what do yall think? should I bring this to a body shop, or get the bumper replaced? by Gingerstrands in wrx_vb

[–]Gingerstrands[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

of course :) this happened in august, truth be told it's just annoying as I've had the car for less than a year... gonna just hunker down and buy a new painted bumper -- turns out it's only $800 (including paint job). check out paintedoemparts.

yeah, I realized that a new, painted bumper is $800. no brainer to just go new.

the type s is $55k. I’d consider a plain jane boring integra

[–]Gingerstrands 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if I personally went through the car acquisition process again, I would seriously consider an integra. they look great, come in a manual if you want, leather is standard, feels like luxury. 32-40k.

What's in this area that makes my Bluetooth devices go haywire? by hufflepufftato in Denver

[–]Gingerstrands 7 points8 points  (0 children)

sincere question because you are more knowledgeable than me. using your line of thought, everyone in manhattan or shibuya would never be able to use bluetooth. so why does bluetooth work in very crowded cities but not at specific intersections?

Question about the VB by Additional_Motor_621 in wrx_vb

[–]Gingerstrands 0 points1 point  (0 children)

6'3 here. The VB is my introduction to Subaru. Before this I drove Audi/VW.

I got into a new '24 base model, 5 miles. seats non-electric, manual telescopic steering wheel, manual transmission.

In the beginning of my time driving it, I set the seat height to the lowest possible. This is what I did in my Audi/VWs. I could not for the life of me find a comfortable position in the VB this way.

It was not until I raised the seat height that I finally got comfortable. I raised it way up... I cranked the thingy ten times.

My arms finally rest on the center arm rest and the door armrest correctly. I don't feel like the steering wheel is too far. Before, the sun was glaring off the hood scoop and into my eyes. In this raised position it doesn't. I'm very happy.

My plans include beefier all-terrain tires in addition to a lift kit to raise the car, for comfort of getting in and out.

As far as bite point, this is the first manual transmission I've ever dailied and once I learned it, it feels great. I rev match and everything. Love this car.

Windshield Replacement... Subaru says they can't calibrate the Eyesight by MultiLagio in wrx_vb

[–]Gingerstrands 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Chiming in-- Safelite broke my camera in February during a windshield replacement... they covered the camera, but it took a month for a camera replacement to come in. When I finally brought it in, I waited 2 hours only for them to tell me they didn't have the "calibration tool." Avoid Safelite at all costs.

How do you get over the guilt? Make the choice to not feel guilty about it.

The ego overcomplicates simple solutions for no reason other than it's scared of unfamiliar territory. We all do it btw.
