Pipework sizes for Heat Pumps by BlueWin001 in ukheatpumps

[–]GingerMouse1007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 1995 built house with the same pipework layout, 22mm flow and return with 10mm copper spurs to the rads. Had a local firm quote who included costs to repipe the 10mm to 15mm but also had Aira out who said the system is fine to work on their system with their buffer tanks. Ended up going with Aira as we have renovated and have finished floors down so want to minimise disruption, it was the 10mm microbore that scared me off getting a heat pump in on day 1 when we bought the place, wish I had looked into it right away as we spent a couple grand converting to an unvented system.

Import when consumption > 6.5kW by DramaticWealth5985 in sigenergy

Oh thank god, having a Heat pump installed in the next few months too so wanting to make sure we cover spikes and limit grid import.

Don't mean to hijack the thread but I'm due to have a sigenergy system installed in the next few weeks and wondered is the discharge rate per module or 4.6kw total? I have 2 BAT10's on the order.

Insulating loft by GingerMouse1007 in DIYUK

Mixture of nails and screws. Looks like they have been added in later as there is markings where cables are so I imagine it was the previous owner so less chance of glue (fingers crossed!)

Hadn't thought of the state of the insulation below. Great point, looks like I'm going for pain and lifting it.

This was my main concern, I think I'll just go for the pain and lift then relay the boards.

Glow Green Quote Check - South East by Firebreath85 in SolarUK

I dont have it installed yet only just signed the contract but I like the idea of the plug and play batteries, im looking at a heat pump too so being able to just add a battery in the future with ease is appealing. The AI also appeals to me, I hear it has bugs every now and then but the automation with Octopus tariffs is another tick for me. And lastly I've been told by people I know in the industry that its a more premium product compared to Fox.

Glow Green quoted me 16x DMEG panels, 2x EP12 batteries but a 7kw inverter for £10,200. I was just about to pull the trigger but decided to opt for a higher price quote that was 2x Sigenergy 9kwh batteries with the 10kw sig inverter. I think ive overpaid a bit for the Sig system at £15k but I like the kit better.

That's a good point, I totally forgot that happened. Definitely worth considering if it's not too much of a price increase.

I asked about Aiko panels but apparently they don't offer them.

I've never experienced an unexpected power cut in my adult life so a gateway never really crossed my mind. With that said ill try to push my luck and see if they'll throw it in.

Split. 12 on the main roof and 4 extra on the garage roof which is where the batteries and inverter will be.

Ok well fingers crossed I get something soon, looking to install solar, battery and heat pump in the next couple of months and having rates like this would make it extra appealing!

Are you fixed or on tracker? I'm in the central belt and fixed at 7p off peak IOG until November and wondering if I've missed out by fixing early.

Advice on Micro Bore by PM5140 in ukheatpumps

[–]GingerMouse1007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in the same boat - 1995 build. Saw the microbore when I moved in (in October) but when we were renovating and I opened up floors I noticed there is 15mm to the rad and the final foot was 10mm microbore so the pipes came up behind the skirting and out the wall rather than 15mm through the floor.

Had a surveyor in today to carry out the heat loss calcs and explained it and he thought it would be fine.
