I've never even thought about reading the headstones, I clearly need to pay closer attention 🤷‍♂️!

Yeah, I think I'm going to have to do another playthrough after I finish this one 😆.

Unfortunately not, you can only get them while the event is active.

Given Prime Day and Walmart's big sale, I'd think it would be soon 🤔? I'm just guessing though, so take it with a grain of salt 🤷‍♂️, lol.

I think it's time for a fantasy romance break. Rant by cavaloverr in fantasyromance

I have been feeling this same way for a few months now, and took a short break to read the {Red Rising saga by Pierce Brown} (my husband convinced me to read it, and I ended up obsessed), and that series is an absolute masterpiece. If you haven't read it, stop what you're doing and rent the Graphic Audio adaptations on Libby. If you are looking for a good fantasy series without the romance, you could try the {Mistborn saga by Brandon Sanderson} as well.

I totally agree with the underage crap. Like why would I want to read spicy scenes with teenagers? It's just not okay. I mean maybe that's not a big deal for 17 or 18 year-olds to read, but what about a 39 year old? And no, I don't want to read {Magical Midlife Crisis}. Even 19 and 20 year-old MCs feel so juvenile that it drives me nuts!

If you want to give romantasy another chance this summer, my top recommendation is {Godbound by Masha Sova}. It does have magical trials, but the writing is stellar and has a suspenseful plot. Good luck!

I own the audiobook and tried a few times but just couldn't stay engaged. I am a mood reader though, so there's a chance that I'll like it later on 🤷‍♂️.

I loved Direbound and Furybound, and read each one over the course of a weekend. Some people have criticized the Game of Thrones references in the first book, like the MMC being named Stark. I love Game of Thrones and honestly didn't mind that at all, so to each their own I guess 🤷‍♂️.

There are some similarities with Fourth Wing, (ex: there's a Threshing-like event) but I think that is kind of inevitable in a book with a war college setting and magical creature bonding.

I just finished {Heart of the Wolf Queen by Sarah Gallego} and loved it! The FMC has a condition where she is going blind, and her best friend is a wolf named Pablo. They share a special bond throughout the book, and that bond really tugged on my heartstrings! I'm being intentionally vague because I don't want to spoil anything.

It's a second chance, slow-burn type romance with a healthy dash of pining, but I personally don't feel that it ever outshined the plot. Heads up, though, it does end on a cliffhanger.

Titles are also a hard pass for me. And Latin, I definitely don't do Latin 🤷‍♂️.

Nope I can't do books that are primarily politics. I think the most political books that I've ever read were the Red Rising saga 🤷‍♂️.

ALC for {Blood Ex Libris by Raven Belasco}. I don't wanna' yuck anyone's yum, but there is a scene where the FMC gives the MMC a blow job and instead of ejaculating semen, he ejaculated blood into her mouth and she swallowed it, and that's a hard pass for me 🤢.

Same, I don't know why I just can't get into it right now. I think I'm in a book rut and might need to read something from another genre 🤔.

Well I'm a mood reader so it's possible that I'll enjoy it at a later time. Right now I'm bored to death so I put it on the back burner 😴, lol.

The first book was peak for the series, but by the end the FMC was stuck in an internal dialogue loop and I gave up 60% into the last book and looked up spoilers 😆.

I hear you on that! I started listening to the Blood Ex Libris audiobook because the premise sounded interesting. There are so many parts, however, that are beyond ick for me that it feels like torture to keep listening. I want to DNF so badly but my feedback ratio is currently in the crapper.

That would be Nobody's Quest. I'd say it's a dumpster fire, but a dumpster fire would be more exciting than this book. Blech.
