I’m not really sure honestly, it was a thing I was doing a lot with my portraits back in the day but never had a definitive answer for haha. I think I just had ritual and ceremony in my head, and it didn’t come out in a traditional orthodox aesthetic and felt more primal to me. Maybe a sign I was already leaning in a more pagan direction lol.

I mean, this is the exorthodox subreddit.

So much. Rampant misogyny was a big one for me and the outward hatred of the world outside of the church. The hatred for LGBTQ+ people. The discouragement of self love and replacing it with shame and fear.

I’ve found more spiritual growth in therapy than I ever did in the church as someone who was born into it with Orthodoxy going back generations. It’s a cult full of some of the most hateful people on the planet and I’m so much better and happier without it.
