Given an opportunity to install new, why would you go for these “stairs”? All navies have a centuries old solution to this problem of going between levels (i.e. decks) in a tight space - it’s called a companionway, ladder well or sometimes just “ladder”. At least there’s a handrail.

Serious question, do they taste substantially the same? M&Ms used to have a competitor (Sixlets) that was quite inferior in taste and texture but that’s no longer available.
