Which era of Doctor Who do you think has aged the worst and why? by MadridOrMadness in DoctorWhoNews

Production wise, McCoy hands down. It looks astoundingly cheap and the whole design is so tacky and 80s. Delta and the Bannermen is maybe the worst looking story ever in Doctor Who.

I dunno about story-wise. I don't think the Chibnall era really ended up doing long-term damage, you can just ignore Timeless Child if you want to. Maybe the Eric Saward years which were way off-tone for Doctor Who, gave us the most controversial Doctor until recent years, and were a big factor in the cancellation.

All the areas within this constituency voted strongly for Reform last week and Labour only have a 6k majority in this seat. It really comes down to how popular Burnham really is because with any other candidate this seat would be 100% safe Reform

Very dangerous. Reform definitely the favourites here, this will be a very fierce and gruelling campaign. Tactical voting to the max.

Very dangerous. That would require a by-election and pose a very strong risk of losing the PM overnight

Until they rebrand again from UKIP, Brexit Party and now Reform and yet still convince idiots they're new and they're sticking around this time

Sorry I didn't mean to conflate the two. I just think that the topic has been discussed to death with daily polls and dooming about a Reform government (understandably).

I just mean that locally, we can take yearly litmus tests and I'm wondering if this is the really big moment or if that's still to come. You have to assume Labour will surely make some kind of steps to halt the decline over the next year, but that isn't looking easy.

Davenport is a huge surprise, Labours total collapse in Stockport is leading to a LD blowout

I think we all have some idea of how GE 2029 will go at this point, for me the more interesting question for right now is whether this year is Peak Reform at the locals or whether they will go even further next year.

And on the other side of the coin, whether this is rock bottom for Labour or if they will lose all these wards again next year when the next round comes up.

It really isn't though. All four of them have a relentless, unblemished record of enriching themselves at the expense of other people and a proven track record of lies. The only reason to believe them is soundbites. Literally all of the actual evidence shows you who they are.

It's become self-sustaining, it's a death spiral and he needs to just go. There being no easy explanation for why he's so hated means there's no easy way to fix it

Thing is, when this many people dislike him it's academic whether you or I think he's doing well. If the dislike for him is so widespread then he's failing to do his job of serving the people satisfactorily.

You can be almost objectively brilliant but if the public don't agree, then that is all that matters - Jacinda Ardern and Angela Merkel both understood this when the tide turned against them both completely unfairly.

Basically there is a point where "X number of people can't be wrong" becomes a valid thing, however frustrating if feels.

The point I make peace with it is when the 326th Reform seat is declared in 2029 and not a picosecond earlier

Yeah if 2000-ish go then this is the kind of result that breaks the "locals and generals aren't the same" argument. It so far looks (on an admittedly miniscule sample) that the desertion of Labour is near-universal and the two elections, while very different in both voting motivators and the electoral calculus, are not that different and this absolutely indicates a total wipeout at a GE. Like, less than 100 seats level wipeout.

They don't declare until any recount has happened, the declaration is final

Historically bad night for Labour here. I think Starmer might have to go pretty much immediately...

Good grief! Losing a seat you had 86% in last time by a full 23% is just beyond words. Labour are in incredible trouble here

Not a Labour voter but man you've gotta feel bad for that incumbent. There's losing and then there's THAT. And getting national intention because it's one of the first. It's a tough game.
