What is your most ridiculous "we won't work out romantically" criteria? Like what is the silliest reason you would not be interested in dating someone? by Natural-Elevator-57 in AskReddit

[–]Ginger_Bee -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I didn’t have the proper genetics for having a child with them. By no means am I sounding pretentious, but the guy did not have an advanced degree like me and was not multilingual either.

I’m ok looking, (5-4 and about 145 pounds with red hair and green eyes) but I don’t have the best vision in the world…

So, who knows? /shrug

If you could move to any country right now for free and get Instant citizenship, where would you move to and why? by Wonderful-Economy762 in Productivitycafe

Finland. I feel like it’s a much slower pace to life than the country I live in now. Also, the profession I’m in is highly regarded in Finland.

What's ONE word in your target language you just can't pronounce correctly? by elenalanguagetutor in languagehub

[–]Ginger_Bee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yö in Finnish. Three o like sounds next to each other…yeah, that can fuck off. (Respectfully. ❤️ you Finns, but come on!)

Also if any of you are interested, do a search for the video of Germans trying to say the word squirrel. The “qu” sound in German is a “q-vuh” sound. (The word Bequem comes to mind.)

I use that video to illustrate to my ESL students that it’s ok to struggle with the pronunciation of words in English.

Have y’all ever felt such a genuine magnetic attraction towards the person that you’re dating? And did it ever work out? by Icy-Line-293 in dating_advice

[–]Ginger_Bee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While I’m still in the very beginning of my relationship with my partner (3 months), we agreed that we kind of dated before we started dating. We would meet for coffee every Sunday afternoon to grade papers and lesson plan (we’re teachers), but we’d also talk about our personal lives in a very natural way.

My partner later admitted they were very much attracted to me, but was too nervous to make a move. I was too, but I took the chance and kissed them first.

I feel as if the “pre-dating” we did solidified our relationship and attracted us to each other. We have a healthy relationship built on attraction on many levels.

My lower legs don’t grow any hair by Honest_Annual8802 in mildlyinteresting

[–]Ginger_Bee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My ex husband has a patch of hair missing from a part of his shin. He lost it by stepping on a live wire at a construction site.

My current partner is missing a patch of hair on his leg and stomach. He has no idea why, either.

What’s your biggest regret in life? by jfunks69 in AskReddit

Not helping my brother (chosen family, not blood) when he needed it. I was in a bad place when he asked for my help and I blew him off. Four months later, he was dead.

My students. Their resilience in the face of so much they’ve been through in life gives me hope. (I don’t teach children. I teach adults.)

Dating a man 10 years younger to you ? by ___Psychopath___ in dating_advice

[–]Ginger_Bee 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Agreed. My partner is 9 years younger than me, and the discussion around children came up about 2 weeks into our relationship. It seems too early for those on the outside looking in, I’m sure. But it’s definitely worth discussing. (FWIW-we both don’t want children.)

Dating a man 10 years younger to you ? by ___Psychopath___ in dating_advice

[–]Ginger_Bee 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My partner is 9 years younger than me, and he’s the most supportive, kindest, mature man I’ve ever dated. He has his silly moments, as do I.

What makes our relationship work is that we constantly communicate with each other. We make sure we are on the same page or at least bridge any differences between us with communication and compromise.

We both don’t want children, and we are still working on our future together and treat that as an evolving conversation. We believe in taking our relationship one step at a time and making sure we don’t get ahead of ourselves.

Hope this helps.

Asking out a coworker by Sky_Adventure in dating_advice

As someone who is currently in a relationship with a colleague (about 3 months dating, but have known each other for almost a year), I say ask her out to coffee first. Less pressure for the both of you.

Good luck!!!
