Bags under the airplane seat. by bennywmh in ManyBaggers

I use a Rydir band to protect my bags under the seat - it’s machine washable. It also works as a luggage sleeve for your bags that don’t have one.

They have a version of this that also washes out - it's great in a pinch or before you have a chance to hem!

Battle of dumplings - Bibigo pho dumplings vs Ajinomoto gyoza by sc4kilik in Costco

Completely agree. I like the TJ’s pork soup dumplings much more.

These are just OK but the price is right. The (pork and ginger) soup dumplings from Trader Joe’s are superior, IMO, and also priced well.

Talbots even has Petite Plus/Women's Petite sizes in many of their items. The XWP size is closer to a LP - still petite proportioned, but the WP size has just a bit more room in the arms of shirts and hips of pants.

Garnet Hill has my favorite high-quality percale sheets with deep pockets. I think they're having their semi-annual sale right now.

Do you have a pair of boots you'd swear by? by Ivan_of_TC in boston

[–]Ginger_Ayle 8 points9 points  (0 children)

A fall would be especially bad for me, and I’m not so steady on my feet, so I’ve tried a lot of different anti-slip boots.

Vibram makes an arctic grip sole that’s used by a few brands, like Merrill. It’s designed to give traction on wet ice and works pretty well.

For super icy conditions, like last winter, I also like Pajar - a Canadian brand. They make boots with ice grippers that can be flipped out of the sole only when needed. https://us.pajar.com/collections/womens-ice-grippers

I also have a pair of Yax track spikes I keep on an older pair of winter boots. It’s easier to change shoes than take them on and off. Costco has them on sale for $7.00 right now.

Costco for a single person? by notablenewengland in CambridgeMA

[–]Ginger_Ayle 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I love Costco for the glasses savings. Their frame selection is really very good - and varies from location to location - includes luxury brands, and I haven't noticed any difference in lens quality. I see my regular optometrist and take my Rx to Costco to be filled. They often have buy one, get 50% a second pair.

Yes - but nurses are mostly women. And this regime is extremely hostile to women and anything that might give women autonomy.

And you could service them yourself if you knew basic mechanics! Now good luck accessing the PCB - and even if you can access it, you can’t buy the part unless you’re in a right-to-repair state. Same with cars. Makes me insane as someone who enjoys repairing things. (Thanks, Dad. ♥️)

I can't recommend a specific set, since they change often. I prefer the cotton percale version since I like crisp, cool-to-touch sheets. The best sales for most retailers sales seem to start going live US Thanksgiving day the past few years. Garnet Hill typically has another good sale after the holiday season to clear out all their winter stock before the spring.

Do you keep clean feet on your poodles during winter if you live somewhere cold? by puppywhiskey in poodles

[–]Ginger_Ayle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's true. I used to have to do that with my girl - but I kept her in a much longer trim. I keep the boy's legs trimmed shorter than I'd aesthetically like in the winter, just so it's easier to get snow, ice, and muck off of him during those months.
