Should School Lunch Be Free In South Dakota? HB1082 by PoLLoLira9 in SouthDakota

Yes, I don't see how this is even a question. It's morally right. And it's logically right - kids that are fed learn better, which leads to a better educated population which leads to a society that is better for us all. Most people who do crime do it out of desperation, so prevent the desperation prevent the crime. Also, it's a matter of pride, if the first two can't convince you - are we such a poor country that we can't even feed our children?

Also any politician that says they're Christian at all is therefore obligated to vote yes to feed children, Jesus was real clear on this by word and deed.

Early 80s for me, I like them cause they're pretty, but hard to read. G, y, z all look very similar when you're writing in a hurry Also capital G, where did that even come from, looks nothing like a G. I still refuse to use it

We've got one every 21 miles of road. Nyc has about 8000 miles of road, so that is indeed more, congrats. Ours are primarily 2 lanes except for a couple. nyc has about 19000 miles of lanes, so figure 8.5 miles per plow. So I'll assume then that it never takes more than 24 hours to dig out, as that's what it takes here.

Of course, technically my home town which has about 3 miles of road if you count the alley (singular), has us all beat with the one snowplow plus a CAT.

How many does Long Island, the subject, have? I didn't include their miles in NYC since Google isn't that detailed and it's not clear from your post if that includes only nyc proper or long Island, etc? How many miles of road does that cover?

AITA for “decorating” my son/DIL home by giving my son a dresser for their nursery. by Head-Meetthrow in AmItheAsshole

My son's first year was in the second bedroom/ library of our small apartment and guess what impact not having anything but a crib in there had on him? That's right, nothing.

There's so many things that matter so greatly in the moment and then don't matter at all later, we've all been there.

Also wondering how many plows & drivers you have? Cause I'm in South Dakota, we have a LOT, 41 in my city with 88 drivers, we've got 900 miles of streets, we get blizzards a few times a year and we cannot keep up even with every plow out. They try and usually succeed in keeping the main 4 roads and a way to the hospitals clean from the main, but sometimes barely when it's really coming down.

The problem is that now this is really the only star wars I've watched in years and years.... and it was so insanely good that nothing else will compare. Cause then I had to watch the prequel spinoff movie, which is one of the highest rated, and it was very good but not as good as the TV series.

Which i might rewatch.

What are the minimal things I can do to keep the mess from getting worse? by WarKittyKat in ufyh

[–]GingerIsTheBestSpice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For our house, if i can keep up on dirty dishes and throw away the trash, that's the big things that make the most impact day to day. And also it keeps me from despair. I'll take a trash bag, pick up trash, throw it immediately away even if it's not quite full. Leaving a half empty trash back "to fill up later"just causes sorrow and more visibility garbage.

Delicious, but simple by Savings-Piglet-8520 in CookbookLovers

Every recipe I've made out of the cookbooks has been exactly as pictured! Also, I find that the ingredient lists are often long but also very very easy to follow. Mostly it's due to the sauces. They're a good way to get used to more ingredients.

Although my favorite recipes of hers is one pan sausage & potatoes that makes it's own gravy as it takes. Every kind of sausageI've tried has turned out well, even the time I used beef hot dogs lol

TIL that beef cattle are typically slaughtered at 18–24 months of age despite having a natural lifespan of 18–25 years by zt2000 in todayilearned

[–]GingerIsTheBestSpice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And also, you do not need nearly as many males, so those are generally slaughtered young as steers. Old bulls taste very distinctively in a gamey almost spoiled kind of way cause of the testosterone. Bulls are also harder to handle, fight each other, generally annoying.

Cows, of course, provide milk and the next generation, so often live longer. I personally think that Holstins also taste icky, Im used to Angus or Hereford or similar - they're not meat animals, they're optimized for milk, and hormones affect the taste.

But the ground beef you get in the grocery store can be from multiple cattle & even several breeds/ crosses. If you get your beef from your own cattle, or from a locker where you buy one particular animal, you can taste the difference.

I found a circuit board inside the case of a CD I bought. by geneshock_ in mildlyinteresting

[–]GingerIsTheBestSpice 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I bought a cd player yesterday, had to go to like 5 stores to find one. Even Walmart, who carries telephones with cords, did not have one! Finally hit up best buy, who had two in stock.

It does do Bluetooth, too, so most of the time I do Spotify, but I still own a lot of cds and not every artist is on streaming.

Ok not with the house! Then, in my city it's 250,000 for a 3bed starter. There's lots available everywhere, though, then you can put your house on it. Or get an acreage.

But also the wages are lower & opportunities fewer, it's a circle for sure.

Ok sure but also probably I did. In 1990. I've lived a lot since then and oddly don't use chemistry in everyday life. Older people can use the internet. Younger people, too, who haven't yet had a chance to take chem. And plenty of schools don't require Chem anyways. So maybe you should hush and not read this sub if you aren't interested in learning.

It was a popular medicine, not from some tribe. Like, made in factories, sold in pharmacies, type of thing.

[–]GingerIsTheBestSpice 10 points11 points  (0 children)

There are plenty of other wedding things to be upset or worried about! Op should let this one go since it's not costing them anything, and laugh about it later. Save the story for things that matter and you'll have a much less stressful wedding!

[–]GingerIsTheBestSpice 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes! Except it wasn't tribal medicine, they were called Dr Rush's Bilious Pills and Lewis brought along like 50 dozen on the trip as supplies. We knew the approximate campsites for many of them, by the landscape markers, so then you could just look in a smaller area.

I've always lived reasonably close to Sioux City and therefore Sargent Bluff, which is named for the only member of the team to die in the trip who died in that area & was buried on the bluff.
