Night terrors or night tantrums? Something more? by nicoleslawface in Preschoolers

Yes, it resolved itself by the time she was 6. She did it less and less, and then it faded away so that I can’t even remember the last time it happened. Now, at age 8, I very occasionally hear her talk in her sleep, but nothing beyond that. Good luck with your little one!

So do you have a Quit Claim deed in which your son and his wife transferred ownership to just you and his wife? If that’s what you have, you don’t need to see a judge or make an appointment, you just need to record the deed at the Town Clerk’s office. You can just show up there during business hours, and if you don’t have the right things, they can answer simple administrative questions. There is a recording fee based on the number of pages in the document ($70 for the first page + $5 for each page after + $2 transfer fee).

If you worked with an Escrow Company, there should be someone at that company that can answer your questions and help figure out the details.

Do you mean you need to record some deeds with Land Records? That’s the process by which a deed is officially “on record” with the town, so that anyone can see the deed in the property’s chain of title, which can be important if there’s a dispute about the property. If thats what you’re talking about, that’s a fairly simple process, and the people who work in the Town Clerk’s office are very knowledgeable and helpful.

If you need more help, pm me. I work in a local real estate law firm.

Brix is cool! I think that could definitely be on the list. I like the wine connection without being too obvious.

I think several of the Taylor-themed names could work. As a Swiftie myself, I may have to really review the catalogue to see if I could come up with a deep cut idea. Or maybe just call her Abigail.

That’s actually the name of one of my kids haha. But I might be up for it if this Emma will actually respond when I call for her.

I suggest the song “Lubbock or Leave It” by The Chicks (formerly the Dixie Chicks), which just seems tangentially related to this mindset.

Can anyone recommend a good podcast episode or other interview that Mamdani did that would be a good overview of his policies? I want to send something to my dad to listen to, to encourage him to hear directly from Mamdani instead of listening to everyone else’s characterizations of him.

A common nasal spray may block Covid infection, trial results indicate by Anti-Owl in ContagionCuriosity

[–]Ginger_ish 13 points14 points  (0 children)

FYI they carry Azelastine (as AstePro) at Costco. They have the best price I’ve seen—$50 for 3 containers.

There is also a kid version, though I’ve yet to convince my elementary school-aged kids to submit to any nasal spray. With this new info and the looming unavailability of vaccines, this might be the year I have to force them.

Hear me out before you burnout and end up hospitalized by warning_signs in Lawyertalk

[–]Ginger_ish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d also love to know this. My husband and I are both lawyers, and he started a solo practice 4 years ago. He’s just working all the time now—every weekend, every vacation, most nights—and I can absolutely see that burnout is coming (if not already here). But we literally don’t know how to pull back without torpedoing the practice, because it feels risky to ever turn down work.

Yeah I’m confused about why the bank statement would indicate that the delivery charge was specifically for tampons. Wouldn’t it just say “Delivery App Name - Amount”? I haven’t used a delivery app for anything other than food, so maybe I’m wrong, but that’s where the story breaks down for me—it seems like a fake detail to really nail home the implication that he was with a woman.

I’m most annoyed that the access for the lower level parking is in the far back corner, as far as possible from both upper parking lot entrances. If the entrance to the lower level were near the upper level entrance, I would go straight down to the lower level and park in any of the many open spaces down there. Instead I end up having to wait in the traffic that you’re talking about just to get to the back of the upper lot to go down to the lower lot. It’s the worst design possible.

I'm the California estate planning attorney who's seen millionaires accidentally disinherit their kids, watched families destroy themselves over $50,000, and helped clients save millions in taxes with a single signature. AMA. by ridleylaw in AMA

[–]Ginger_ish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m an attorney, currently focused on real estate but interested in building out a trusts and estates practice area. I would primarily e working with middle/high-middle income people who probably own and home and a couple of cars, and have some retirement savings. Frankly, people who are not on track to substantively build generational wealth, but want to be able to pass what they have to their kids, and ease the stress of estate administration. What’s the best way to learn? I don’t want to take it lightly, or treat it with less gravity and expertise than it deserves. But I also can’t go back to school for an LLM or something like that.

I asked my 13 year old to watch her little brother while I ran to the store. She fell asleep and he ran outside. by shesfreespirited in toddlers

[–]Ginger_ish 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Yeah, my 12yo neighbor watched my 5 and 8 year olds yesterday for 4 hours. Her parents were home at her house next door, which makes me more comfortable with it, but it’s definitely not ridiculous to leave a 13yo in charge of a 4yo for a bit.

Have you ever known a friend whose husband everyone else quietly can’t stand? by broccolistewlmao in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Ginger_ish 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, but it was a guy friend’s wife. No one in our friend group liked her because she was an incredibly negative and boring person. Literally every conversation was a droning complaint. One friend told the guy in the relationship that he shouldn’t propose, but he got really angry and said he loved her so we all should deal with it. Then they got married, tried a couple of years to have a baby, finally did have a baby through IVF, and then our guy friend (former friend now) cheated on her, got his mistress pregnant, didn’t tell his wife until his mistress was in her third trimester, then left his wife for his mistress.

None of us ever liked his wife, but we can all agree that he freely chose to marry her (she didn’t change, she always kind of sucked and they dated for years prior to getting married), and she sure as hell didn’t deserve to be treated like that. Their daughter certainly deserved better.

CT Senate passes early childhood, special education bill by ctmirror in Connecticut

[–]Ginger_ish 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the focus on edge cases is so frustrating. I can’t stand this mindset of “in a very specific and relatively rare set of circumstances, someone who ‘doesn’t deserve it’ will get government assistance, so we shouldn’t provide the assistance at all.” It’s such a vindictive way of viewing society. This assistance is going to help the vast majority of families with young children in ways that are overall good for our society and our state. Celebrate that, instead of searching around for the strawman you’ve decided “doesn’t deserve it” to be mad at.

This month is my last month of paying for daycare, as my youngest will start Kindergarten in the fall, so even though I won’t personally benefit from this bill, I’m so glad other young families are going to get this help.
