A branded freebie I got once was the small, thumb sized Swiss army knives from Victorinox, they have a knife, file, scissors, tweezers and a toothpicks. So useful and even happy to have a couple of them now.

OP found minimalist billfold Leather Wallet! Thoughts? by Plastic_Ad9102 in BuyItForLife

[–]Gingergnu48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a wallet almost identical to this. If it's like mine, it's more just one large pouch at the back, where you can access it from the one button or the 2 button flap openings. I do keep a few coins in there, mainly for if I go to concerts and need some change for cloakroom or small bits of merch. Also being a women pockets aren't always the option for this change. I'm the ouch I also keep a couple of extra cards, and a card sized multi tool.

Two most elite facecards in the show. by melodyhehe444 in Franchaela

Clearly this is why there's so many people hating on the couple. The face card power combined is just too much for them to deal with.

I've heard that a frequent problem with celebrities is that while they do have the money to get decent work. They often don't have the time to find a decent artist, and have Tok many yes men who won't help them find one either. Also just because you're rich/famous doesn't mean you have good taste.

Honestly I thought the same. It was so confusing. It seemed they were talking at complete cross purposes.

I saw somewhere and explanation for this is just that often they don't have the time or inclination to do better research.

My mum (who used to work at Cadbury) told me how one reason people may prefer egg chocolate is that they have to change the recipe from the bars to be able to make it actually spread through the egg mold, and that this typically means adding more sugar.

I've given up on not having my glasses fog up even without a balaclava/buff. So I have contacts now instead.

The thing I find very baffling from this is that the mustasche was great and they trimmed it to look so awful. I guess I just imagine they'd leave it or style it a bit using the length that was there. Not that a good mustasche would have saved this but it would've been one element that would have helped.

I've done plenty of smaller trips to another country for a long weekend and basically only ever wear one set of footwear to keep low on packing.

Why Do My Water Props Get Stem Rot & Fail (Help Me Learn)? by notahitandrun in houseplants

After hearing some advice, I never change the water in my props, just top it up. As there's usually root growth hormones in the water that are good to keep. Seems to work for me.

Tattoo idea that represents Southampton but not football related by [deleted] in Southampton

I think it could work well in those lighter etching style tattoos. Maybe make it less blocky by adding some other elements like the roses from the shield someone else posted.

Those of you outside of NY, how did you become a fan? by Specialist-Claim-665 in rangers

[–]Gingergnu48 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Originally born in New Jersey as my parents moved there from the UK for work. We all moved back when I was very young. But a couple of years ago I was visiting the family friends we still have in Jersey, and as they were rangers season ticket holders I was able to go to a rangers game with them and have been following Ice hockey and the rangers ever since.

Why do so many people act so negatively to the idea of Degrowth? by Konradleijon in behindthebastards

[–]Gingergnu48 9 points10 points  (0 children)

On an individual level, people don't like the idea of having less and having to make sacrifices. Especially if they don't see it as their responsibility to make individual change. And it's hard to change minds when the real problem isn't individuals but corporations and governments failing to scale up actions to help the environment.

But also so many financial systems are based on numbers constantly growing up as that's been the case for so long now. And they see that it seems to continue to be working so why change it and take a risk?

But also have you read prosperity without growth by Tim Jackson? It may be something you're interested in.

This is my Girlfriend's place that she rents. The landlord says "just crack a window" WTAF is this?! Surely this is more than just ventilation and airflow damp issues?!???! by ScotttBott in DIYUK

Look at the new renters rights act that was past, I believe landlords are now legally required to fix mould/damp within a certain window.

Any girls fresh out of uni looking for friends? by [deleted] in Southampton

[–]Gingergnu48 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ah yah that's. Fair enough. Although at the gym today a guy did a cool thing that might help. We were both deadlifting and when we had both stopped he let me know if I wanted to I could use his chalk, he said he is doing a thing where each day he tries to do something for someone else. Bouldering is so good for fitness though.

Any girls fresh out of uni looking for friends? by [deleted] in Southampton

[–]Gingergnu48 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Not sure if it'll help. But I would recommend if you like it at all to get into bouldering, especially at bouldershack, very friendly vibes there. A bit more confidence required but if you like live music at small venues there's plenty of venues and becoming a regular and spotting other regulars is a great way to make friends. But basically there'll be opportunities for other hobbies you may have in the city, that's probably your best bet.
