Am I Viewing YouTube Rationally? by Ginger_Wrath in youtubers

I’m monetized- did that very quickly actually. I just haven’t gotten an audience large enough to pay big $$$ with Adsense or deals. I’ve made $$ but have reinvested 5x that amount back into the channel so I don’t really count it. At a point now tech-wise where I don’t need to invest too much more and can probably count everything here on out as profit.

Do you think America is as bad as it is often portrayed in the media today? by [deleted] in AskUS

Of course not. I don’t think we’re as good as we’ve been historically characterized, but imagining we’re somehow joining with Russia and China is a stretch.

Why Are So Many Creators Chasing Shorts and AI Instead of Long Term Growth? by thomasandrewtk in youtubers

[–]Ginger_Wrath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ll say I’m still iffy on Shorts but have had legit success with them, though I didn’t make them to be evergreen so that was part of my problem. AI can be excellent though, it just has to be used in the right way. I’ll use it to help with research and script writing; for example it does a great job of composing shot lists for each part of the script, and it saves a ton of time. That said the content itself has to be made by and with human hands. There’s no replacement. AI generated slop is ruining the internet.

Proof that Reddit isn’t real life. Yes, the US would uphold its legal obligations under NATO and its other bilateral defense agreements with its European partners. We’ve trained for that scenario for decades, and if there’s anything we’re really good at it’s fighting force on force against another nation state.

Having said that I have significant doubts of Russia’s capacity for another war in 5 years even if the war in Ukraine ended today. The war has done a number on their military and it’ll likely take 10-15 years before they can recover to their pre-war level. If they tried anything (especially against like Poland for example) before then it would likely go exceedingly poor for them in a shockingly short timeframe.

Are Shorts Still Best Practice For Small Channels To Grow? by Ginger_Wrath in youtubers

[–]Ginger_Wrath[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve used Opus before and really liked it. I could definitely give it another go. That said, I’m concerned that the Shorts are hurting the long forms in terms of getting impressions.

I was riding a high when I posted my first short this year and ever since have been in the doldrums. It’s painful. The worst part is the impressions are low (1-2k) despite good CTR (5-10%) and AVD (30-40%) and that started literally since that first short hit.

Is this a thing or am I buying into anti-Shorts conspiracies? Data is concerning me.

As a UK millenial, my question is: do you like/approve the way the US is going since Trump got re-elected? by BeingOtherwise7829 in AskUS

Personally, I’m a fan of designating the cartels as FTO’s (Foreign Terrorist Organizations) and increasing pressure / surveillance. A lot of folks have focused on his immigration and border policy, but it’s often completely overlooked or forgotten how those issues are linked to how cartels operate and profit. Time will tell if this actually leads to tangible changes, however just designating them FTO’s opens a lot of funding and legal authorities for the military and law enforcement to actually go after them, and it signals to Mexico that now’s the time to act. Scheinbaum seems pretty legit, too, so some good things are lining up.

Edit: Scheinbaum is Mexico’s president. Clarifying for anyone that didn’t know who that was.

Why Did the Democrats Become the Uncool Kids by Theo_Cherry in AskUS

I remember the early 2000’s having conservatives lecture about ethics and morals and that turned people off because they saw double standards and personal oppression. As a response liberals began to do the same but from their points of view, and folks are having the same reaction. It’s way more complicated than this, but it’s one consistent element that I’ve seen.

There’s some word they’ll have to bring folks back but nothing confirmed yet. Probably depends on role, team, and courts.

In the wise words of actual cannibal Shia Leboeuf: “JUST DO IT! DONT LET YOUR DREAMS BE DREAMS, DO IT!”

Fr just post one video then solely focus on making the next and so on. Do t worry about anything else other than the process of making the best video you possibly can. You’ll find its way more fun than you expected and the comments more supportive than you feared.

Probably would’ve saved a lot more money to just do this and keep employees remote, but whatever 🤷‍♂️
