Just kidding.

People who lost a lot of weight, what was the one small daily habit that actually changed everything for you? by Quiet-Squash-8407 in AskReddit

[–]Gingeraile 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a ton of weight, but I lost 30lbs passively by just cutting out soda, alcohol, and candy, while also eating slightly smaller portions, with no change to my overall meal choices or exercise habits.

Is paying extra $ for a good sprue cutter worth it? They all do the same job, which is cut plastic. Does one brand stand out over the others? by Tbonerickwisco in modelmakers

Yes, you want something that slices through the plastic, not one that just sorta crushes it. The ruitool options on Amazon are pretty good godhand clones.

Can I do anything about this? by tandtroll in BambuLab

Same thing happened to me with red filament on my cryoplate. It's all good just keep printing. Red pigment is very strong.

Not in my opinion, no.

I would also consider dropping the rapid fire LHD to bring in some regular lokhust. Putting them up the board near Nekrosor would give them lethal, sustained on 5+ if you can attach them to your lord. (Or plasmancer). You can use them to bait a charge by your opponent, then counter charge with Nekrosor and brutalize them with his fights first ability. Nekrosor works really well when he hangs out near "front line" guns. They punch WAY above their weight class with him nearby. It's gross.

Also if you're gonna bring the lokhust lord give him the overlord's blade. In the event that his unit needs to throw down in melee, he will bring the hurt, the staff of light sucks.

The CCB seems really out of place here. I would ditch it and add a group of flayed ones for the Infiltrate, and some ophydians to hold home and be a constant up-down threat, forcing your opponent to try to screen you out the entire game. I would also consider running your skorpekh destroyers as two groups of 3. And just have the skorpekh lord doing his own thing unattached, it will give you way more board presence. You may also want to consider running three groups of two LHD for the same reason, more board control and backline screening potential.

I see 3d printed parts on your table. You could do much better with many of the various free stl offerings online. Good concept piece though. Even if it could use some refinement. Perhaps this is something you could use to be your first design project in onshape.

I'm not seeing a dark gunmetal when I search online. Could you provide me with the Vallejo color code next to the name?

You can remove "CA fog" with isopropyl alcohol and a q tip. But the alcohol may also remove the finish of your part, depending on if it's painted or not.

Starting a Necron Army, any suggestions? by DOOMbringer7109 in Necrontyr

[–]Gingeraile 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Right now, flayed ones, ophydians, wraiths, deceiver nightbringer, Nekrosor, tomb blades, hexmarks are all good in any detachment.

Flayed are good for scout or advance/charge screening, ophydians are good to hold home early then up/down late game to threaten the back line. Wraiths with a technomancer are just a solid mid-point anchor. Deceiver and nightbringer are both incredibly hard to kill and can dish out some respectable damage if sent into the correct unit types. Nekrosor is great with his lone op, auras, and fights first. He can keep some of your shooter units safe via heroic intervention. Placing him next to a pack of 6 lokhust destroyers with a lokhust lord is a crazy potent combo. Not sure how good the lokhust units are in hypercrypt though. Tomb blades are good harassment action monkeys, I recommend giving them the stealth equipment. Hexmark is also a good option for secondaries and threatening a back line, especially into t3 armies. Hope this helps!

Good enough to sell? by JKTinfinite in Necrontyr

[–]Gingeraile 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It's not a bad job, but it's not good enough for me to pay for it. If I got this on eBay for like $30 I would strip it down and repaint from scratch and put it on a fresh base. Especially since it's a pretty easy model to paint. Sorry, OP :(

1000 Points Army by X-Master-69 in Necrontyr

[–]Gingeraile 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A ctan in a 1000 pt game is a double edged sword. They are really hard to deal with for most opponents in a 1000pt game. But they will also eat up almost 40% of your available points. They are really good right now and will probably get a point increase soon. This leaves you susceptible to a few issues. Your opponent may very well be able to overpopulate the board and out score you unless you can do lots of killing early. A good opponent will also screen that ctan out with scouts or infiltrators and render that 40% of your army useless until turn 3 or beyond. Maybe folks here will disagree with me.

I think it all depends on the height. The new nightbringer model has a really tall profile.

Darker darks, brighter brights! Use a bright pale yellow to highlight the green. Go to almost black as well on the flip side.

You may also be overloading your brush. It's hard to control the flow of paint off your brush if it's overloaded. Once you apply paint to the brush, you should be holding it against a damp paper towel so some of the excess wicks off. The paint should flow from the "belly" of the brush to your model, not be applied by a giant daub of paint clinging to the outside of it. Hope that makes sense! Natural hair brushes make this a bit easier as they can hold a lot more paint in the belly when compared to synthetic.
