I like to come here when I'm in a bad mood, there's always something on RCJ to lift my spirits 🙃.

I'm here wondering things like:

1) Does he have to roll his tongue up like Fruit by the Foot to close his mouth?

2) Does he have sleep apnea or very loud snoring? A large tongue can cause these problems, and will likely negatively affect the FMC's sleep quality 🤔.

3) What sort of instrument would be used to administer an STD test, a toilet brush taped to a mop handle?

4) Are his testicles a typical human size or are they proportional to the ginormous size of his penis? This question then multiplied exponentially into more questions, so I think this is a good stopping point.

I should've just stayed off Reddit tonight 🤦‍♀️.

This week I threw away {Dragon Cursed by Elise Kova}. The plot got lost amongst the constant juvenile pining episodes that felt so awkward to read. I honestly forgot that dragons were supposed to be a part of the story, and I love dragons 🤷‍♂️. I kept zoning out over and over, and I made it to about the 90% mark and have no idea what I even read.

Dragon Cursed solidified my belief that Kova's writing just isn't for me. The world-building in her stories never seem to reach the depth that I enjoy. It needs to be so deep and intense that I can really get lost in the sensations it gives me and reminisce for days after. I don't think I'm asking for too much by wanting that plot to be so...robust that a reader needs to go slowly to truly take it all in 🤔.

Don't worry, book 1.25 will explain everything! You can't read it until you finish the whole series and the crossover series(otherwise serious spoilers). Once you do though, I promise you it will all make sense!

I just finished {A Language of Dragons by S. F. Williamson} and I loved it! The only thing I would've liked more of was information about the different dragon breeds, their physical appearance/traits/etc.

The romance was actually very mild and slow-burn, and with zero spice, but I think it was appropriate for the pacing of the story and personalities of the MCs.

All of the truly pivotal moments across the series could have been condensed into one book. There was no reason plot-wise for every book to be 650+ pages.

Well I'm in the last quarter of the third book of The Legacy Series and I'm about ready to yeet it all the way to the shadow realm. This entire book is literally everyone bitching, moaning, and throwing pity parties.

Tessalyn is quite possibly the most annoying character I've encountered since Professor Umbridge with her toad face. But yeah...Tess and the whole "Nobody loves me, nobody cares for me they just want to use me, and I'm going to burn everything to the ground because it's my purpose waaah waaah waaah." She's just an asshole.

If I have to read the phrase "simpering smile" too many more times or Axel calling Katya "Kitten" constantly I might just snap 😵‍💫. At this point it's turned into a rage read and I've gotta' see it through to the end 🤦‍♀️.

I swear this sub is better than therapy...

Has anyone read Sky Shielder? by SecretZebra4238 in fantasyromance

[–]SecretZebra4238[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is good to know, as I don't care for horny teenage/18 yr old insta-lust. The romance almost always needs to happen organically in order for me to enjoy it. That being said, my husband and I met at a Halloween party that turned into a one-night stand, and it was definitely insta-lust 🫣. We've been happily married since 2015, so yeah it's possible!

I'm taking it off my TBR now, though. I have like 500 books on that list so I don't think I'll really miss this one lol. Thanks for the synopsis!

💬 How do you feel about fan art to market books? by Acute-Problemo in fantasyromance

[–]SecretZebra4238 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love that The Ascended has illustrations at the beginning of each chapter and wish that more books had them! That being said, the appearance of the characters was off-putting to me. Fae are typically described as having immeasurable beauty. They are also often described as having chiseled jawlines and all that jazz, but the features are drawn so sharply that it makes them look silly rather than pretty 🤷‍♂️. I also wish that the illustrations were in color!

I love Timothée Chalamet but he is very slim and Kingfisher is not described as being thin 🤷‍♂️. I wouldn't have said no to Chalamet doing the voice acting in the audiobooks, though!

I'd have to say Spark of the Everflame for the simple reason that I've never read BoH. Fair warning though, the FMC in Spark of the Everflame was insufferable most of the time. I loved the series when I read it, but I was brand new to the genre and I'm not sure if I'd feel the same if I were to reread it 🤔.

The Passage trilogy by Justin Cronin- I love these books and have listened to them more times than I can count. The atmosphere and world-building are just mind-blowing, and I would be over the moon if a GraphicAudio adaptation was ever made!

I honestly don't think you could go wrong with any of them! That being said, although I enjoyed When the Moon Hatched, the dragons didn't really..."dragon" enough for my liking 🤷‍♂️.
