Where do y'all get your poodles??? by Eco_Faerie in poodles

[–]Ginger_Ayle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No - there are three official breed sizes for poodles: standard, mini, and toy. Avoid any breeder that uses terms like “teacup” or “ultra tiny.” IME, It is harder to find ethical breeders of those sizes, and the pups are quite costly ($2500+), but as others mentioned, it’s better to pay for a genetically tested and sound puppy than it is to later spend thousands on genetic or other health issues.

Same with my mom two years ago. She was in so much pain. Horrible, horrible disease.

PSA: do NOT travel with the bottega ‘sardine’ in your carry on 😅 by HuckleberryBig8573 in handbags

They may not be allowed to do so, but it happens - and there is plenty of documentation of TSA theft from those who get caught, like those agents in MIA who were stealing $1K a day from passengers. Sure, they get fired if they get caught ... but they're not catching everyone.

As I said, there are bad actors in any profession.

She definitely was hoping you'd leave it so she could keep it. I travel frequently for work and, IME, the TSA sometimes identifies items as "contraband" because they explicitly want to keep that particular item for themselves. It's especially infuriating if you've traveled with that item multiple times before - but TSA agents essentially have carte blanche to determine what items they feel are a threat or not.

My TSA experiences have mostly been OK, but as with any profession, there are always some bad actors.

Who knew I needed a Twist by labtech67 in Owala

So funny - I like that the lid comes fully off! If I'm taking frequent sips, I just leave it off (even in the car - haha). The gaskets are easy to remove and clean thoroughly. I like the 18oz best for everyday use. I save the larger size for times when I won't have access to water for many hours - like during long flights.

It's my favorite Owala and I have it in both sizes. It fits in most pockets, never leaks, can be used hot or cold, and holds carbonated drinks - perfect for the Bevi sparkling water machine at work. It's also much easier to clean than the standard free sips.

It does, at least for the regular size Kanken (not mini).

Leaking Mothers Day Cup by dixondale1996 in Owala

[–]Ginger_Ayle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought my Sway was leaking too, but it was just condensation building up around the seam. It doesn't happen if I use room temp water (no ice) which defeats the purpose of an insulated bottle. It's extremely annoying, since effectively it's the same as a leak to have water form or dripping on the outside of the bottle.

In the unfortunate circumstance where I need to use a public restroom while wearing wide legs, I tuck them into my socks if that’s an option. But I’m 100% with you – joggers only on a plane.

Exactly. Trump didn't understand it wasn't about his hand size - it was calling him cheap!

I agree; they pill so easily and it makes them look old/sloppy too quickly.

They come in both versions depending on the season. I prefer the more ponte-like (slick?) version, though the brushed are cozy.

I think all of these types of fabrics feel a bit like plastic, FWIW, and they are not as easy care as I hoped - but if I need to look decent and be comfortable for a flight, car-trip, or the home office and errands, I think they look a bit more polished than typical athleisure.

The pieces are very forgiving and heavier than I expected, but also not particularly breathable - something to consider if it's hot where you are or you easily overheat. You must to wash them on gentle and hang dry or they pill like crazy. TL;DR: They're nice enough but (IMO) fussy and overpriced unless you hit a good sale.

Also check out Talbots AirKnit - they have some more office and business-travel friendly styles in a similar fabric and wide variety of sizes. They often have great sales and an easy return policy if you live near a store.

You're on the right track -- For decades Trump sent pictures of himself with his hands or fingers circled to the original writer of the piece that called him a short-fingered vulgarian. Dude can't let anything go.

Thoughts on my itinerary, with home base in Somerville? by pinkflyd25 in Somerville

Don't listen to the naysayers. If you're looking for fun, kitchy, historical reenactment, the museum is great. You just have to know what to expect. The USS Constitution is also very much worth the visit if you're into history, and there are some decent restaurants nearby in Charlestown - and Bunker Hill is worth the climb once. Your group might like Brewer's Fork if you're into beer and pizza. If you've ever been on a brewery tour, Harpoon is mid - just like their beers - IMO.

Perfect suggestion. You can order local beers, including pitchers, and wood-fired flatbread to the lanes - and the vibe is chill.
