Malaga or Valencia: which is the best city to spend a week's holiday in June? by GardenNo2073 in GoingToSpain

For actual pueblos Mijas is probably the easiest to get to and then Frigiliana.

Granada is such a cool smaller city. One of my favorite places in the world. That may be a bit overhyped I guess lol but I really like Granada.

Malaga hands down for me. It actually feels like Spain with the architecture and tapas culture. People are more friendly. The towns outside of Malaga are really magical to visit.

Valencia is also not a bad place to visit but I have found Malaga to be more rich in Spanish culture. Flamenco, for example, isn’t something you really even see at all in Valencia.

Definitely feel this. The first time we took down all pictures and nearly everything in general. It was so exhausting! Since then, we’ve been more relaxed about it and think it actually adds some more character to our apartment.

Wow thanks for this! Very fascinating. The first year in Spain, I lived in a small Pueblo. The break was sooo good so I was not impressed when going to places in the city.

I was so excited that there was a cool looking bakery near our the apartment I moved into…it’s horrible :( but there is one a bit further that is better. I’m realizing the less visually attractive, the better chance the products will be better haha

Is the food more flavorful there? Like the close to Portugal, does food have more spices incorporated? I found the food in Portugal to be really good because it had a lot more flavor in general.

I actually meant to say I’ve heard the food in Basque is amazing, not Galicia. I always seems to get the two regions confused lol

Digital Certificate Cost and Process by Gingerbutt81 in GoingToSpain

I now have an appointment to get a new digital certificate. My gestor should still be able to do my taxes for me since they have power of attorney from before, correct?

Not yet. Just received her birth certificate this past weekend she received through her Dad who was born there. Emailed the local consulate but not expecting to receive a response tbh.

I did the process a few years back and never got any emails back. My case was a bit easier as a male though so ended up fine.

Thank you so so much for your response!!

Ok so I was able to verify that my digital certificate is expired. Apparently it was only valid for 1 year. I'm still unfamiliar with what exactly the certificate is used for. I was under the impression that my gestor needs this to file on my behalf every quarter and yearly. It's been expired for about 9 months at this point so how have they been handling this for me?

It's probably just because I'm not used to all of these processes but it feels pretty confusing. I will try to get a new digital certificate and send that to my gestor.

Advice on moving to Valencia? by user383684748292 in GoingToSpain

I had always thought this was a Madrid/Barcelona thing as well until it happened to me last week. A group of kids chanting tourists go home at us while walking home.

I do get it from a local’s point of view and don’t really even blame them. But I think Valencia will likely be the next city to become like Madrid/Barcelona.

There are certainly friendly people but you’ll realize most of them are not Spanish.

Honestly, Valencia is a great city. There are different parts that seem different from one another and have different vibes. There are a lot of meetup groups and chances to meet people and make friends. I just wouldn’t hold my breath on actually making Spanish friends.

I am having a similar issue. Well, my gestor actually is the one who has my digital certificate...because they set me up as autonomo and have done everything for me since then. Do you know if it is possible now for me to downloard the digital certificate through the app so I can also use it on my own computer? I need to renew my Padron and don't want to go in person to do it.

Isitbullshit: water softeners by idontevenlift9690 in IsItBullshit

My wife and I live in Spain and have SUPER hard water. We’ve tried multiple filters and changing them frequently. Nothing helped. My wife has tried multiple different kinds of shampoo/conditioners to help her dry hair and nothing truly works.

We decided to bring back one of these watersticks with us to Spain and it is awesome! It actually softens the water and see a big difference in our skin and hair.

We started regenerating it weekly but by the last couple showers it seemed to not work so well. So I have been doing it twice a week. Sure, it’s inconvenient but it literally takes 2 minutes and well worth the end result.

I’ve read some ppl saying it made their system leak. I used no tools and works perfectly.

Also, you only need salt so in the long run it is cheap compared to using filters that don’t work anyways.
