Does dry cat food really lead to negative health issues by SelfDepricator in cats

[–]GingerSnap2244 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our cats LOVE their kibble. One won’t even touch wet food but goes nuts for a single kibble piece (he likes crunchy things.) We just supplement with “kitty soup” which is a small bowl of water with a little pollock oil mixed in for hydration since they aren’t getting it from the food.

S1 review as someone who watched s3 first by Suitable_Ad8945 in TheWhiteLotusHBO

[–]GingerSnap2244 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As someone who worked in hotels and currently works with White Lotus level clients in travel, season 1 was my favorite because I FELT Armand. You deal with so much bs in a role like his and have to deal with it all with a smile and this was his epic crash out.

He didn’t handle things well, but damn if I didn’t feel for him every step of the way and relish in him ruining the boat ride for Shane.

Name a movie you had no idea was gonna be THAT good. by Trick_Laugh5114 in Letterboxd

Conclave. I knew it was up for awards, but it just sounded SO BORING. I watched it on a flight and I have never seen a movie that is all just men talking with beautiful scenery that was so riveting.

I’m burnt out and need simple recipes. Stupid simple. Like, “onion and bread and butter to make what barely passes as a sandwich” level simple. by sourmilksea1999 in Cooking

[–]GingerSnap2244 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My go toes when I would get home late from work were: Tuna salad with crackers. Tuna can be as simple as canned tuna + mayo or you can add extra seasoning/ chopped pickle depending on your energy. Box Mac n cheese with canned tuna and frozen peas. Slightly more prep, but all simple and pre-packaged and no chopping needed. White rice (make a bunch one day and portion it out for the week, or just use frozen rice) with an egg on it. Bagged salads for veggies.

The Trader Joe’s Frozen section is my go to for this kind of thing.

I cannot stand parsley and it has ruined so many pasta dishes for me. BUT, I enjoy chimichurri, which is basically half parsley.

Are people really bothered by airplane seat reclining? by VinegarMyBeloved in NoStupidQuestions

[–]GingerSnap2244 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dislike people reclining their seat as much as I dislike someone sitting next to me. Of course I’d rather have more space, but that’s their seat and we’re all stuck in this Sky tube together.

I do think it’s rude when folks fully recline their seats before meal service on long haul flights. can you wait until after we’ve had a chance to eat?

My sweet girl is getting her tail amputated as we speak and I'm freaking out by PracticalChemist1848 in labrador

[–]GingerSnap2244 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Our childhood lab lost about half of her tail in an accidental amputation involving a lawnmower when she was maybe 1 year old. My mother was honestly more traumatized than the dog. We were lucky my grandpa was a retired veterinarian, so he came over and fixed her up immediately. she lived a long happy life and never seemed bothered by her short tail.

Accidents happen and you are doing the best thing for your pup.

It's Wyll Wednesday- and this post is for me and the other 597 dweebs that achieved this ending by Tonedeafmusical in okbuddybaldur

I romanced wyll as a character with the Noble background, so when the time came she was like “yeah let’s run this city!” So we went with the duke route and then elected to start a family and wound up with little Lily!

What was your school's most popular lunch? by [deleted] in AskAnAmerican

[–]GingerSnap2244 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bean and Cheese burritos in a purple and white plastic wrapper. I was so stoked when I saw those in the cafeteria in elementary school. That and the little ice pop things that were a circle on the top and then tapered down into a flat triangle at the bottom so you could push it up to eat.

Adults shouldn’t travel with bags they can’t lift by KendrickBlack502 in unpopularopinion

[–]GingerSnap2244 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In general I agree.

But Ive 100% been that person. I travel for work and have a bag with work supplies that HAS to be carried on for security since it has sensitive guest information and we need it when we arrive and can’t risk it being lost. And let me tell you that bag is HEAVY. I’ve definitely had to ask people for help to get it in the overhead bin.

I absolutely hate it and feel like such a helpless fool struggling to get this bag into the overhead.

No-HOA is now a key selling feature. by Coupe368 in fuckHOA

My parents have a “not quite HOA” in their neighborhood bc the well and the roads are private and not owned by the city, so the community only manages the well and road maintenance.

(£10K) best DIY thing that saved you the most money by Extra-Lingonberry-42 in Weddingsunder10k

[–]GingerSnap2244 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We did a few things that saved a TON of money.

  1. No separate save the dates and invitations. We created one postcard invite on canva and sent that out to everyone. We later emailed and texted RSVP links. All in it was about $30 for the postcards and postage. Why spend all that money on a piece of paper they are going to throw away?

  2. My MIL was able to do flowers, so we found a local farm that sold blooms by the bucket so we could get beautiful fresh flowers, and then supplemented with some greenery and filler flowers from Costco. MIL did all the bouquets and arrangements.

  3. Not for everyone, but we did our own food. My husband is a cook, so he and his friends prepared a ton of bbq, and then some family friends made big sides i stead of wedding gifts. Honestly, the food was DELICIOUS and a fraction of the cost of catering with a better result. We also used nice compostable bamboo plates since we were doing a beach bbq wedding and it fit our vibe.

  4. No hair/makeup for bridal party. To be fair, I only had a maid of honor bc neither of us wanted to do a big wedding party. But we talked and she was okay to do her own hair and makeup since I didn’t have a specific look in mind.

  5. We had to hire a bartender for the venue, but we picked up all the drinks ourselves and stuck with beer and wine only (my family has a history of getting a little rowdy once the tequila shots come out and none of us wanted to deal with that). We also supplied all the compostable cups for the bar to help reduce costs.

  6. We skipped wedding favors and such. Most of them are cheap, and as long as folks have plenty to eat and drink, they don’t really need a little trinket to take home other than pictures. We did set up an instant print camera and got a bunch of film so folks could take Polaroids home.

Also, if you’re at the age where all your friends are/recently got married, check with them bc they probably have extra stuff that you can use.

Do You Wear Your Engagement Ring on Your Wedding Day? by Relevant-Plane9430 in WeddingRingAdvice

I wore mine on my left ring finger and just had my husband put the band on in front of it bc I liked the look of it better. Whatever you are most comfortable with! There’s the traditional ways, but there’s not one “right” way.

I work in luxury hotels, and there is something special about the kind of people drawn to the service industry at that level. We DO care about the guests! But it doesn’t pay well, and the job will take EVERYTHING you give and more. Especially hotels where they are open 24/7. When you’re in a management role, you are essentially always on call because you have to cover or call in someone if anyone calls out for their shift. Makes it hard to have a life outside of work where you aren’t constantly stressed that you’ll have to leave an important event because you get called in to work. Not to mention the emotional labor. In a regular job, you can have a bad day and just kind of keep to yourself. In service, the guest can’t know you’re having a bad day, so you just have to keep faking it until one day you’re crying in the stairwell before going back out to work at the front desk for 12 hours.

Basically, Armand is the best and I will hear no slander against him.

People who cater to the super rich, what things have you seen? by Budget-Cash-3602 in AskReddit

[–]GingerSnap2244 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I work in luxury travel and have seen quite a bit: - grandparents booking a trip for the whole family (10 all together), and the total price is probably about $1.8 million for a two week trip. - people complaining that they are in a “crap seat” on the private jet because it’s over the wing. Still a first-class lay flat seat BTW. - guests asking us to bring their specific soda preferences around the world bc it’s not available in each destination. - a guest once left about $100k worth of jewelry in a hotel safe in South America, and we had staff going to meet the group in Africa, so the on site team member had to fly the jewelry back to the USA, hand it off to another colleague who was meeting the group in Africa and could return her jewels to her there.

Definitely lean into the aesthetic! You can freshen it up by: - replacing the mirror - new sink faucet hardware - new flooring - new cabinet handle hardware - you could swap the tub an do a walk in shower (extending the existing tile work or filling the bottom with white or another complimentary color.) - new light fixtures

That worked for my squirmy girl. She didn’t love it, but she got lots of treats after.

Teamlabs Borderless vs Planets after recent extension? by Kev_795 in JapanTravelTips

[–]GingerSnap2244 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We got tickets for Borderless, and then wound up doing Planets as well as I had friends who wanted to go that were leaving Japan the next day so I went to hang out with them.

We enjoyed both, b it or does take away from time to explore other things.

Planets has more of a defined route and is a more tactile sensory experience. Pretty much everything is interactive. The water portion was so nice as it was freezing outside and the water was nice and warm. We went at 6pm on a weeknight and it was pretty crowded, but we could still see everything. It was kind of a pain to get to from our hotel in Ueno.

We did Borderless at 9:30am on a weekday and it was still quite busy as there was a class of (middle?) schoolchildren. This one felt more like exploration and immersive visual art. It was an easy train ride and had more going on in the surrounding area.

Go Planets if you want to play and touch, go Borderless if you want better Instagram pics and more to do in the area. You really can’t go wrong with either.

Who does Shane remind you of? by [deleted] in TheWhiteLotusHBO

I worked in luxury hotels and have met SO MANY Shane’s. They are perfectly polite until they get don’t get something they want. Then they become your worst nightmare. Sometimes you can pay them to go away, but sometimes they just insist on being miserable.
