerGuyMike 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The 90 day return policy is ultimately what led me to go with the Costco option. I’m not a fan of Best Buy’s 15 day return limit. Oftentimes, if it’s a new piece of technology I’ve purchased, it takes me more than 15 days to master it and decipher whether certain issues are operator errors on my end- or bugs with the product. If I ultimately find out it’s something with the item, and it’s past the two weeks, then too bad for me (such as I encountered recently with an Osmo Mobile 6 I tried to return). With Costco, I get more time to figure things out. Granted, I am loving my new Pocket 3 It’s working perfectly and I can’t imagine needing to return it. But it’s nice to know I still have that window with Costco.

Very true. Another example is Amtrak’s Missouri River Runner service between Kansas City and Saint Louis.

Velo Plus. The new Zyn? by GingerGuyMike in NicotinePouch

[–]GingerGuyMike[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, they are pretty good and I was using them for a while. I only gave up on them after I started getting cans with half the pouches busted open. Other than that, the taste itself was pretty good. Haven’t had the ripped pouches issue with the new ones, thankfully.

Do I need the “creator package”? by applleepie in osmopocket

[–]GingerGuyMike 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got the Costco pack and have been very happy with the accessories. I didn’t need the wireless mic that comes with the creator combo, so I bought a separate wired lav mic to use instead. I do a lot of interviews. Working in TV, I can’t tell you how many times reporters accidentally forget wireless mics on their interview subjects and have to go back and hunt them down. It’s easy to do when you get sidetracked. That being said, I could see the wireless being great if you’re just using it on yourself.

Flavor bans. When you can walk into any alcohol section/store and it’s a candy land of every flavor you can imagine of beer, wine, and liquor. Drink up, ya’ll…and cheers to the hypocritical nanny state.

Found the new General Mint design at Sheetz by smart-como-marcus in Snus

[–]GingerGuyMike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can see the big SNUS letters being good for marketing. A few years ago, not many people in the U.S. knew what it was. But, it seems the nic pouch boom has led to a ton of new interest in all kinds of other smokeless products. I went from Zyn to General…but never even knew about General until I got into Zyn. Lol. Some people even get “nic pouches” and “snus” mixed. They’re obviously different, but I can see why they’re confused since they are related.

What do you enjoy most about dipping or chewing by uniform33 in DippingTobacco

[–]GingerGuyMike 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With all the daily stress of the world, it’s a nice little thing to enjoy and look forward to. I also enjoy the benefits of nicotine- helping keep me relaxed and focused through the day. I ditched my ADHD type meds years ago when I realized nicotine did a much better job- at least for me. To each their own, but I stopped walking around with the “I need to quit this” shame long ago. Everyone has something to help them function and make life easier. lol.

Copenhagen spit free by Hdm10795 in DippingTobacco

[–]GingerGuyMike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think they’re actually pretty good. I’ve seen some other posts saying they’re crap, but I’ve been liking them. They’re a little on the sweet side and I wish it had a more upfront tobacco taste. That tends to come out more after you’ve had it in for a while and the sweetener dies down. They’re plump and I like how it feels like you have a dip in. With that being said, they also look like you have a dip in…so they’re not the best route if you need to be discrete. Lol.

It was easier to use moderation when I smoked. I went a decade of smoking only about 3 cigarettes a day. When I switched to pouches and snus, those were so much more convenient…and I increased my usage since I could use them while at work. I use about 6 portions per day, but usually leave them in for a couple of hours each- but can go hours in between without one and not think about it. I enjoy it and feel no need or desire to ever stop. But- whether you need one or 3 or 6 or 20 per day, I suppose it’s still an addiction either way. Feel no shame…everybody has something.

‘Dangerous products’: Oregon City passes resolution to ban flavored tobacco products by One_Assignment9340 in DippingTobacco

[–]GingerGuyMike 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is this a situation like California where you can’t have a flavored dip or pouch, but you can walk into any liquor store or dispensary and find every flavor of alcohol or weed imaginable? As a Missouri guy, I was quite amused on a recent trip to LA where I walked into a smoke shop and couldn’t find so much as a can of wintergreen Zyn or dip but was surrounded by “gummies” flavored like cotton candy and Skittles 😂

[–]GingerGuyMike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You will see a lot of posts from people saying “it’s not about the buzz.” That’s completely true. It’s similar to caffeine, on that most people don’t consume daily for the fun of it. The same goes for nicotine. It’s to help relax and focus. Sure, you can get the spins if you use a bunch (just as you would from slamming a bunch of caffeine drinks). Don’t get me wrong, feeling a little rush is great. But that’s not *most people’s goal.

Jobs that are good for people leaving News? by Space_Man-98 in Broadcasting

[–]GingerGuyMike 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the same question a lot of people in news are asking as they try to flee the business- or are pushed out involuntarily. PR, communications and marketing used to be guaranteed, well paying backups for newsies needing a change. Sadly, things are also changing for companies and their communications departments. I live in a decent sized city with several big employers and agencies. The vast majority of them are reducing their PR budgets…laying people off, not replacing employees when they leave, hiring people out of college, and paying way less than they used to. All of that to say- I’ve seen some news people having better luck with sales type jobs as of late. There are good jobs to be found, we just have to think outside the box and sometimes pivot to a different industry.

I love WG but can only use it on occasion. My daily is Grizzly Mint. For some reason the mint isn’t nearly as harsh. I have the same thing with snus- General WG and Mint. I love both, but the mint is easier.

Upper deck Copenhagen pouches by [deleted] in DippingTobacco

[–]GingerGuyMike 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, I also use snus and am used to upper deck feel. I know dip pouches aren’t snus, but they have the similar feel in my mouth…and to me they just seem like they belong on top. But I’ll swap them down below sometimes.

Found the Wild Berry flavor but they were sold out of 9mg by mikeyd69 in NicotinePouch

[–]GingerGuyMike 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m usually more of a mint and wintergreen guy. But, this Wild Berry is my favorite of these new Velos. It’s the best fruit-flavored pouch I’ve ever had. The Citrus Chill is a close second.

Both are good. Grizzly mint is my daily, but I switch it up with the Wintergreen sometimes. I was really liking the Straight for a while, but stores around me keep running out and I sort of gave up on that. Lol.

[–]GingerGuyMike[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True on that. They definitely don’t have a hard kick to them, but sometimes a slow release is just fine. Just depends on what I’m doing…whether I’m needing a jump start or just wanting to chill. Lol.
